Just arrived back home from a week in the Santa Barbara Resort. My girlfirend and I got a good deal through Groupon.ie.
We found the Resort to be very clean throughout apart from a nasty smell around one side of the Resort but didn't bother us much!
The staff were very friendly and will look after you.
Our room had everything we needed and liked the iHOME docking station for our iPhones. The flat screen tellys were good too.
The pool area is very clean plenty of space to more around in. Water is crystal clear and clean. We found that we had to get down to the pool around half eight in the morning to get a good spot to sit because we missed out the first morning we were there.
The restaurant upstairs is very nice and food is good.

Very happy with my experience there and will definitely consider going back there.

Just back from a fabulous week's relaxation in the Santa Barbara Resort - couldn't rate this hotel & apartment complex enough. We stayed as part of a groupon deal which was such a great discount on the Hotel's normal prices and as we hadn't prior experience of the Resort (apart from reading the TripAdvisor recommendations!) we booked a week's stay. Weather circa 30/35degrees with a lovely breeze the first few days. In my opinion, this resort caters for families and couples wanting a quiet, relaxing holiday experience.
Our apartment was spotless, cleaned 3 times during the week! The Hotel and Apartment complex was first class - a lot of renovations going on but didn't interfere with our holiday. Our request for a sea view apartment was granted with a wonderful view of the marina and the Hotel organised a taxi transfer for us from the Airport to the Hotel on arrival which was so efficient. Every type of utensil you could ask for was provided in the apt. kitchen - spotless apartment, even had a note under the bed stating "yes, we clean here too!". The bedroom had a massive bed and there was also a pull out sofa bed in the living room area. The bathroom was also spotless. Our apartment (no. 703) would comfortably fit 2 adults and 2 children, no more!. Our daughter had an absolute ball with other children on holidays there and the small pool was just a perfect depth for her (had been recently renovated in 2013). The pool areas were spotless and so well maintained. However, the pool toilet facilities could be cleaned more during the day as they were extremely slippy and lacked toilet paper/waste paper basket overflowing on a no. of occasions. However, when mentioned to staff, it was taken care of. The Animation Team of Johnno, Laura and Damian were exemplary - with such a natural affection for children and it showed, they had so much energy and worked really long hours with always a smile on their faces. Whoever, recruited them to the resort, recruited excellent team members, who know what it means to make parents and children's holidays an excellent experience. Our daughter loved the mini-disco's and the nightly entertainment e.g. Robbie Williams Experience, San Juan celebration - which was great fun. The Animation team offered free massages, facials and nail art/painting during the day which was lovely for children. There was also a professional masseuse on site (located at the back exit gates - near the pools) and she was excellent together with a skincare/suncare specialist. There was also nightly music entertainment in the "Ocean Breeze Bar" - which was well designed and inviting. The pool side restaurant food was "hit and miss" - one day good, another day bad in terms of quality of food which was such a pity for a prime location near the pool areas. Was fairly priced but deterred us from using the "Little Italy" restaurant in the Hotel (reports of this restaurant (Little Italy) from other holiday makers was very positive with a 2 for 1 deal available). We were overcharged on three separate occasions at the poolside bar/restaurant but this was rectified once it was mentioned to the waiters. Reception staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Our daughter received bed time stories twice during the week, delivered to our apt. - which was a fab touch and she loved the stories. Well stocked supermarket on site in the complex which was keenly priced compared to the supermarket located across the road from the complex. Later in the week, we found a large supermarket in San Blas (nearby town) which was excellent also sold clothes - well worth a visit to stock up on any groceries you need at the start of your holiday. The Supermarket on site sold kids plastic inflatable water toys of "seal's" and "jet ski's" which the staff on site in the supermarket would inflate for you and our daughter and her pool buddies had a ball with those toys (€8 each). We had an excellent meal/Tapas in "Tapas, Pia del Oro", in San Blas - could not recommend this tapas restaurant enough also served main meals - the prawns main course was to die for! - fabulous. "Gulliver's" Restaurant in San Blas also came recommended but was not open when we got there. We had another excellent meal near our Hotel in "Mama Roma" - Italian Restaurant (turn right outside the main exit of the Hotel, walk circa 0.5Km and the Restaurant is located on the left - up by the side of apartments - it is signposted from the walkway). First class restaurant and very modern with very friendly staff, the toilets are external to the Restaurant (which was a bit odd!) - although old, they were very clean. La Marina restaurant (located out the back gate of the hotel - turn to your right on leaving the Hotel and walk along that strip and the Restaurant's are located on the right hand side) was also fairly good. We went to the Chinese Restaurant near our hotel (located on the same strip as La Marina and La Marina II Restaurants) - had a terrible meal in the Chinese Restaurant (the food was clearly refried/recooked a no. of times before serving!) even though, the staff are very friendly. It (Chinese Restaurant) was recommended to us but turned out to be a very disappointing experience for us. Bistro 27 also came recommended but we didn't get an opportunity to eat there even though we heard some good reports about that restaurant so probably worth a try. We didn't go to Loro Parque or do any sightseeing during the week as all our daughter wanted was 7 hours per day in the pool with her buddies and she was happy out! There was also a "Courtesy Room" - newly renovated - fab facility offering showers etc for those getting late flights home who wished to avail of the pool facilities during their day of departure. Also, a lovely waiting area (renovated) downstairs where you could use to access the internet or read books. The Hotel also provided a luggage weighing scale facility - very thoughtful and useful for those on Ryanair Flights!
Overall, we had an excellent holiday - our daughter said it was a "class" holiday. Will definitely return to Santa Barbara Resort - as it was our first time using this resort, we booked it for a week but must definitely say, we regretted not staying there two weeks but hopefully, will get to do so next year. Also, you can check in any day of the week you like (not restricted to Saturday to Saturday etc) which is useful, based on available flights. Could not recommend the Santa Barbara Golf & Ocean Club enough - first class experience!. Will definitely return. Thank you to all the Resort staff members for making our holiday so enjoyable and memorable. We really appreciate it.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the newly renovated rooms on booking. We were on level 7 and it was very quiet. Som...

this is a nice place to stay if you are looking for some pool time. the weather is warm and windy, but it's not at a beach. There also aren't many activities that take place on site, you have to be bussed to them all. The first day we showed up was a little nickel and dime-y. It seemed like every time we asked for something the response was, "there's a charge for that." The staff is very nice and friendly, but I felt like it was mis-advertised.

Just had a relaxing week in the sun. Cannot complain about the resort itself...other than the odd whiff of bad drains!
Henri on reception clearly takes his job very seriously and provides the best customer service we have ever received in a hotel. Our apt was newly refurbished and all white and immaculate. Fully equipped kitchen and amazingly soft bedding. Beds changed 3 times in the space of a week and kitchen bin emptied daily.
After reading the reviews on here we were a bit apprehensive about this resort. We purchased a deal on Groupon so was a bit of a gamble. If you are looking for bars and all night dancing then this place is not for you! If you are looking for a week of complete relaxation in quiet surroundings with a choice of places to eat at night then this is the place for you! We sunbathed all day on the comfiest of sun loungers and found a quiet part of the pool area away from the kids!
At night, there are 3 choices; out of the bottom gate and turn right and there you will find a selection of around 5 restaurants to choose from. Out of the bottom gate and turn left and walk along the path for around 15 minutes and there you'll find another collection of restaurants or finally, out the main entrance and turn left for a few more. There is an Irish bar too with free wifi. Forgot to mention to only downside of the resort being that you have to pay for wifi! Around £25 for the week.
All in all, a good deal for a Groupon gamble!

We wanted a relaxing holiday in lovely surroundings and we got it. Santa Barbara lives up to the high standards set by Diamond Resorts in every respect. The staff are all friendly and helpful. We booked a room upgrade but weren't too pleased with our first floor room and asked for a higher one. We were immediately moved to the 8th floor to a large apartment that exceeded our expectations. As we were vacating our room on the last day a painter was waiting to enter to freshen up any blemishes before the next guests arrived.
The Little Italy Restaurant should not be missed, Very wide choice on the menu, special theme nights and all dishes prepared by Chef Pedro are high quality, well presented and ample portions. Manager Jose and all his staff are very client focussed and thank you for reserving that window seat for us each night. Only disappointment was Barbecue night but Jose knows he needs better facilities for that.
Pool sunbeds are tightly packed in and sometimes insufficient to meet the demand. Ideally, they need to acquire a plot of land outside the pool area as a quiet sun terrace above the rocky beach. Installation of wifi internet during 1st quarter 2013 is an improvement but is currently slow, suffers from server losing internet connection, inability at times to connect to mail services and upload failures at peak times suggesting upload speed/capacity can't meet demand. Guess this will be improved in time.
Don't buy the 18 euro food starter pack that is well over priced; visit the on-site supermarket or, better, the one in SAN Blas, a short walk to the east. Despite these criticisms, we enjoyed a lovely holiday, including trips to Mount Teide and La Gomera island and would visit Santa Barbara again.

Room Tip: We preferred a room on the higher levels with sea view

This is the perfect place to stay if you like sun and wind for long walks along the sea front. Not a beach in sight but plenty of rocks and fantastic views. The hotel is under refurbishment so quite noisy through the day.Lovely pool and pool bar with friendly staff and good food. The evening entertainment in the clubhouse is usually quite good and varied so no need to go out on an evening if you wished not to.A few bars and restaurants along the front with a fair bit of live entertainment but also very quiet so enjoyable for couples without young children. Some of the rooms are refurbished but even the older designed rooms are pleasant.A lovely place to stay if not wanting to be in the thick of things.

Room Tip: Ask for a room directly facing the sea.
