This was our third visit to Altamadores in recent years and it did not disappoint. The quality of the rooms, food & entertainment were to the usual excellent standards.

The hotel's biggest asset is its entertainer Jamie G. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Our two little ones Lily & Harry were thoroughly entertained & we are looking forward to coming back next year.

Thanks to the mother and father in law, we have just returned from our 2 week break away at the altamadores.
From the time we arrived we knew we were going to enjoy the holiday, when we entered the apartment it was clean and spacious including a fridge, freezer, microwave and other facilities for anything you may need, with a bottle of water left in the fridge for when you arrive. The beds were comfortable, although only 1 pillow was given per person, but as soon as you request another they have given one immediately. The rooms were cleaned most days with just a couple of days without and towels changed most days too. Do make sure you put down the towel meant for outside of the shower as it can be very slippy if not.
We were situated on the top floor which had a table and 4 chairs and looked out to the swimming pool and further you can see the beach which would be maybe a 20 minute walk.
If you like to view other parts of gran canaria then you can walk to Puerto Rico or even take a Taxi for 4 euros, we also took a ferry to Mogan (little Venice) which is about a 20 minute journey and has a market on a Friday.
The hotel has two swimming pools, one for the young children and another large pool which at first is cold but you soon get used to it, is refreshing when you have been laying in the sun. There are plenty of sun beds to be used with lots of parasols for when the heat gets too intense..
Outside the hotel, next door there is a shop which is not very big but holds most things you could possibly want. The other shops are about a ten minute walk from the hotel and it's quite a steep walk however it's quite pleasant. I'm sure a taxi is only a couple of euros for those unable to walk it.
The drinks were fab and you could serve yourself from a slush machine to beer on tap. There was always plenty plenty of food put out and different theme nights however can sometimes be a little repetitive although we are quite fussy eaters.
I would say the greatest gift the hotel offers is Jamie G who supplies your entertainment for the holiday, during the day Jamie G would organise water polo, killer pool, killer darts, and a quiz throughout the day, on the evening Jamie would try to get an atmosphere going with children's games, them some games for the adults to play before various shows were on. Afterwards most nights there was bingo to play and then some karaoke for those who love a good sing song.
Jamie is such a lovely bloke and is polite and cares about each and every guest no matter what age, he is only too happy to help with any issues people may have. He is a credit to the hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would have no hesitation about returning, with all of us attending needing an excuse to relax I can honestly say this hotel catered for it.

We can honestly say we thoroughly enjoyed this holiday. The hotel is located on the top of a cliffside with stunning views over the bay. The apartments are well maintained and are clean and a good size. Buffet style restaurant - and help yourself bar - what more do you need?

Our holiday was made more wonderful by the staff and the people we met. A lovely group of people from Stevenage and Aberdeenshire, Claire and Dave from West Midlands and best of all Andy and Vicky from Manchester - the king and queen of quizzes - that's actually why we started to talk to them because we wanted to be on their team!! lol...

Can we mention Jamie G who made our holiday with his knowledge on music and no. 1 hits, great fun in the afternoon sitting round the pool and playing his quizzes, what a great bloke and he really tries to get you involved and to be honest if you do the more you get to meet other people.

I have to say the fun part is the Bingo part! and the chance to win some Euros every night.. why not indeed. We love bingo we do..

Can we also mention the staff, especially the bar staff - we named the guy behind the bar Tony Drago (ex snooker player) so our apologies for not knowing your name but top guy.

so overall recommend to one and all.

Visited Atamadores for first time over half term holiday, 2 adults, 2 children. Had an lovely holiday. Hotel very clean and tidy; all staff very friendly; entertainment is briliant for all ages, pool very cold though! Enough to keep the kids entertained; no problems getting sun beds plenty to go around, will definitely be going back again

Room Tip: as for quiet room as some directly behind entertainment area, but that does finish at 11pm prompt

This was our second visit to the Altamadores in 2 years, and it was even better than last time. We loved every minute of our stay. The hotel was quieter than last year due to it being early season and improvements being made to the rooms, but we liked this as you could easily get a sunbed at any time, and the pool was almost empty.
The staff are brilliant throughout the hotel from manager to bar staff and maids. Then there is the entertainment crew, they are in our opinion the best we have ever seen. Especially Jamie G, we loved his quizzes as well as all the other activities like killer pool, killer darts, water polo, and stuff for the kiddies too. Won so many times didn't pay for the first game of bingo all holiday. Managed to win a few times at bingo too, always a bonus. Love bingo !!!
One of the best things we find about this hotel is the friendly family feel you get here, we met so many great people this year. A special mention to Drew and Laura who we met on our first week there. I can honestly say we haven't laughed as much, Andy and Drew were like 2 kids at times it was hilarious. We also made many more friends like Dave and Claire, Derek, John and their families, James and Nichola, Freddie and Wendy, and Tim, Tracy and kids, and Sam and Billie. I'm sure I've missed someone out so apologies if I have. We really hope we see you all again soon.
We are definitely going to return to the hotel, and I would recommend it to anyone. Thank you again for all at the Altamadores for a fabulous holiday.

My wife and I recently returned from a 10 day stay at these apartments and overall I can only fault it on a couple of things. The accommodation is superb and although the complex is all inclusive, the apartments have very well equipped kitchenettes including huge refrigerator/freezer and microwave. The pool area is very good with an ample supply of sunbeds and parasols, although at various times during the day the so called entertainment was a fashion show which was just an excuse to sell beachwear etc, A Suncare Advisor, whose primary task was to sell sunscreen, and a Scuba Diving expert trying to sell dives. The entertainment team proper consists of Jamie, a very friendly and likeable Scot and nobody else. This unfortunately leaves a lot of gaps as he only works from about 1300-1600, and 1930-2300.He also has two days off a week which means that on Monday there is no entertainment at all, although on the evening of the second day off, the lady from the Foot Spa took over as compere and sang a bit.
If you like Bingo you will be in heaven here as it is played every night except Mon. but I do think that it should be played earlier in the evening because it takes place after the cabaret. There is then very little time left for Karaoke or dancing etc. as the bar shuts bang on 2300 and everyone is rushed outside to the pool area and the doors shut. (you get drinking up time in UK)
I appreciate that this would be difficult because the evening entertainment area is also the dining room and dinner doesn't finish until 2100.One solution might be to have Bingo around the pool
area before the cabaret and cut out the pre cabaret quizzes.(Jamie is obsessed with his quizzes)
All that being said, we did have a lovely time and met some smashing people and I would have no hesitation in recommending this place because all the staff are so helpful and friendly. and if I could make a suggestion to the management it would be a nice gesture to the guests to remove the coin boxes from the Televisions and allow us to watch our home news or a film without paying a Euro for an hour. After all they use hardly any electricity !
Would we stay here again? Probably not, because in spite of the spectacular views , the location is a bit remote from the centre of the resort. It would have been nice to nip out to the beach and other venues for meals and drinks etc. without having to take a taxi because nice as it is, the food does tend to be a bit repetitive and the hotplate is not very efficient at keeping it warm for long. We were however impressed with the self service on the drinks and the outside terraces at most of the apartments with individual sunbeds.(the balconies only have table and chairs) I agree with other reviewers that the apartments 401-434 are probably the best for convenience to everything although I would say that all the rooms are of the same standard with similar views and noise is not a problem for any of them because there just isn't any! All in all a good experience and I hope that any criticisms I've made are constructive
and have not offended anyone.

Room Tip: 401-431 with terraces are the best and handy for meals pool bar etc.

This is my second review on the Altamadores, I have now been over a few years 5 times and we always enjoy our stay, some people we met there have been 11 times. It seems a lot of people go back because it is brilliant. You cannot fault the food we have stayed in 4* and have not enjoyed the food, there are 2 bbq's a week and that is fabulous. The management are very good and the staff very friendly nothing is too much trouble. They take a serious view on people causing any trouble zero tolerance. We walk to the beach which is stunning and the views just as stunning and if you get a taxi back is very cheap. Jamie the entertainments animator very good and the entertainment is good. Something on most nights better than most hotels we have stayed in. Met a lot of fabulous people whilst there this year and never stop laughing gets better every time we go. We are hoping to all go at the same time again next year to meet up and have a great time again. Our room was clean and bed was comfortable especially with a topper. Altamadores we love it, hope to see you again next year. Jean and Alan

Room Tip: We love the upper rooms over the swimming pool.
