We have just returned from our second short break at Grizedale Lodge and enjoyed it every bit as much as the last time. Richard made every effort to ensure we were comfortable and the breakfasts were as beautiful as ever. We were brought tea and coffee on arrival (for which there was no charge) and he even found some tasty bits each morning to tempt our elderly dog to eat!
Watching the birds whilst eating breakfast is delightful. The lounge,with its log burning stove, is a lovely place to relax and there is an honesty bar if you fancy a glass of wine. Hawkeshead is only a couple of miles down the road and has several good cafes and pubs. Highly recommended.

This was the second time we have stayed at Grizedale Lodge with Richard and Deb and loved it just as much as the first. We stayed in the recently refurbished room 1 which was magnificent, plenty of room for us and our 16 month old son and his travel cot. He loved exploring the place and especially loved the homemade bread every morning. We couldn’t ask for a nicer place to stay and will definitely be back

We have just come back from a 3 night stay at Grizedale Lodge. We both thought that the cosyness, attention to detail and cleanliness were second to none. The choice of breakfast options was excellent, from fresh fruit to home made bread, porridge, yoghurt etc etc. The breakfast portions were perfect; just right and non- greasy.
It's a fantastic base for active days out in the woods with a great variety of trails ( walking/ mountain biking) and when your kit gets wet just ask to have it put in the drying room; dry in no time!
All in all a great place to stay if you are looking for charm and a friendly atmosphere.
We will definitely try to stay here again and highly recommend.
