“High quality AI”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2013

I stayed here with friends a year past October. I had been to Puerto Rico once before and quite enjoyed it but this was the first time I had been all inclusive. I have been to other resorts since on the same board basis but have not found the standard to be as good as the Altamadores. we have booked up again for this October as we know what to expect. Good sized rooms with great views, cheap taxis to a beautiful beach or to the town centre (shopping centre), great pool, fantastic self service bar with proper beer and an excellent choice of food. We never ate out once as the good was of a really good standard for AI standards. The weather clearly helps make the holiday better but I really couldn't fault these apartments and look forward to returning. The price this time has gone up but we still feel the value is excellent, considering how much it would cost to eat and drink in town every day / night.
Entertainment is ok, if you don't like it then there are plenty other places at the top or in the main town at the bottom. It is a fantastic resort for chatting to people and socialising, it really lends itself to that.
Really looking forward to returning here in October where it is that bit quieter but still has atmosphere.

Room Tip: All rooms will look down towards the beach as you are high up. No air con but fans in rooms. Didn...

Had a fantastic two weeks again and will be booking the same two weeks for next year, We did not do our normal walks up & down the hills as I had gout in my left foot so most of the walking to the bar & back. Not recommended to drink alcohol with the tablets so put the tablets away till I returned home. The weather was kind to us again with sunshine every day until we were returning to the airport & it started raining so I hope it did not last long for the sake of the friends we had left there. The food & service was excellent as usual & our fellow holiday makers were all nice to know & some will be back next year so a big thank you to all the staff & fellow holiday makers & friends for an enjoyable two weeks in the sun from Col & Bet

Spend 10 days at the beginning of May this year at the Altamadores Apartments in Puerto Rico. This was our third visit to Puerto Rico, and our first with the kids and the fist all inclusive. The apartments are not exactly central, and you are on the side of a hill, but the taxis are cheap enough to get around as needed back up the hill if required. Apartments were clean, cleaned regularly and just what was required. Not fancy but everything we needed. Kids enjoyed the pools with other families present to make friends. Entertainment was good in the evenings, not too much going on for the kids in the days especially, but with other kids around it did not matter. Food was good and varied, if a little repetitive towards the end, but I could say that for most all inclusive I've been on. Weather was great which obviously helped, and would be happy to come here the next time we choose Gran Canaria.

Room Tip: Rooms 301 or 302 are ideal for more than 2 kids as they are the largest in the place as far as we co...

me and jon had a fab time at the altamadores, we were there in October last year and then again at the end of april. we met lots of lovely people there too. we quite enjoy the walk to Puerto Rico and to the Europa Centre but it is very steep. the rooms are spotless and are cleaned regularly and clean towels when u need them. the food is great and there is something for everybodys taste. all the staff are very friendly and polite. the entertainment is good with different shows on every night and the entertainer Jamie is a really nice fella and interacts well with everyone. I would recommend anyone to go there.

Myself and a friend chose these apartments following reviews on here. We had room 525, balcony and back of the complex - the best place as the previous review has said!
We had table and chairs, apartments below us had sunbeds of their own and the table and chairs.
They were cleaned thoroughly 6 out of the 7 days, towels changed sufficiently and bedding is changed on the 8th day of a stay.
If you walk out of the apartments and turn right head up to the roundabout you will locate a slight dirt track, walk up this and you can watch the sunset over Mount Teide - I dont think you will ever be dissapointed.

Turn left out of the apartments you have the following 2 choices:
Walk down the hill 15 mins and your on the beach - taxi back!
2 loungers and an umbrella - 10 Euros or if you keep walking you can walk around the headland to Puerto Rico - not totally flat but suitable for push chairs etc.

2nd choice turn left ouf of the apartment and walk up the hill follow this road round keeping to your right and it goes around to the Europa Centre (which people said was rubbish) down the side of the Europa centre is 802 steps down to Puerto Rico Beach - well worth the walk for the views not suitable for push chairs.

Ferry trip from Puerto Rico to Puerto Morgan (market day Friday) is 10 Euros return if you get the 10.30 Friday morning ferry it goes out to the Dolpin Zone at no extra charge - a dolphin did appear for us but it was so fast hardly anyone saw it! The market was not that good but Puerto Morgan is so pretty so I would say go just to see the lovely traditional properties.

Almadores Beach was lovely, we hired sunbeds on Bank holiday Monday and they were on a concrete plinth with views out to see and the beach behind us, however the next day and for the rest of the week this area was closed as they are building a better sea defence so there was a JCB there every day dropping concrete blocks!

The complex entertainment was ok, not sure I agree with Skunks, Turtles, Parots, Falcons, Owls and Eagles being paraded about and then if you want a photo taken a fee of 20 Euros!
Bingo and karoke was played nightly - again not my kind of thing.
Circus act - 2 people - was ok but the guy who sang the rock songs was by far the best.
Bar closed dead on 11pm.

Food was ok as I am a fussy eater Im not really the right person to comment, what I did eat I had to warm in the microwave though even when it had just been put out but that wasnt a big deal. The desserts were lovely and plenty of choices, ice cream available and yes we also adapted slush puppies with rum! The bar is help yourself - not a wide range of choices but enough, rum, brandy, a couple of liquers. White/Red wine and plenty or pre brought/made sangria which if you add more brandy too gives it an extra kick!

The shop and fish spa by the pool is not really needed especially when fish spa's have had some bad press in the UK, the shop was awful and tried to make out they had a sale on, howvever the little shop under the apartments stocked anything you may need - large bottles of water, cigerettes, crisps, chocolates.

Room Tip: 525 although the lift is by this apartment you do not hear it at all. The balcony was nice as it got...

Myself, my partner, brother, his wife and my parents have just returned (very brown) from a week at Altamadores Apartments. After reading a number of reviews we were confident we had chosen the right place, and we weren't disappointed.

Very friendly staff on arrival & throughout our stay here. Rooms were cleaned daily, apart from on Sunday (which is understandable) and hand everything you required, if you're staying self-catering. We were All Inclusive, and found the food to be of good standard. Sometimes a little cold, but you just have to time it right. Best night we had was on Monday night, Canarian Buffet, everything on offer was so good and cooked to perfection - couldn't fault it (I would be worried otherwise, as we were in the Canary Islands). Self-service bar is really good, although the alcohol is very basic, the alcoholic slush-puppies are ingenious!!
Entertainment was run of the mill, but made so much better by Jamie G.. bingo was always good fun, won over €100 on my 1st night and the quiz isn't too bad either. Enjoyed the reptile guy, although he didn't have a lot to offer, he made it very fun for everyone to join in.

Location is a bit out of the way, but like everyone says it's no more than €3 up the hill - the apartments all look over Amadores beach, by far the best beach around with plenty of food & drinking places. My partner and I went out for an evening meal at the Beach Club, best Paella I've tasted and great service - although it is a bit up market, so expect to dress up a little & pay a little extra, all well worth it though.

All in all, a great relaxing holiday and would recommend to anyone who is unsure of a good quality cheap get away.

Room Tip: All rooms are basically the same, we stayed at 527 - far enough out the way so it's not too nois...

me and Lou had a brill holiday from the beginning to end with lots of laughs, we met lot of lovely friends, some who are still there too enjoying themselves....our only downfall was the hills...ok to walk down but definately need a taxi back..well i did anyway..lol.

Food was really good and had great choices despite how many people moan about it...we are just not picky eaters like others which is a bonus.

Rooms were very big and clean with huge balcony's...our room was too warm and we was stuggling to sleep so we ask to be moved to a higher floor which they did straight away...also very big room but with a bit smaller balcony..not a problem really cause we wasnt on the balcony much anyway.

Drinks was brill...serve yourself all day and all night till 11pm...no problems there..also slushes on tap and ice cream.

Now then the entertainer Jamie who i thought had been there for ages was fantastic and kept us all entertained in the evening with him excellent quizes...to find out he had only been there for 2 weeks...UNREAL the confidence he has but i will beat you next time at killer pool..lol.

You will not be dissapointed if you stay here...weather is lovely/food and drinks...only the hills are our downfall xx

Room Tip: go for the highest floors...a lot cooler
