We've just returned from having a wonderful meal at Kota - which we had chosen after reading about Jude (owner/chef) and his wife in the Telegraph. We were down in Cornwall during our honeymoon and were looking for something special - and we found that at Kota. The food was delicious - we both had seafood for our first two courses. We both had scallops which were delicious and then had Sea Bass and John Dory. Both our main meals were superb with really exciting and unusual flavours. By sheer coincidence Jude and his wife ended up dining next to us. We took the opportunity to talk to them and they were both lovely people - very friendly, genuine and modest people. We think they well deserve lots of continued success.

You know just from looking at the menu that a meal at Kota is going to be special, but even the tempting descriptions don't do justice to the beautiful food they serve here. My meal with 3 friends this past week was superb from beginning to end. We dined on everything from salmon tartare which practically sparkled in its freshness, to lovely rich baked gnocchi, to a gorgeously spicy green curry monkfish, to duck beautifully prepared 2 ways, to a decadent molten chocolate cake with homemade espresso ice cream. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented, and the service was friendly and spot on. I was staying in Porthleven and only had to walk down the hill to this lovely restaurant, but it's well worth driving that extra mile if you're staying or living elsewhere in Cornwall. For me, no trip to Porthleven is complete without dinner at Kota.

Excellent menu with something for everyone (none fish lovers like my wife!), the staff were warm and friendly and the food was to die for!! Highly recommend the scallops for the starter, tastiest scallops and sauces I have ever tasted.

This is a fantastic restaurant. We had previously visited 2 Fore Street in Mousehole and the Porthminster Beach Cafe in St Ives( both 5 stars). Well Kota was just as good. The asian duck was presented beautifully, and tasted fantastic. The chocolate fondant pudding well worth the 15 minute wait ( as its made as ordered).
If you are in this area, make a reservation, the meal will be well worth it!

read the reviews from here, and decided to go and see. The reviews are very right, the food was fantastic, we even had the early bird specials, a very good price to for 2 courses, and they certainly didnt cut back on the quality. The dishes were mouthwatering. The best we have eaten. Will definately be going back there soon.
