We spent 7 days at this hotel. It was a wonderful choice and the hotel is worth all the recommendations. It is located in a quiet area with adequate infrastructure, personnel civilized which has a proper attitude towards tourists. The room was excellent. Cleanliness is impeccable, my room was very quiet. There are three types of rooms - I used a premium, which has several advantages but important: Internet access included, refrigerator, pool view rooms with two beds, linen beach. One negative note: the offer is mentioned access to the gym without mentioning that only one day is free. This is misleading advertising and is a shame to spoil the good impression overall. Also a suggestion - you should move the program from 13-21 instead of 9-17 as now. The restaurant is adequate, offering good quality food, varied enough to satisfy all claims. The pool is large enough (larger than other nearby hotels) and has a very effective team to maintain very good mood. Found near the train station - not bothering with absolutely nothing and is an excellent and inexpensive transportation. Every evening at 22 in a room specially set runs a show, always another, followed by disco. The sea is at a distance of 200 meters, very accessible, even if you have to cross the territory of camping. Official photos of the hotel is not misleading and did not think I have to add others.

Room Tip: Take a premium room with a swimming pool view. You will see the difference!

Stayed for a longweekend at the Aqua Hotel Onabrava for May Bank holiday, the hotel had great entrance hall with large marble entrance, staff very attentive and organised on arrival. Room spacious with two double beds and quite comfortable, view not great from balcony but who sits on the balcony for very long on holiday.

Swimming pool very cold but clean and perfectly suitable, the children enjoyed it despite the coldness of the water and the mild climate. It was very windy so it was cool at times the rain introduced itself for intervals if you visit out of season take a variety of clothing not easy always but need a jacket and shoes etc...

The food was quite good something to suite everyones pallet at each meal time, a choice of meats and fish everyday, salads, fruits, breads not so keen on the hot drinks all come from a tea/coffee machine as long as your not expecting too much you will enjoy it.

Entertainment was typical of the hotels but some nughts better then others. you can have a good laugh anyway,

Outside of the hotel was the trainline meters from the hotel it was superb to get into Barcelona a must do buy the combined ticket for train and bus tour the only thing is a day is not long enough, Barcelona is expensive and tourists definitely get hit with a different price than the locals so be on your guard in the Rambles etc, cafes etc not cheap but great experience a good taster of this fab city will definitely go back on a trip.

The promenade along santa susanna is lovely little market stalls set up at night with plenty of litttle shops to buy gifts, for young people the shoes Flossies are £10 half the price of UK big selection of cafes and bars to choose from.

The little train ride is ok but can get cold up the mountain so take a jacket

Overall lovely hotel and surroundings, Didnt try the spa but it looked superb.
Staff very helpful and friendly.

Staff are very helpful & friendly (especially great with a baby)
Upgraded to a family room - well worth it. Extra bedroom, spa bath, sea views & free wife, spa entry.
Great activities, food and location. Not noisy and about 20min walk to Malgrat.
Drinks reasonably priced for a Hotel. Well worth going Full Board as the variet of foods is brilliant and caters for all persons including diet food, glutton free, veggies blah blah blah

Room Tip: Family room we were in was137

You will not regret staying at this hotel - A huge marble lobby greets you on arrival, without a doubt the best hotel on the strip (we had a stroll and looked at the other Hotels). The pool is not huge but big enough but was a bit cold in June - although my kids almost lived in the pool. Note No inflatables are allowed. During Peek months From the end of June through August the hotel charges 1 euro per day per sunbed - I think this is to stop guests taking a sunbed each for every adult and child in the family and therefore depriving other guests of a look in - A fairly sensible idea and I think you also get a free pool towel as well.

We upgraded to a Premier room (6Euros per adult 3Euros per child, with the first child free - per day - 15Euros per day total for family of 4) Fantastic value when you consider the fridge is free (3 euros a day) free Pool towels for each of us (1.50 Euro per towel), free entry in the spa for 1 day (Beware you need a swimming cap to use the main pool) plus you get a Pool view and Sea view. Rooms cleaned every day with plenty of towels and tolietries

Kids club was brilliant (5hrs per day if you want it) and the lady who runs it was a star performer. A very good effort by the day Entertainment team led by the brilliant Moses, with many organised games and activities such as Shooting, Archery, bowling, ping pong plus loads more. Evening Entertainment after the kids club mini disco (9pm) was rather hit and miss, best of all was the cabaret on a Wednesday night.

Restaurant was very good, no queues ever - even in peek periods and alway escorted to your table by staff. Lots of choice for food, some days better then others but all in all not bad. we were Full Board and considered it good value for money.

Only a few mins walk from the railway station (We never heard the trains even though we are so close) good tip if wanting to go to Barcelona (About 1hr) and use the tour bus (Recommended) buy the joint tickets at the station - about 30 Euros cheaper, Note the railway station only takes cash so you can't buy tickets with your card. Beware the Hotel charges 5 Euros per day to park your car - there are free places to park not to far away.

Not many English guests, lots of German, Spanish & French - not that this bothered us as we had a great time. The Hotel is situated at the end of the strip which is very quiet, but there is a free bus (Well a kinf of road train towed carriages) that runs every half hour to take you to the busy shopping end (20 min walk away) This end of the strip is very much geared towards the British (English pubs, English Food,) All 3 Star Hotels or less and a bit more shabby. A cash machine can be found if you turn left out the back of the hotel and after a 10 min walk - the hotel exchange rate is very poor value.

Overall we had a fantastic time and can really recommend this hotel

Room Tip: ideally get a room on the 3rd, 4th or 5th floor. Note that not all Family rooms (30 Euros per day ex...

Just returned from staying at this hotel. (June 12) accomodation was excellent, clean and staff very helpful and friendly. The facilities were excellent. The pool was a good size, although freezing!! but there was a spa which cost 5 euros for the day which was cheap for what was available. it was great as it was overcast that day. (beware ladies, you have to wear a smimming cap - 2 euros) There are plenty of bars/resturants near by offering a variety of beautiful food. Train station approx 3 mins walk which was great to get into barcelona city. (cost approx 7 euros for per adult). I would definately stay at this hotel again.

This was our second stay at the onabrava and so we knew that the food was ok but not great, but sadly this time it wasn't even ok unless you liked pork or fish and lukewarm at that, which is a pity because I really would like to give it five stars. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spotless,no noise whatsoever from other guests, never any trouble obtaining sunbeds and at the quieter end of santa susanna. The hotel is situated opposite the railway station but do not think that means it is noisy because this is not the case, and it makes it an ideal base for exploring this area of the coast and for a return fare of 8 euros you can be in Barcelona in an hour.If you want the livelier resort of Malgrat it is only a steady ten minute stroll along the main road, taking in the market stalls set up along the way, which are there every evening.Altogether a thoroughly pleasant stay apart from the food which is a great pity because it really does take the edge of what could be a great holiday. `

Room Tip: stay on fourth or fifth floor

The hotel is situated on the periphery of the resort in a very pleasant area next to the railway station.

Our request for a quiet room fell on deaf ears and unfortunately we were allocated a room on ‘kindergarten corridor’. Very ironic, really, as very few families were staying at the hotel during our visit and most other guests were older couples!! Our room which overlooked the pool was large and the balcony offered a perfect place for sun bathing. In hindsight, though, not worth paying the extra for a Premium room for the benefits afforded.

The Spa is only available to residents during certain times of the day. During the week access is not allowed after 17.00 which is a bit restricting as this is probably the time when most guests would like to make use of the facilities after a day sight seeing and before taking dinner. That said the facilities are superb.

The hotel, seemingly, has studied the Ryanair business model and many services are only available at an additional cost. Whilst these are documented on the hotel website:

http://www.aquahotel.com/en/hotel/onabrava-santa-susanna/sevices/

no indication of the charges are shown. It is very disappointing that a hotel aspiring to provide a superior service should charge for such basics as wireless internet access, safe and fridge.

With one exception all of the staff were exceedingly pleasant and helpful. The one exception was a male member of the reception staff who I suspect is the same individual referred to in another recent review. Not sure that he really grasped the concept that his function is to provide a positive experience to hotel guests. His attitude verged on the arrogant, unfriendly and not the least bit helpful.

The choice of food in the restaurant is good and the staff exceedingly hard working. Unfortunately we had a bad experience following our last dinner as we both suffered severe diarrhoea and sickness, throughout the night and into the next day, which somewhat took the edge off an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. The drinks in the restaurant are reasonably priced.

The hotel has an extremely early check out time of 10.00. Thankfully we were able to extend this by a couple of hours, which gave us a bit more time to recuperate before our ‘tricky’ journey back to the UK.
