“second visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2013

this was our second visit to santa barbera, staff were just as wonderful nothing was to much trouble, apartment again excellent and very clean with comfortable beds.now some constructive criticism,as we booked early and asked for a sea view we were told on arrival that it was decided the week before how the apartments were allocated,so if you got a last minute very cheap bargain you could get a better view than someone who had paid full price.as it was we were allocated an apartment facing the road which was noisy and we were woken a couple of times by noisy people at 4pm.in the morning.we paid for half board on three consecutive days there was no jam available for those who wanted a continental breakfast.also the menu for dinner needs to be extended for those who do not eat pasta there also needs to be a vegetarian option, the food is very nice though.however we did enjoy our holiday at the santa barbera despite these minor difficulties.

Room Tip: do not accept a room facing the road very noisy.

My boyfriend and I booked a weeks stay here from 5th-12th October and couldn't wait for a relaxing week away in the sun.

We arrived a little earlier than check out and thought we would have to kill some time before being able to check in so were pleasantly surprised that we were able to check in straight away and go straight up to our room.
As it was my birthday my boyfriend had requested a refurbished sea view room (he was also offered champagne and chocolates for the room too however he had already bought these himself so was no need) and we were not disappointed!

Our room was on the 3rd floor and had a lovely view of the sea and the hotel grounds. It was quiet and had everything you could possibly need! Air conditioning in the bedroom and the lounge was a god-send and it was also equipped with satellite tv's in both the bedroom and the lounge with plenty of UK Channels as well as many other international channels so suit everyone. There were even ipod docks in both the bedroom and the lounge which was a lovely additional touch - as well as very handy for charging your phone!

The hotel itself was clean and the staff were all so friendly and helpful. We visited the concierge desk for some advice on ticket prices and directions to Loro Parque and Siam Park. A lovely english gentleman helped us and we were even able to buy our tickets at the hotel - saving us queuing when we got there! They were really clued up about what there was to do around the island and had lots of information to provide us with.

When we booked the holiday we had planned to explore the island lots (my boyfriend is not one for lazing by the pool!) but we spend 5 out of 7 days beside the pool! The pool area was lovely, lots of sunbeds - sometimes there was a little shortage but we always managed to find some - and there were two pools - a smaller shallower pool perfect for children and the larger pool which was lovely! We would definitely reccommend the pool bar - the staff there were so friendly and the food was delicious with lots of choice!

There are lots of restaurants in the surrounding area and we tried most of them! Just down the road from the hotel along the seafront path there are a number of restaurants, including one on the corner opposite the japanese restaurant which was so delicious we visited twice! One restaurant i would definitely recommend is the Rendezvous - we went here on our final night as it was a little more pricey than some of the others but it was stunning food and the staff were wonderful. Our only disappointment was that there was nowhere really serving authentic spanish food so we had to venture elsewhere to find proper tapas and paella.

I would definitely reccommend getting a car as other than restaurants there is little to do in this area unless you are there to play golf. Having never driving abroad before my partner was a little worried however Tenerife is so easy to drive around we were able to explore other areas of the island so easily. it's only 10 minutes from Playa de las Americas and Los Christianos and 15 mins from the airport - so easy!

We had the best holiday here and were so sad to leave it behind, we cannot wait to come back and visit again!

Thank you Santa Barbara :)

Fantastic value for money. Unfortunately only stayed for 12 hours, due to an early flight. Would have liked a day more to make use of all offers of the resort. Unless you are a golfer, there seems not to be much to see and do near the hotel. But the resort is beautiful and close to the airport.
We had dinner in the restaurant also very good value for the price.

Stayed here last year with my partner and another couple. I would definitely recommend car hire if your staying here as it is in a quieter resort than christianos and Americas, but this is not a bad thing. The hotel itself is gorgeous. Our hotel room had everything we could possibly need. The grounds are lovely, pool is great, the gym was nice and clean. It's the nicest hotel I have stayed in. My only regret was that we only ate at the hotel on the last day. (I'm paranoid about hotel food being overpriced and poor quality) the restraunt upstairs was amazing and not too dear compared eating out anywhere else. The breakfast at the poolside bar was the best wed had all week. And again not dear. I would of ate here most of the week had I known. As eating out in Tenerife is a bit hit and miss. All in all this hotel made my holiday :) don't get me started on how comfy the bed and pillows were.

We went here last (2012) January and loved it! Having never been to the Canary Islands before, we weren't really sure what to expect, what part to stay in or anything else really!
I found the Santa Barbara via Travel Republic and was very impressed with the discount offered over the hotel's own tarrif. After some dicussion we decided to go with it, and we could not have been happier.
We arrived around 11 a.m and had to wait a couple of hours for our room to be ready, but when we reached our apartment, it was worth the wait. We had a lovely sea view, a fantastic queen sized bed which I would have packed in my suitcase to bring home, it was so comfy, a bathroom with an over-bath shower, and a separate living room and fully equipped kitchen. There was an in-house supermarket for shopping needs, although just a mile down the road was a better and larger supermarket. However, we didn't intend to self-cater other than breakfast, so we only needed basic essentials.
We used the hotel's restaurant most evenings. There was ample choice, even for a fussy eater like me, and each night had a different themed option, e.g. Local quisine, an Italian night, Barbeque etc. There were other restaurants a very short walk from the hotel, and one night we did go to a local Indian restaurant, but decided that the hotel's was better value.
There was a huge swimming pool, a little cold at that time of year, but we nevertheless braved it a few times. We also used the gym facility (quite limited) and the spa (also very limited to a simple jacuzzi) and the launderette (perfectly adequate). Also, once you had purchased a 5 litre bottle of water, you could refil from a water fountain for a very small amount of money - I think it was 5 litres for less than 1 Euro. There were gated exits to the sea front which were only openable with your hotel swipe card. The concierge facility took great pains to assist when booking any trips, and also when we had to confirm our pick-up time for departure. They also came for our suitcases when requested.
The one downside was the fact that the complex is part of a large timeshare group, and we were persueded along to one of their presentations which took up almost a whole day, although we had no intention of being sucked in! I guess the reason we got such a good deal was because of the time of year, not many people were opting to go so they wanted to fill the hotel in some way.
Actually I'm quite glad of that option, because I've booked to go again at the end of February, again with Travel Republic, and again at a bargain price. We won't be agreeing to the timeshare presentation this time though!

Room Tip: Trynot to have an apartment overlooking the pool. It can get a bit noisy!

We stayed at the Santa Barbara from the 1st January and it lived up to it's reputation. It is a fantastic place to stay. The accommodation was very clean and spacious and we had an appartment with a sea view. It was checked daily from what I could see and we were given clean towels half way through the week, as well as it being cleaned. All the staff on the reception were great and nothing was too much trouble. We ate at the restaurant in the hotel twice, on the first and last day and both times the service was lovely and very helpful. The hotel seems to have thought of everything. It has a supermarket, laundrette, gym, a large outdoor swimming pool, a lovely new children's pool and a new large outside jacuzzi under a roof from the sun, it is very relaxing. There is also a complimentary room for those with later flights. It has two small jacuzzi's, a sauna, a shower, two massage chairs and seating with a small library of books. We didn't go to the w club but had drinks in the ocean breeze bar which were reasonably price and the setting is calming. We used the free wifi in the reception area a few times but the signal can drop. We enjoyed eating at a lovely restaurant in Los Abrigos which we walked along the coast line to get to. We took a taxi to Los cristianos beach twice and the children had a great time. The beach was clean, the sea clear and close to lots of place to eat and drink. One of the highlights for the whole family was the submarine tour. We got to see lots of fab fish, sea bream, sardines, trumpet fish but the large stingray were amazing. We had a great time in Tenerife and we are looking forward to the next time we stay at the Santa barbara.

Have visited here before (as a child) and have to say it's still as beautiful as I remember it. The receptionist was very helpful when we arrived and the apartment we stayed in was lovely, and had a gorgeous view of the marina (first time I've stayed somewhere and not had a pool-view).
The complex was spotless (despite renovations going on), the staff were all friendly and helpful, and the weather, despite being forecast for storms, stayed blindingly sunny the whole time.
For the first time we dined in the restaurant in the complex and I have to say, it was a wonderful surprise - lovely food, great atmosphere, and if you were lucky you and had a seat by the window you could see the evening entertainment on the patio below. I'm only sorry we didn't find out about this restaurant until near the end!
The only thing I will say is that, due to this visit being outside of peak tourist season it was far too quiet for us, both is the resort and the surrounding area - especially at nights.
Will definitely be back here though!
