“worth it if you have a day to spare”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

we took the tram to cabatas and then took ferry to princes' islands. cheaper to book ferry using istanbulkart- i think about 5 lira per person compared to 7 lira for cash.make sure you know which island you are going to as the ferry does not announce the stop.the horse ride is expensive and smelly . rather walk around and have a good lunch.make sure you check when the ferries return. the journey takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes

“Nice place but doesn't worth a full day”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

The islands have no cars except emergency vehicles. it is full with horses and bicycles. the smill is the most bathering issue as the remains of the horses fills the streets and smill terrouble. It also has some shopping, but everything is overpriced compared to Istanbul.

“amzaing”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

so we went to burgazada through a pre arranged prepaid tour, but its better (and cheaper) to take the tram to kabatas and then take a boat to the island. As for the island itself, its beautiful, with awesome weather and horse carriage rides.... there are many restaurants, or you can just walk along the sea side and enjoy the scenery. there are also a couple of swimming points where you can swim to avoid the blazing sun.overall a very good experience!!

“Go back in time”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

I had just four days in Istanbul and a lot of places to cover. But if you are honeymooner like me, then it is a must go place and so it was for me.

We took a tram to kabatas and there were Govt/ Private Ferries/boats/yachts offering just 5 TL per person to one of the beautiful princes island, Burgazada.
The Boat ride was amazing. Thereafter we went for a full island tour by Horse cart costing 50 - 60TL. The have fixed rates and a little hope for bargaining. But if you have come to princes island, then you should go for horse cart tour too and experience the history yourself. There are a few kickbacks like Horse Stools around but the scenic beauty of the place and the feel of being charioteer-ed around overtakes any bad think about this island.
I Suggest do not go for any other paid visit to any place in Princes Island.
There are a few cafes for snacks. If you are coming back to Kabatas by 4 30 pm then you may go straight to Dolamabache Palace, it walking distance from Kabatas. But check its timings and days its open before you plan.

Enjoy!!!!!!!!

“Unfortunately, too many horses and fake beaches.”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

The island is in a beautiful location on the Marmara sea. The island does have a charming athmosphere because of the beautiful wooden houses and vantage spots to enjoy the sea. The islands do have plenty spots for nice pictures, and a lively central square with many restaurants and cafes. The idea is that cars are forbidden and you can only get by either by bycicle or a horse carriage. So far so good. The problem is that there are way too many horses on the island; and horses, well, horses do not use toilets. The whole island smells quite intensely. This really takes a toll on the whole experience.

One minor note is that we wanted to swim, but in the island there are only private recreational spots which are advertised as beaches. Do not go to these places, or if you do, please ask to see the premises before paying the entrance fee; then decide on your own.

In short, the islands are worth visiting if you have enough days in Istanbul, only if you have enough time.

I would recomend to spend a day there only if
