Like many others have said, we arrived to find our key in an envelope on the reception door and let ourselves into our room right away. Our room was on the same level as the reception (second to top). The rooms were spacious and very, very clean. I didn't see a single cockroach or mosquito the whole time i was there. We had housekeeping every other day including new towels and toilet rolls. There were twin beds which we pushed together and the kitchen was basic but had everything you would need. We hired the safe and a fan as there was no air-con for 25 euros each, but you get 10 euros each back at the end. Our balcony was spacious and had a table with 4 chairs and a maiden. The balcony was over looking the pool below and a view of Amadores beach. It's stunning!! The apartments themselves were situated half way up the mountain side. We would walk down to the beach in the mornings (as its down hill) which took about 20 minutes (with a stop of at the spar shop). We would get a taxi back up in the afternoon from Amadores beach which cost no more then 3 euros (4 in the evenings). If you go uphill when coming out of the apartments there is a complex no more then a 10 minute walk away, full of shops, restaurants and bars. If the walking is too much for you then wait a few minutes outside the apartment as taxi's drive past all the time. The reception shop had most of your basics but were a little more expensive. You can use the internet in the reception for 50 cent for 8 minutes. My only criticism would be the tv in the room is a pay as you go tv and the drain outside reception sometimes smelt and needed a clean.

We arrived at the hotel at 6pm and found our key in an envelope stuck the reception door. Reception was open so we checked in.
Our room number allocated was 003 which was pool level with a pool view. Having previously read the bad reviews about cockroaches on the lower floors we decided to upgrade to a superior room for 10 euros per night. This was money well spent as it was perfect for us with a huge balcony overlooking the pool and having a sea view.
The man at reception was very friendly and polite during our stay and so were the staff at the poolside snack bar.
The poolside snack bar served food such as hot dogs, burgers, chips and toasted sandwiches fro 11am til 7pm.
The pool was excellent and a nice temperature with no problem getting sunbeds during the day whatever the time.
The room was cleaned every day apart from Sunday. Maids were friendly.
We only used the shop at the hotel to get soft drinks when we needed them as we mainly used the large supermarket at the Europa centre at the top of the hill which was only a 5/10 minute walk.
We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant as we like to try other restaurants. Found a lovely restaurant at Amadores beach called "Zenubia's" where the food and service was amazing !!!
The owner at this restaurant offers you a deal if you don't like your meal you don't pay a cent. He also offers you a free drink after your meal.
A taxi to Amadores beach was 2.50 Euros.
A taxi to the commercial centre in Puerto Rico was 3.50 Euros.

Fantastic time had and would definately stay in this hotel again. If you are going try and book room 601.

We were at the appartments 3rd - 12th september. I read some of these reviews and it made me quite worried about this hotel so I rang to request a sea view room the man said its 10euros a night to upgrade. Which for me and my boyfriend was 90euros in total. He said he would put us in the room on the first night and we can pay the next morning! IT WAS WORTH THE EXTRA 10 EUROS FOR SURE!! When I walked past some rooms on the ground floor they looked horrible really badly decorated with t.vs you have to pay for and some had views of the pool toilets with no sunlight! :/ We were in room 607 on the 6th floor. The views were amazing, maids every day she would change the sheets, towels, wash up for us! It was great. We had a newly renovated room which was modern with a flat screen t.v, big shower etc. the balcony was big with a table with umbrella and 4 chairs and 2 sunbeds. The Only down side was there was no entertainment atall of a night.. So we had to go out or entertain ourselves. We spent most of our nights going to puerto Rico main shopping centre for something to eat.. The buffets are good. But if you walk just down past McDonald's you will find a restaurant, a bit pricey but has entertainment on every night.. Singers and shows on.. Was very good! We went on the dolphin trip 25euros each.. But worth it your out there for 2 and half hours and around 30 dolphins were swimming round the boat they were so close!! We also went on the submarine boat which was 14euros each.. Hmmm was not impressed we didn't see many amazing fish just the average ones a little bit boring. Any ways, I would recommend palmeramar Appartments for couples and people looking for a relaxed holiday. :)

My girlfriend and i stayed here for 2 weeks from the 28th of Aug. We arrived after nine at night and got our key that was left for us on the window at reception. We didn mind this at all as we expected this. We arrived to our room 408 to find that we had a nice spacious apt with a huge balcony balcony and to top it off we had an amazin view too. We were not too sure were to go to get something to eat so we decided to eat at the restaraunt. Out of ten i wud give it 8. The only thing we did not like was that half of the menu was not there to order but that was to be expected at half ten at nite. The staff their though were nice and obliging. The following morning we went to the shop at the apt to find sweet f..k all there so we had to walk to de europa centre which is literally a ten min walk from the apt. The pool was very nice relaxing only thing is people putting towels out and going back to bed. There is a jacuzzi by the pool but can be annoying at times as kids try to swim in there. The water was not deep in the big pool but was nice to cool down.
I would have to agree with some complaints about the cockroach infestation on the bottom floor although we had seen known by lookin into those apt you can understand that you can get cockroaches luckily enough we had the 4th floor. The cleaners were really bang on and not a bad word to be said about them, glad to see them enjoy themselves at work with a little pocket radio around their waiste. Our room was cleaned daily except thurs and sundays.
You can get a taxi to amadores beach from as little as 2.50€ and the same can be said for puerto rico shopping centre well around 3.50€. There is no entertainment at our apt which we really were happy with. You can enjoy all of that at the europa centre with lots of entertainment thorugh the early hours. If your into a mad session then its puerto rico sc to bora bora or harlys dancing. There are plenty of niuce restaraunts to choose from in europa centre. Stay away from little italy i didn enjoy the food but my gf did or the gran hong kong i was sick as a dg after the food such as el brasero and el toro and turbo too. puerto rico shopping centre
has some nice ones too called planet pizza was really nice. Down on amadores beach there is a really nice restaraunt called ciao beach really top quality food.
We did a booze cruise that we bought off a guy by our apt and tbh its a load a crap hardly any booze on it stay away from it! Overall the holiday was really enjoyable and will be back sometime again. Great apts 10/10

Room Tip: make sure to get a room with sea view avoid bottom floors

Stayed in the palmera Mar from 28th August - 6th Sept and found them very good. Like others I had read some previous reviews some good 1 or 2 not so good, but from my experience I found them very reasonable for what we wanted. We were on the fifth floor and was very pleased with our apt , the view from our balcony alone was a treat in itself. The sun comes up from 11.30 ish and you can still come back and sit out with you drinks till 8.15 when the sun goes down. There is no entertainment in our apt but we knew that before we went, so not a problem for us. Up the road there' the Europa centre plenty of lovely restaurants and bars there to keep going . The main centre is a taxi trip down about 3.50 a trip each way , that's were all the main entertainment is till the early hours . The amordoras beach is a good 10 min walk downhill but worth it . 2.50 in taxi back to your apt. The apt are cleaned every day staff very friendly . I would recommend there apt if you want to be on the outside looking in . Don't think they would be suitable for small families because of lack or entrainment . Overall very happy

Room Tip: All rooms 5th and 6 th floor

We were charged 70 euros straight away just to change rooms from ground floor to 1st floor as we wanted a little privacy. We hired a fan for 15 euros but it was still oven hot. The cleaners were very load. We had to pay for the TV. The bed were rock hard. The staff were friendly but not very helpful. We also had to pay 20 euros to leave an hour later than check-out. We will not be going there again. It was a fair 20 min walk to and from the beach. Taxi's were from 2.25 to 4 euros. Europa center wasn't great. The entertainment was pretty poor as were most the bars. We enjoyed a pub quiz at stadium pub but apart from that it wasn't great. We wont be going back again.

After staying in palmera mar last year and having a really nice time we requested to stay in a sea view balcony room again. On arrival there was noone at reception just a key stuck to the door with our name on. The room was at the back of the hotel with a view of the toilets and a view of the roads. Luckily the receptionist was still around and we requested to be moved as this room had no balcony and no view like we asked for. We were made to pay 70 euros to move to a room just as horrid with a view of just the pool and not the sea. We were attended to in a rude manner and told well you were just lucky you got a room last time. When booking to stay here this is no option to pay for a seaview room so its just a scam to get people to pay once they get there. The room was like a sauna and we had to pay £25 for a useless fan.

In the new room we had a cockroach infestation and was given a can of spray to sort it out ourselves which didnt work. We were so sickened we ended up staying out most of the night looking at prices of other hotels to stay in. There were cockroaches everywhere and the staff didnt seem to be bothered by this. The night before check out we ate in the hotel resturant and the food was disgusting we couldnt even eat it and were then told off by the waiter for wasting food which we were going to pay for anyway.

We checked out at 8am even though checkout wasnt until 12 as were so sickened by the cockroaches to see a man trying to spray the room before the new arrivals got to it. When leaving we saw the new arrivals to our room complaining about cockroaches so they obviously hadnt sorted it before sticking some other person in there.

Hotel used to be ok but is now horrendous and needs to be downgraded to zero star. Will go to gran canaria again but NEVER EVER go to this hotel. DO NOT USE pay the little extra for a good experience.
