The boys were now big enough to go on bike rides with us so we decided to buy a bike rack and head up to Grizedale Forest, where I'd been before but never stayed. We didn't fancy camping so looked for a nice B&B and some creature comforts. Most of the hotels in the area wouldn't allow the children (and I don't blame them - little rascals! ;-) But Richard and Deborah were more than happy to accommodate us. Their cooking was hearty and spot on. With lots of choice. And the little touches like the honesty box in the lounge to take care of the evenings beverages by the fireside made our stay even more relaxing. If you're looking for somewhere to go walking, hill running or cycling, in beautiful surroundings, with a place like home to come back to at the end of the day, I'd recommend Grizedale Lodge. A gem in a beautiful part of Cumbria. They really know how to make you feel welcome.More
