We have just returned from a weekend on a stay of 3 nights on arrival we were greeted
with our stay was for 2 nights and we were being moved on the third night as the hotel was closing down , staff at the reception were helpful i have to say rooms were very dated , food was quite good , there was a friendly barman in the dining area who was very pleasant ,
I found the staff in the main room in the bar area to be very rude , we were made to feel unwelcome no personality or smile . i could not stay here again ..

We booked our Autumn family half term trip with open eyes at the Royal Sun having read the numerous reviews. The hotel is dated but clean, the staff welcoming, the food predictably bland, but definitely not the worst we've had on similar holidays.

Paying a deposit for a spare key, safe key is pretty standard, first time I've had to pay for a remote control for a 1970's portable tv. Don't forget your receipts on check out for these items, simply giving them back isn't good enough for their paperwork.

The hotel is well located directly on the beach, a shame the weather was very mixed although the beach bar was great when dry. The pool's are not heated so don't be thinking the kids will swim, they won't.

We probably wouldn't go back although our day trip to Barcelona was superb and the the medieval night out at the castle was great fun for the family.

Room Tip: Avoid being on the side of the hotel where the railway track is, the trains run early/late and are l...

Hello there, my husband and I took our 2 year old grandson to this hotel for a short break. It's positioned on the beach and we found it great value for money. Admitedly the food was a little repetitive and the choice not particularly great, but we didn't go hungry. The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. We had a great sea view and the room was adequately furnished. The area surrounding the hotel had shops and bars and was relatively quite. (I suppose this was due to it being out of season). I think we would have struggled to spend a week or longer at the hotel as there wasn't too much to do with a young child. The hotel has two swimming pools but unfortunately the child ones at 0.75m were too deep for our grandson to use. This wasn't a problem as the beach is so close. I would suggest that you take beach towels to use as many people were being charged for sunloungers and then moving. The beach sellers were plentyful but didn't persist with trying to sell you items if you weren't interested. The Wine Palace is well worth a visit. Next to Carrefour, 15 mins walk from the hotel. Evening entertainment was okay and on every evening we were there. Coffee in the bar was also very good if you didn't want to drink alcohol all the time. All in all a very good hotel for a short break. We booked this through Easy Jet holidays. Thank you.

Room Tip: We were room number 411 which was directly opposite the sea!

We booked this hotel on a recommendation from friends. On arrival the staff were pleasant and were consistently helpful throughout our stay. Our room was cleaned daily housekeeping gave us fresh towels without asking. Our beds were comfortable and really clean. Room was nice and warm as the weather was chilly at the time of our visit. Our trip was all inclusive something we tend not to book. This is partly due to our reluctance to being restricted for meal times. We like to roam and find meals when we are hungry rather than let the clock dictate. This hotel was closing for the season the day after we left and I feel it would explain the poor food choices available at the time. Having read other reviews I would say it would be unfair to state this was always going to be poor. I feel had I visited with my children I definitely would have found it a struggle. Chips were available every mealtime. As was pasta. I feel as that being at the end of the season there wasn't a lot open nearby should we have needed to find food.
All inclusive has soft and alcoholic drinks included we found them to be pleasant but not so strongly alcoholic ,,,, I am not convinced the alcohol volume of the vodka i drank was more than 15% . The wine i tried at dinner was a rose and was delightful. A daily cocktail is available but if you want a one that is not on special you will need to need to pay a supplement.

The location of this hotel was lovely right on the beach front. We could walk to the metro station within 10 minutes and from there you could purchase tickets to travel to malgrat and the many other resorts which litter the stunning coastline.
The cost of tickets is extremely reasonable. We purchased 2 return tickets to Barcelona for under 17 euros. The metro system was excellent . I feel not all staff have the language skills to help if you get lost. But they do try and were again very pleasant. We noticed there was a high security presence. I am not sure if they have issues with crime. I did feel more comfortable for knowing they were there.
The journey on the metro to Barcelona took approx one hour and 10 minutes. Whilst in the city there was so much to explore. The hotel had given us a map which was useful. If you plan to visit the city more than once you can purchase a T10 ticket which allows you to use the trains metros and buses on 10 separate journeys. If you enjoy walking you can walk to some of the key tourist hotspots from the central square.
We would use this hotel again. This would be due to 3 main points Location, friendliness and cleanliness. It has 4 star however I would say in fairness it is as most have said more of a 3 star venue.

Room Tip: Majority of rooms are located at sides of hotel. We stayed on 2nd floor which was great we often use...

This Hotel is a typical Spanish 4*, We have stayed in a few H Top Hotels and this one was good great location (hotel cannot predict weather) on the beach. The train station is a 10 minute walk away however there is a bus stop a minutes walk away if you are travelling around the area. The Hotel was clean and tidy, although a bit dated it was fine. The restaurant staff we found to be very attentative and helpful and we certainly could not fault the food, there was ample for all, however vegans would struggle as most dishes contain meat, fish or eggs. The bar staff we found to be fine didnt have to wait that long (we have waited at lot longer for service at british pubs) even at the busy times. The glass card system may seem a bit strange at first but you soon get the gist. The reception staff were very helpful and informative about local services train timetables etc. We had a great time at the Royal sun hotel.

Room Tip: we stayed in 407 which was excellent, sea view and very quiet.

Very much as expected,in serious need of updating but very clean & tidy. The menu could do with a bit more variety but could always find something to fill you up, be warned lots of PORK cooked every different way you can think of.The glass card is basically a good idea as it stops people just discarding them everytime but for this not to cause frustration they need to rethink how to get the cards back as having to queue behind 20 people who are ordering a wide variety and number of drinks just to get 1 card back is really annoying. The bar staffing is my main gripe as no attention seems to be paid to the amount of guests around and the queues. The general area is quite good plenty of shops within walking distance and nice markets on a tues & thurs. On the whole a cheap n cheerful hotel not a 4* but be warned building work next door.

Room Tip: not near the building work

Rooms were awful, damp smell and very dated, not what you expect from a 4 star Hotel. Beach like grit, and litter lying around, great waves. The glass card at the bar was a pain you couldnt relax at the bar you had to queue for drinks and no waiter service. It was so bad I moved hotels not what I expected. I think it was rated 4 star when it opened and they havent modernised or refurbished it since.
