“Nice”
Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

I came here this evening with my family, the staff were very attentive and welcoming, the food was nice I would recommend but if your in a large group being its small in there, u can't get in or out from the table it's a squeeze and be aware there is a service charge which nearly £20 was added to the bill, the drinks are expensive for example for a coke it was 2.80 but overall the food was nice, I would recommend

“China Star New Years Buffet Night”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

Visited the China Star as part of a large group, mixed ages, 22 to 80 ish. Set menu. £23.00p plus 10% charge.
On arrival the staff were quick to take your drinks order, they waited till everyone who had booked tables arrived before serving the first course, Appetiser platters. We were then invited outside so everyone could see a dragon dance by performers outside, quite entertaining, after 15 minutes,
the dragon then directed the customers to return to their tables, followed by the dragon dancing for another 15 minutes inside, all was good except when the person inside the dragon took a mouthful of wine and spat it out around the restaurant, then took a couple of oranges and kicked them at two walls showering me with orange juice. We then waited for 1 1/2 hrs for the main course, even the owner sat with his family and ate while we waited. Other tables were fed and left before we had received our main course.
The food was very salty, deep fried prawns in sweet sauce were on the menu, not as many bodies as prawn heads, in all the meal was not enjoyable, most of what was brought out was not as hot as it should be, we arrived at 6.30pm and left at 22.45. Didn't wait for a sweet course as we had to go home to get up for work. To top it off £11.00 for a glass of wine, a lemonade, and a glass of tap water, was too expensive. The staff were unhelpful, will we ever go back there, No Thank You.

“Great value for money”
Reviewed February 17, 2013 via mobile

I love to go to this restaurant. The staff are always happy to serve the quickest they can. The food is always piping hot when it arrives at the table and the portion sizes are just right. I will always be a regular customer at this Chinese restaurant.

“Portions have got smaller ....”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

Used to rate this restaurant but the new chairs are not good, it was v cold in there (I knows its the winter!) and the portions have got smaller ... The pancakes with the duck were stone cold and the waitresses were 'surly' and only interested if we wanted more drinks !! we had brought a bottle of wine ...

“All you can eat - but not a buffet”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Not a bad price - £15 a head - great selection that is freshly cooked and delicious. They really should stop pestering you for drinks, however...
