Me and my Fiance stayed at this hotel for 5 nights at the end of Aug/start of Sept and the hotel was everything we expected and more. Although the hotel is very nice, the main attraction was the total peace and quiet as well as beautiful views in all directions. .
The view from the pool area takes in the lighthouse, harbour and extensive views out to the sea which are perfect to admire with a beer in hand, and the sun beating down.
The rooms in the hotel are very classic and countryfied, reminding me of a cottage in the Cotswolds.
The breakfast is also pretty mega, with pastries, hams, chorizo, cheeses etc all vailable, not to mention some very good coffee.
We will definatley be returning to this beautiful village and this perfect hotel.

I very much agree with most other comments, this is a special place. A small scale hotel run by a couple, providing friendly service in a family atmosphere - that is something to cherish in Catalunya. The views over the cala of Llafranc are spectacular. We did not try the swimming pool, but it must be a real treat to enjoy the seaview from within the water on a warm summer night. The rooms are decorated in a cosy (they call it Provencal) style, which gives a romantic atmosphere. Having breakfast on the terrace was wonderful.
The hotel is outside of the center of the village in a quiet area uphill, and does not have a restaurant. So for dinner you will need to walk or drive down the hill to the village, where you can find several good restaurants. (I recommend Chez Tomas) The hotel does offer a cafeteria service: drinks, cocktails, sandwiches and snacks are available during the whole day. We will definitely come back.

Booked this hotel online through one of the standard hotel websites and got a confirmation from them and also from the hotel. Unfortunately the one from the hotel was entirely in Spanish so I was not 100% certain whether my booking was OK or there was a problem. However, on arrival everything was OK. Three of the staff speak good English, but the owner only has a smattering of English so it may help if you speak some French. We found that service in this hotel was excellent, and that is no doubt something that you pay for here as the hotel is fairly expensive. However the rooms were fitted out with quality furniture and bedding - our room was sort of vintage French country style. A good breakfast buffet with different pastries each morning, but no hot food. We loved the swimming pool, which was carefully tended to each morning so that it wasn't full for insects etc. The walk down onto the seafront of Llafranc took about 5 minutes, but the last 200 metres or so of the return lag was a very steep uphill to get your heart racing. We found that we preferred the resort of Calella de Parafrugell and found that although the walk was longer at around 20 minutes through the back streets, the walk back was a little less steep. We do not drive, and an airport transfer to this hotel from Girona cost us 85 euros, which was a fixed price. There is limited public transport available in this area and I think a car is required to get the best out of visiting the area. Having said that, we are walkers, and found that we we happy enough with a mixture of the local cliff paths and lying on beaches. We stayed for 7 days and also visited the Cap Roig gardens nearby which we highly recommend.

we have just returned from 8 nights at the blau mar hotel and we would defo go back! Myself and my husband and my 1 year old daughter went with my mum and dad and we had a great holiday. all the staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble, they really made you feel welcome. the room was vintage-modern look - very nice, enough space for us all and the grounds and pool are fab with stunning views of llafranc. my daughter loved her first holiday there and roaming around the grounds. it is on the top of a hill but the walk does you good ha and the views are worth it! i really love it when they light all the lanterns at night - the place looks stunning! we are hoping to return soon, i would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone - a great find!

Room Tip: we had a ground floor end room which is a must if you have children, felt safe for her to walk aroun...

Not sure what to say, just blown away. The staff were very helpful and friendly from the start. This is extremely unusual in Catalonia due to Catalans being ever so reserved and generally regarding you as lucky to be in their establishment but not here. The relaxed nature of the hotel does not detract from its obvious class. But again, not overly pompous and ever so accommodating of our two young children. They are making additions all the time and I would guess next would be a fully fledged restaurant as they serve just cold and heated food at present, albeit to a very high standard. So don't be fooled by the lowly star rating, this will be a five star hotel one day soon. The rooms are on the small side but beautifully appointed and the bathroom was actually quite large by comparison with a really deep and long bath. Everything looks really new and done in a 'New England' style rather than the usual overly contemporary sharp and bright finishes the Catalans usually offer. The pool is as gorgeous as it looks in the pictures and with only 17 rooms or so, you really feel special here. It is a the top of a steep hill we heard one couple complaining about but its tough to get a view from the bottom of a hill in my experience and the walk back from Llafranc is not that difficult even with two kids in tow. The area itself is just amazing, Llafranc and the various bays that make Calella de Palafrugell are really as nice as you would find in the most exclusive resorts in Italy and Sicily, even Hawaii-like in some areas. Tamariu is also very nice and all offer a huge variety of restaurants. Just be warned that none really open before 8.30pm for evening dinner so if you have kids be prepared to settle for burgers and such. We were surprised by that being a tourist area but the local tradition and timetable still hold. We will be going back but then it is only an hour up the road for us!
