Stayed here with 2 of my children during September 2013. The meals were very good. The stuff very nice. Well equipped. The room was a little bit old. The TV in the room horrible (12 inches screen or so like a computer from early 90's

We had a superior room which had a sea view on the 4th floor. On arrival there were 3 small bottles of water and 3 apples. There was a mini fridge in the room which is handy for keeping your shop bought drinks in. We had a flat screen TV with mostly foreign channels but also the main English channels, for EastEnders and Coronation street he he. The room was quite dusty and the cleaners seemed a bit slap dash with their work. A warning for people with small children, the balconies, I feel are not safe as there is quite a gap between the glass panels. In fact a little girl 2 rooms away crawled through to the next balcony, luckily the parents were there to coax her back. There are gaps that babies could fall through off the balcony too. We found that the trains accross the road were quit anoying as they are quite regular and noisy enough to spoil the peace. On to the food. The hotel has a large dining room that can get very busy and noisy. A waiter saw us to a table each time and the drinks waiter came over straight away to take our order, by the end of the week he knew what we were going to have and brought it straight away lol. He looked like the actor Sean Bean. Look out for him. The food was mostly geared up for the Europeans, there was a lot of strange stuff like pigs cheeks, squid, shell fish etc. There was plenty of salad and pizza, always pasta. A lot of the food was not hot, the show cooking counter is good though because it is cooked continually and is hot. The dessert section was very repetitive, and we ended up having cake every night. We went full board which was a bit of a mistake .We got a packed lunch one day, the bread was inedable. You end up paying a lot out for drinks too as water is not free. The entertainment was not to our liking at all. The French people loved it, they were all dancing to old style corny songs sung badly by bad singers. The swimming pool was too cold to use as it was October, however there was the indoor one that my husband and son used a couple of times. Jacuzzi was cold and the pool was very bleachy. The position of the hotel was ok , not far from the beach, but didn't like going under the subway to it. You know what the highlight of our holiday was, the land train. A long ride around the town and up the mountain where you could get off and go in a small museum, (not worth it stay on train). Very pleasant. The normal train across the road was handy to go to Callella , Blane's and Barcelona all cheap trips, cheaper to ask for a family ticket if you have kids.

Room Tip: If you like your TV get a superior room as they are flat screens also you get pool towels and sea vi...

Dear Guest,

First of all we would like to thank you for taking the time to write a review of our establishment on TripAdvisor.

Regarding the trains, we are sorry to know that they disturbed your peace. They run every half hour and they reach staright into the centre of Barcelona in an hour and not much more. We believe that this is a very positive asset for our guests, but of course, there are always cons that can affect you. The same happens with the underpass to get to the beach.

You also mention the indoor pool. Unfortunately, there is not much we can do regarding the levels of chlorine that we use, they are under constant inspection by external laboratories in order to comply with European Health and Safety regulations, to which we cannot disobey.

I am sorry to learn that some of your experiences in the restaurant were not satisfactory, we take your comments into consideration.

This year was our first trip to Spain and since we have children we decided to visit Santa Susanna resort. A perfect choice for families with children with ages between 8 to 14 .

This hotel was a good choice for us due to the various activities they have every day for children - kudos to Julio and his entertainment team . They give us , the parents time of to relax with a cold drink and a good book by the pool while the kids have fun.

The hotel itself is not a four star but maybe a good three stars. No coffee or tea in the room, no room service, you can rent an iron for 3 euros an hour, you need to pay if you want to use the safe in the room . The room we were given initially was definitely a three stars ( it came with a dated bathroom and a very small and dated TV as well as uncomfortable mattress) .

After inquiring at the reception and paying an additional 100 euro's we got an upgrade and I was very happy with it . Flat screen TV, big balcony and sea view .

Breakfast was very good , diversified and we were all happy with it. However I do not recommend lunch or dinner. The food is below average - cafeteria or plane food is probably better and there are plenty of restaurants in the area where you can eat.

Overall, our experience was very good and we will definitely be returning next year.

Rooms - Our room was always kept clean but we could not understand why the bathroom towels were so small.

The train station and tourist information shop is a short distance away from the hotel.
The hotel is ideally situated for walks along the promenade towards the local shops and gift shops are not very far. The beach is also a short distance away. We found a local shop/supermarket which sold sandwiches for a euro each and water at only 0.30e. We kept going back on a daily basis as it was so cheap.

Entertainment - the only time we decided to stay at the hotel was the Spanish flamenco dancers, all three of them were brilliant. Apart from that we went along the promanade where they hold the local craft stalls on a daily basis.

Breakfast and evening meals - if you are on strict diet and are limited in what you eat, this hotel may not be able to cater to your dietary needs. Breakfast was not too bad as there was fresh bread, baked beans, and fresh fruit. Evening meals were a bit more challenging after a while you do get fed up of veggie pizza and salad. On top of this you are charged for drinks eg water is 1.95e.

Noise control – one night we had to ring reception as our neighbours had the TV on very very loud and it was gone past mid night. Credit where due, a member of staff came up and knocked on their door a number of times before the occupants answered and eventually turned the noise down. I wish TV’s in hotel rooms had a limit to noise as to not disturb other holiday makers.

Staff – majority of staff were brilliant but there was one lady who never produced a smile in all our one week whilst there. Service with a smile always helps and it costs nothing

Room Tip: We were advised not to go for a superior room by the gentleman on recepiton.
