We had a great time in this hotel over Easter 2012. The hotel arranged for their Chauffeur to take us on a tour on Monday which was a Holiday there and It Was GREAT!!!!!!

The Hotel clerk who was named Samir was a big help and arranged the whole thing with the Chauffeur wose name was Gabriel. Thanks very much to the Hotel and their fabulous service. If we ever go back I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is right across the train tracks from the Beach and is it easy to get to the bach from the Hotel. The train station is nearly right in front of the Hotel and you can catch a train to Barcelona from there and even book a city tour at the train station.

Room Tip: All the rooms had balconies. The upper rooms were too close to the air conditioning units so it woul...

Had a nice stay in this hotel during April 2012. The weather wasn't great (only 2 days of sun in 7) and without the nice weather there isn't much to do locally.

We had a hire car which meant most days we were driving to other towns or resorts. Barcelona is a must - but its quite expensive to park €30 for day. We also went to Lloret De Mar for the day but was a bit more run down and "chavvy" than Santa Susanna / Malgrat.

Loads of German and Dutch football teams on tour staying around which personally didn't bother me as they made the bars a bit more livelier and are generally no bother - if a bit rowdy at times.

Half decent market on the main road on Tuesday's which was ok.

The hotel itself was very nice. Spacious rooms, friendly staff and also very nice food for a half board basis.

None of the facilities (spa, indoor pool etc) were open in April and we had to pay €3 to use the neighbouring pool as the outdoor one was too cold.
The evening shows were more aimed at the elderly Spanish residents staying within the hotel which was fair enough.

The only downside would be the noise between rooms. April time was quiet and the main guests were older Spanish visitors or families but TV's / Chairs moving and even snoring from other rooms was clearly audible. Not sure how busy the hotel gets in peak season but it maybe a small issue to light sleepers.

Hotel lobby quite impressive, hotel rooms average.
Food - very mixed quality some good/some bad (on occassions so salty that you could not eat it or toasted ham sandwich for dinner or no baked beans for breakfast).
Swimming pool too cold and probably small in season (we visited in April).
Nothing much in Santa Susana - to get to the sea you need to cross railway line.
Good base if you want to visit Barcelona.
At the time we used next door hotel indoor swimming pool which reflected badly on Onabrava - rude staff, instead of 3 Euros each - we ended up paying for swimming cups and towels (which Onabrava should have advised of)

i visited here july 2011 part of a cruise package a 7 night half board stay prior to a 7 night mediteranian cruise sailing from barcelona , a package with virgin holidays, me and my wife & son & daughter aged 11 & 14 . We stayed here cos it was part of a package so didn,t have much choice .This hotel is very modern and clean, rooms are basic and alot have side facing views, mainly next doors hotel balconys so not that nice a view. If you wanted a sea/ railway line view you had to pay extra , i tried but there was none available because they were limited due to fact that most rooms faced to the side , just the design of the building The hotel foyer is very modern ,all glass steel and marble not a spanish feel to it at all.The restaurant was clean & modern & very busy ,too busy at times not relaxing at all , people rushing about getting thier food, it was stressfull at times .The food on offer was very good ,and the waiters were very efficient and polite .The entertainment i can,t really comment on much but i think it was mainly geared towards other nationalities, probably because there wasn,t many british staying here, as a result of that we went out at night . The pool area was quite impressive and as usual people reserved sun beds which wasn,t supposed to be allowed but it was , i even put our towels out The atmosphere round the pool was ok but could have done with livening up a bit,a few games or music turned up a bit .The snack bar was nice for a bite to eat and a cold beer and a bit of people watching as it was near the street ,also the staff serving you worked very hard and were socialble towards you .There was a minimarket on site with a few tables & chairs outside so if your on a budget you could buy a sandwich & a cold beer and eat and drink it there ,all at shop prices. The location of hotel is at far end of the single road which is basicly a extension to malgrat de mar .There is a nice paved pedestrianised walkway infront of hotel leading to malgrat a15 minuite walk and farmers fields at back. The beach side of this resort is divided by a main railway line which is directly across the road basicly splitting this resort in two ,great for getting about ,but not exactly paradise on the eye.If you want to go to the beach you have to go under subways which are located at quite long distances apart. The sand on the beach is like crushed sea shells very sharp on your feet ,so we stayed round the pool rest of our holiday.Magrat & santa susanna don,t, have many british bars and i think not geared towards british that much, probably due to most visitors here were of other nationalities and that resulted in my children getting bored because almost most of the other kids were foreign and that created a laungage barrier .I honestly think the brits have been and gone as far malgrat de mar is concerned. We went to barcelona on the train for the day to see the sights and it was enjoyable but tiring as we chose to do it on foot rather than sight seeing bus. There is also a big street market on one day of the week outside the hotel ,it was very busy but ok .We found a british pub called The Ship on the beach side of the resort and we were made welcome and went there for thier pub quiz and bingo. All in all this hotel is immaculate, but if you are british and you and your kids like to socialise with others like yourself you will struggle due to it is not being a british influenced hotel or resort for that matter. I hope this review is helpfull thankyou

Room Tip: pay extra for pool /sea view room

After a brilliant 14 days at the Ona Brava last year my wife & I plumped for a last minute booking, 7 days 26th March to 2nd April.
Hotel was just as good as we expected from last year, same management, same staff, same impeccable service.
Vast open areas to relax, watch the Spanish Football on the giant screen or catch one of the nightly shows in the Theatre.
We went a week too early though as the outdoor market (on the doorstep) did not operate until the day we arrived back home.
Train Station 2 minutes walk means that you have total freedom to explore. Station staff speak good English and are very helpfull.
Having the Hotel playing host to about 4 dozen young Danish girls for a football tournament did not improve my blood pressure though.
As returning visitors we got a nice free gift surprise from the management (pity all hotels do not this).
Weather was superb but arrived home to 4" of snow, still got my Tan but frozen through.
Definately worth another trip but wont go so early next time.
If you get chance walk into Malgrat town centre and look for the lift going up to the Parc, you get a brilliant view over the whole area.
WiFi available but at a small charge, 4 or 5 Compters for Public use that are coin operated.

Room Tip: All rooms are good but ask for twin beds you will get more space. Rooms facing Malgrat have the sun...

enjoyed our stay and are looking for a return visit in the near future. All the hotel staff were very polite and helpful throught our stay. Our room overlooked the pool, had the sun all day which was just splended. We relaxed round the pool then retired to our balcony. The resturant offered a great variety at all meal times. We wandered round the local british bars but prefered malgrat just a short walk for nightlife. There is a street which has many bars we popped into The Champions bar which shows football on 2 big screens drinks are great value we noticed in some cases euros a difference. If you need a take away they have a kebab shop next door lol.

Room Tip: ask for a room over looking the pool, sun all day

Really pleased with this hotel. Everything about it is terrific. Rooms are bright, spacious and spotlessly clean and food excellent, always a great selection to choose from. All the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Would definitely recommend it to others.
