“The pier at Teignmouth”
Review of Grand Pier

Grand Pier
Reviewed January 25, 2013

Well its OK but not as good as it was in the 50s. OK so we are a pair of pensioners now but the pier is not what it once was. I can remember when there was a ballroom at the end of the pier which was really something. I think it fell in the sea years ago. The amusements could do with a bit of a revival and it doesn't seem to be open much now. I suppose the recession has a lot to answer for but if money were no object, it would be good to see the old place revamped for the noughties.

Teignmouth is a great holiday place for all ages. as i have grew up I visit Teignmouth every year and the grand pier. it has a lot of video games and ticket machines. fair enough it needs a good tidy up and a refurbish but that pier has been up for years and its a treasure.

Visited the Pier during our stopover to celebrate new year. It has changed more than I'd care to admit, but the boyhood charm of this place is there under the garish lights and flashing video games. Nice to see the old place still standing!

As my father in law lived here for 30plus years so we often walked from his house along the beach to the pier.teignmouth itself is a beautiful traditional english seaside town but has become quite run down of late. However this pier,if comparing it to say the brighton pier, then it is dead in the water.I really like it,it has character and on a saturday afternoon is always packed so it cannot be that bad!The place is full of the typical fruit machines that you can win 70 pounds on through to the very ancient but sweet type penny arcade machines that you could have found in any arcade in the 70s.Whenever you pull yourself away from the gaming part you step back onto the outdoor pier which looks really old and has a few little rides at the end.My kids have a soft spot for this pier.

spoils ther wonderful views nearby...the pier is old and out dated and interupts the swimming below as you tend to be dragged towards the pier when swimming nearby
