“Fabulous holiday..... exactly what we were looking for!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2010

My boyfriend and I (we are in our twenties) stayed at the Morasol Suites in September 2010 on a self catering basis for seven nights. We booked with Thomas Cook.

After a brilliant flight and a short transfer, we arrived at the Morasol, which is located right next to the harbour in puerto rico and about a ten minute walk from the beach. On arrival, it is clear how immaculately clean and modern the complex is. The reception is airy, comfortable and luxurious with comfortable sofas, large bar area and internet facilities. The staff cant do enough to help you, they are English speaking and checked us into our room quickly and efficiently.

We has upgraded our room to a junior suite, which had gorgeous views of the harbour, hotel pool and lovely sunsets. The room was spacious, modern and impeccably clean. Air conditioning, TV, and all kitchen equiptment (fridge, toaster, juicer, coffee maker!) were included and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of storage space with a safety dep. box available to hire. I think this was 16euros for the week. The bathroom is lovely with marble suite and toiletries and fresh towels replaced daily.

The swimming pool area is lovely. Clean, plenty of sunbeds and gets good sun. You can request towels to use around the pool aswel. Nice pool bar for drinks and snacks during the day. We preferred the rooftop sun terrace which has cushioned sun loungers and a gorgeous jacuzzi looking onto the harbour. There is also a canopied area for beauty treatments/massage etc. Although i didnt have any treatments myself, it looked very professional and reasonably priced.

The hotel seemed quite quiet when we stayed there so we only sat in the bar a couple of times and used the hotel restaurant on our last night as we were self catering. The cocktails are fabulous and they do really good coffee in the morningl! The half board option is excellent value. The choice is basic but enjoyable. They did however have a more extensive and luxurious a la carte menu but we didnt have time to try this. The staff are so frIendly and helpful and the restaurant is really nicely furnished

In the area surrounding the Morasol suites, everything is within short walking distance of about 10-15mins. Shops, cafes, restaurants and a lovely clean beach. Our absolute favourite restaurant was Don Quiquote (this may be spelt incorrectly!), near the harbour. the food and service were amazing. We thouroughly enjoyed it. Lovely atmosphere and not unreasonably priced. Costs a little more than some places but well worth it. It was closed on Sunday though.

The commercial centre is about 20 mins walk, but you can get a 5min taxi ride for less than 5 euros. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants. Our favourite bar was Harleys, which is upstairs. Fab atmosphere, great bar staff and entertainment. Drinks reasonaly priced, and usually buy one get one free!!

Puerto rico is slightely quieter, so i probably wouldnt recommend for young groups of friends, but great for couples and families. We had an amazing time. It was really relaxing and just what we needed for a break. It was our first holiday together and we really couldnt fault it. The jacuzzi on the sun terrace was a really nice touch and the staff in the hotel cant do enough to help.

Would definately recommend the Morasol and will certainly visit again! If you're in any doubt, i would advise to just book it! You wont be disappointed!!

I booked this hotel as the reviews on this site were so positive. It certainly lived up to my high expectations. The Mrasol is a modern, chic hotel with great swimming pool, restaurant and bar. Internet is free in the lobby. The half board menu was varied and of a good quality. Breakfast is a buffet and the range and quality is high- homemade bread, croissants, cakes. Cooked breakfast etc etc. We had a one bed apartment which was well equipped and cleaned to an outstanding standard every day. Just beware the touts outside the Spar with their winning gold star tickets. They work for a holiday club called Voyager. Look up the comments about them on the Internet. Having originally booked Parque bungalows, I changed my booking following the poor reviews on this site. Other travellers on our flight confirmed that Parque is the pits.

everything about this holiday was perfect, what more can i say. the apartment was clean, spacious and had everything we needed, the welcome letter was a lovely friendly touch. the staff, food, cocktails service and even the maids were friendly and more than expected. the area is picturesque, quiet but not too far away from anywhere. the locals are so lovely, they even say good morning!... the beaches are clean and the sea it turquoise, warm and calm and the sun is plentyful and hot.. eating out is reasonable and the food always tastes devine... we really didnt want to come home to the snow... we are planning to go back may2001. can not wait. it was a dream....

I choose this hotel because of the excellant reviews on this site and although its not cheap, i wasnt sorry.cant fault the accomadation or location at all.....we had a poolside apartment so once we walked out the door, the pool was at our feet. nice little patio at the front door with two chairs and table as well.apartments are very spacious-had all one could wish for, including a coffee machine and juicer....sitting area and kitchen are nicely spread out over two levels. the bedroom was very spacious too. the apartment was cleaned daily and was completely spotless.very nice furnishings and everythings so well maintained.stayed on a b & b basis-breakfast was very nice in the morning...nice fry, cerals, pastries, juices and fruit...everything you could want.staff were excellant...really paid attention to guests, even the pool guy.Pool side very well kept too.Location is beside a road, but its only really used for access to the hotel, so you wont even notice it.also had stunning views over the marina and never a problem to get a seat by the pool. only downside......there seemed to be a lot of local residents using the pool too, with their noisy kids...but as i single person, im probably the only person who actually noticed that. and finally, as for puerto rico-if you have to go, stay at the morosol.....really didnt like the resort....too many neon lights further in from the marina where most of the other apartments are.....however the marina and most of the restaurants around it are lovely....weathers fab and there are lots of nice boats trips to other towns like Mogan that are worth doing....wasnt the worst holiday ever, but not an area i think ill be revisiting.

It was the first time we had been to Gran Canaria and only booked this hotel after reading reviews on trip advisor. We travelled during October half term. We had a late arrival into Gran Canaria and did not arrive to the hotel until midnight after all the drop offs, when we checked in the reception staff told us that they had placed some cold platters into our fridge and a bottle of water, what an arrival. We booked on a half board basis with a junior suite, the additional bed (for our son) was a sofa bed and it was the most comfortable sofa bed I had slept on in a foreign country, (our son alternated between the bed and sofa bed). The staff were all incredible friendly and could not do enough for you. The breakfasts had a wide variety of choice and was always being replenished from the kitchen, we never had cold food! We also ate in the hotel restaurant every night, the standard is incredibly high, whether it be the a la carte menu, kids menu or the half board menu. There is a very short walk to the beach, which gave you time to work off the breakfast. We spent our time between the beach and the hotel pool, which was lovely and clean and the staff were always around keeping it clean and maintaining it, enough sunbeds and umbrellas for everyone (not sure how it would be in the height of summer though).

We will definately be making a return trip to this hotel.

This hotel is up there with the best I have ever stayed in. The resort itself was lovely. All amenities well within walking distance. The Town centre being a short drive away (taxi cost just under 3 euros) but you really dont need to venture there as there are plenty of nice restaurants close by. I would strongly recommend the Indian restaurant just a couple of minutes walk away, cant remember what its called but its the first one you come to!!
The hotel restaurant was also to a high standard, with all the staff extreemly helpful and friendly. Only thing I would fault it on was the cooked breakfast items were almost cold, the variety was vast but unfortunately we only had breakfast once because of this.
The sun deck on the roof was definately my favourite place....so peacefull...with the jacuzzi to jump in when you get too hot sunbathing on the really comfy sunloungers!!
I could go on and on about this fantastic hotel and resort but I won't. All I will say is, as soon as I was home, I wanted to book to go again!
Will definately be returning, LOVED IT!!

Just back from a quick trip to Morasol Suites and would highly recommend the hotel- its an easy 10 minute walk to the beach and town centre, but best of all, its only 2-4 storeys so it doesn't feel like a typical resport hotel in the area. Puerto Rico is more built up than we expected but this hotel is the nicest around, with lovely staff and the pool and grounds are maintained very well. The staff were very friendy too and the rooms are all quite large and modern. It overlooks the marina which wasn't too busy (november) and as there is no through-traffic driving past the hotel as its in the port, its an ideal quieter break, just the right distance from the town. We would stay again!
