“A lovely break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2013

Just returned from a lovely week at the Santa Barbara. We paid 350 euro for a 2 bed self catering apartment which exceeded my expectations. The apartment was very nice with 2 large bedrooms, decent bathroom and lounge area and a kitchen diner which had everything you could need for self catering. There is a large flat screen TV and DVD player in lounge with good English tv channels and some satellite channels.

The complex is very clean with a great pool area and amenities. There is construction work which was noisy at times when relaxing at the pool but otherwise a great stay.

There is a kids club with lots of activities. 15 min walk max to local town San Blas where there are bars and restaurants. Also good irish bar within 5 mins walk.

Only down point was mosquito bites - top tip get repellent and cream.

We have just got back from an absolutely amazing holiday at Santa Barbara Golf & Ocean Club. Greeted by the concierge (Riccardo) with a VIP champagne check in and then lead to our huge rooms which had the most amazing ocean view.
We stayed with our 2 children who loved having the heated kids pool as they spent 90% of their time in it. All the staff were extremely helpful and just added to the amazing time we had.
Both our room and the kids had an ensuite and there is a 3 shower room / toilet in the hallway.
Possibly the best stay we've had with diamond resorts. We will 110% be back and bringing friends too

We had a lovely stay here weather was hot but windy, the accommodation is great though there was a strong smell coming from the sewerage plant situated in the grounds, there were ants on our balcony and beware of the apparition in the bedroom of Villa 6 !, overall it was a great place to stay, the only down side is the night life in the town is non existent so u have to travel to go out at night, and there are we're a lot of older people in there.

Thank you for your review – we’re really pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay at the Santa Barbara Golf and Ocean Club! With regard to the sewage smell you have mentioned, please allow us to explain that the source of this is a sewage treatment plant situated on private land near to the resort – this situation has been under observation for some time, and our management team are currently in communication with the local authorities regarding this issue. We are genuinely sorry for any discomfort you experienced during your stay at Santa Barbara, but as we hope you can understand, the plant is not owned or controlled by the resort, and as such the resolution of this matter is unfortunately beyond our control. We sincerely hope that this issue didn’t mar an otherwise lovely holiday here, and we hope you’ll consider us for future visits to Tenerife – we’d love to see you again!

I booked two rooms at this hotel for 6 nights, one was a studio apartment for my in-laws which slept two, it was slightly on the small side and you had to pull the bed down from the wall each night, it was adequate however what it lacked for in space was made up by an amazing view of the sea and pool (room 408), the second room was a 2 bed apartment for my family and it was huge, the largest room I have ever stayed in on any holiday, 2 bedrooms, two bathrooms and a double balcony, only a slight view of the sea but to be honest that didn't bother me (room 201). There were building works going on during our stay which sometimes got noisy but most of the time didn't hamper our enjoyment and as a gesture of goodwill to apologise for the inconvenience of this the hotel left us a bottle of cava in our room on arrival. The whole place was spotless, beats even some of the 5 star places we have stayed in, staff were very helpful, even the builders were polite and friendly. Animation Team were brilliant and not too intrusive and we couldn't keep kids out of the kids club. We used the gym a couple of times, it was quite good and had a decent selection of weights and machines. Only negative points (and they are minor) are the swimming pool is very deep in places, wi-if expensive and kids mini disco started too late in comparison to some of the other hotels we have stayed at. As for the sewage smell that others have mentioned in previous reviews, in the 7 days we were there I think I noticed a brief whiff once when walking back to the apartment - not enough to put me off from staying here again. Would definitely recommend, a great place overall.

Room Tip: Corner apartments seem larger and try and choose at the front of he hotel for best view of sea and p...

Santa Barbara Golf & Ocean Club is a 'good' hotel - not great, but good. The lobby itself is lovely, with relatively happy staff. Our room was pretty impressive for what we paid; a large double room, a big bathroom and a good sized kitchen/dining room/lounge room, though the 'two beds' in the lounge were really a sofa and a mattress, but we weren't complaining.

This is not, however, a hotel for friends to come to. There is very little to do in the surrounding area, and the hotel itself is in ridiculously busy, the pool crowded to the point that it was uncomfortable to swim in. The overcrowding meant getting a sun lounger became something of a battle every day, and ironically the hordes of people are probably as a result of the hotel's selling themselves on the cheap in deals such as ours.

Outside of our room smelt of sewage, which was clearly a huge problem - the 'villas' on that far side of the hotel are lovely inside, as long as you don't open the windows. It was pretty disgusting, and seriously needs sorting out.

The holiday we had was fine, but it isn't a location that we'd come back to - there just isn't anything to do, and the hotel feels much cheaper than it looks at first.

Room Tip: Do not stay in the villas on the far side of the hotel (turning left) - I think we were number 9 or...

We are very sorry to read that you were not entirely satisfied with your stay here at Santa Barbara Golf and Ocean Club and found our location too quiet to your liking. We are also sorry to read that you have experienced some inconvenienvce due to the smell which may have been occassionally detected on the premises. We would like to assure you that we rarely receive drainage related complaints from our guests and should we have been contacted with regards to this, we would have tried to find an alternative apartment for the rest of your stay. We hope that one day you may give us another chance and pay usanothe visit, we wish you safe travels

This place is nice, I booked through "Secret Escapes" and hired a car (really easy to drive 'round here) and there was free parking next to the hotel. However, if you are worried about a hire car there is also parking you can pay for in the complex. Very clean, pool was immaculate and I think must have been partially heated and the view if you get a sea view is amazing. I would recommend it here.

Biggest down side was that I was supposed to have a hamper but they forgot. I should have mentioned it I suppose. Oh but the view!!!

Room Tip: Some people have mentioned that there is a smell in certain apartments but this is all around that c...

We are really pleased that you chose to stay at the Santa Barbara Golf and Ocean Club, and that you had a lovely time here! We’re extremely sorry that your hamper was inadvertently overlooked, though, and we sincerely regret any disappointment that this caused to you – our front desk team would have been more than happy to look into this if it had been brought to their attention during your stay, though.

We really hope that this didn’t spoil your stay here, and we’d love to see you again!
