“Superb location”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

Adequate food. Had lemon meringue pie as recommended by another trip advisor reviewer. Looked superb but not very lemony. Main benefit of this restaurant is the location. Food alone would only be a 3*. It closes early (6pm) which is a shame because it would make a superb location for an evening meal. Slightly overpriced.

“Nearly an hour for food”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

Went in on the 28th July at around 13:30pm with a family of 5 (at table 7). We were informed there was a 30 minute wait on food, but ended up waiting 55 mins from ordering. When I asked why we had to wait for so long, I was told there was a queuing system, and they had been busy due to the number of takeaway orders. During the 55 minutes we had seen others enter the cafe, order, sit, get there food, eat and then leave. The 2 girls who ordered in front of us got there food a full 18 minutes before us. Once I had expressed my dissatisfaction at the speed of the food, we then received a pretty frosty reaction from the waitresses. One came over to the next table along to ask how everything was, completely passing us by. Overall it left us feeling very disappointed. The food was very good quality, but not worth an hour wait.

Thank you for your review. Although we cook all of our food fresh to order it is highly unusual that a customer has to wait this amount of time. We will be investigating and will look to improve ordering systems so that this does not happen again.

I am pleased that you found the food good quality and hope to see you again one day at The Beachcomber Cafe

“Ecellent - good view, good food and friendly staff.”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

This is a firm favourite of mine to eat lunch with family or just to have coffee with friends. A nice relaxing place to chill out and enjoy the views out to sea or watch the people walking along the prom.
The interior is basic but clean and you can always be assured of reasonably priced, good tasty food served with a smile.
If good weather prevails there is an extensive seating area on the promenade which is great - place your order in the cafe and food and ddrink is brought out to you.

“The Best Lemon Meringue Pie”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

it was 40 years since i was last here and was so pleased that it has become a first class cafe serving great lunches and home baking. The LMP was HUGE and as good as any I have had (and I've had a few).

“The perfect seaside cafe”
Reviewed July 7, 2012

On a very wet July mid week day the Beachcomber was an excellent port in a storm. Situated on the promenade in a pretty central location.

Very friendly efficient service. Food was excellent, freshly prepared and whilst we stuck with sandwiches the hot meals on adjoining tables looked appetising. Great value and would definitely return - hopefully in better weather
