I stayed at the Tahiti Playa in April. I had originally booked in at the Monteplaya in Malgrat as I had stayed there previously. Unfortunately the Monteplaya was undergoing refurbishment so I was given an upgrade and ended up at the Tahiti Playa.
I have to say I was really impressed with the hotel. It was situated literally overlooking the beach with a really impressive pool with loads of sun beds. Inside the hotel was spacious and very well laid out. The staff were very pleasant, courteous and were happy to assist whenever they could.
My room was very nice, clean and up to date with a lovely sea view. The facilities were good. I had access to a safe and a safety deposit box. I also purchased one of the mini drinks packages in order to guarantee use of the fridge for the week. It only cost me 4 euros and for that I received two bottles of water, three cans of fizzy drinks and of course use of the fridge.
There was happy hour every day at 5.30 p.m. which included beers and selected cocktails, all of which were excellent and value for money. I found the price of the cocktails quite reasonable anyway and the bar was both comfortable and pleasant.
If I have a gripe at all about this hotel it was that the food, particularly on an evening, was not always as hot as it could have been. The dining room/restaurant was very large and well laid out. The meals were hot and cold buffet style but as I say we had to make use of the microwaves strategically located at either end of the dining area to heat up some of the food which was neither good nor acceptable.
The quality of the food however was excellent, it was very tasty and there was plenty of choice. I particularly enjoyed the breakfasts as I like a full English when I am away. Given the fact that it was April and not peak season there was no long waiting or queues for food however this may become a problem if you are there in peak season.
The lift was a novelty, it was on the outside of the building and made completely out of glass so if you took a ride up to the top floor you could see for miles.
There was entertainment on each evening in the bar downstairs. I was looking forward to the Flamenco dancers but unfortunately as it was out of season they didn't materialize.
Given the location of the hotel and its close proximity to the beach the coach had difficulty turning around when we got there. As a consequence when it was time to leave we had to transport our own cases through an underpass and up onto the main roadside. This was not very far and I found it more an inconvenience than a major problem, however the older members of our party did struggle a little.
Would I stay at this hotel again? Yes absolutely - the benefits far outweighed any small irritations. For me the location of the Hotel and the cleanliness and high spec was of particular importance and Santa Susanna itself is a lovely little resort with everything you need close at hand.
