I was whisked off for a surprise valentines treat and was delighted to be taking to the Owl and the Pussycat!
At first I was a little anxious, as a disabled guest having visited a few years before and could remember the access was 'fair/ok'. Previously I had sat in the corridor of the restaurant with a few other tables as the main room isn't accessible, which left me feeling a little uncomfortable as people walked in and out of the restaurant and kitchen.
However, this visit was completely different. I can't say if this is a permanent arrangement or if it was special for the valentines day meal, but the access was great as they had turned the once 'corridor' into more of an annex and secondary room with many more tables. The main door was my access to my table, and the other guests used another main entrance into the dining room, so we didn't feel in the way, just part of the atmosphere! A big improvement here.
The food was delicious a set menu with 5 courses, each better than the last. On top of the food, we were entertained with a musical accompaniment which was beautiful and all given roses, a nice touch to feel extra special.
The staff were really helpful and happy during the evening, never appearing stressed or rushed. Unfortunately we did find a small piece of shell in the tian of crab, which they apologised for profusely and there wasn't any other problems during the meal.
I can't comment on access to the disabled toilet (i don't know if they have one?) but there wouldn't have been any way of me getting through the annex to use one without moving people, their tables and their food. So this could be a problem for others in wheelchairs.
Overall a very lovely night, thank you O&P! x
