“Fab holiday at morasol suites”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Spent a fabulous week at these appartments commencing 6th October.Weather and accommodation excellent. They are maintained to a high standard and the reception staff are very helpfull and speak excellent English. We were allocated a room on the first floor by the pool bar and while we had a good view of the marina they were not very private when people were sitting at the tables! Hence a quick dash from bathroom to bedroom!! Next time we will request a room on a higher floor preferably the 3rd where the marina views are fantastic. There also a great sunbathing terrace there too-----plenty of sunbeds, thick mattress's and a fab jacuzzi!! On the restaurant front, you are spoiled for choice. To the left of the appartments and through the tunnels is Las Olas shopping centre where you will find a good Hyperdino supermarket and excelent restaurants. Our favourite was El Guanche( we went twice!)Family owned and very friendly with great food but all the others have good reviews too so next time will try to get round them all! Oscars ( opposite the beach) is well recommended----beautiful food and always busy which tells you everything. We tried one of the beach restaurants with a tapas for two----cheap and awful---don't bother! For authentic tapas go to the Balcon Canaria in the big shopping centre----all the Spanish go there. All in all a great holiday at the Morasol-----we'll be back!!

Room Tip: Higher rooms for best views of the marina .

Myself and my daughter visit Puerto Rico each Autumn for one weeks holiday.

Previously we have stayed in the El Greco Suites,(brilliant!!)

The Gloria Palace Amadores, also lovely, and

the Marina Suites. |(huge apartments!!)

This year on the advice of friends we opted for the Morasol Suites.

While the room was very much smaller than the Marina and the El Greco Suites, or the Gloria Palace, we just thought the service and attention to detail 'guest wise' was brilliant.

So much so that we have decided to return to the Morasol next year without even checking out our previous 'favourites'!!

Room Tip: Choose a room on second floor....nobody above you!!!

Having read a number of the previous reviews for the Morasol Suites, I was expecting a really good holiday and wasn’t disappointed. It may not be the top hotel on Gran Canaria but you cannot fault the hotel, it was clean, well maintained and all the staff were excellent – they were professional, helpful and extremely friendly.

The hotel is in an excellent location overlooking the marina and away from the centre of Puerto Rico (which we weren’t impressed with). There are a number of decent restaurants and bars around the marina & beach area so there was no need to go into the town centre. Also if you walk through the tunnel by the hotel there are more restaurants and a supermarket

When we arrived, there were no rooms with a marina view so we were given a nice room unfortunately it had no balcony and looked out onto a cliff face. However, the reception staff made sure we got moved to a new room a couple of days later and compensated us for being unable to provide the right room when we arrived. There is some noise from the main road behind but it wasn’t an issue except when some of the lorries went past.

The sun terrace on the 3rd floor gets the sun earliest in the day and has really comfortable loungers. Unfortunately, there are no toilets or bar up there. The pool and surround was extremely clean but the water was on the chilly side

The let down was the food. The restaurant was busy every morning for breakfast which wasn’t too bad - plenty of choice but the quality wasn’t always the best.

In the evening if you were half or full board you get a very limited menu to choose from. The choices were bland and boring and it showed as there were only about 10 people a night in there. Even though I’d paid for half board, we had to eat out a couple of times just for something better. The exception was the Friday night barbeque which was open to all hotel guests and was extremely good value.

Even if you want a lazy holiday, you should get the ferry to Puerto de Mogàn (Friday is market day) and if you like tapas, visit La Tabona restaurant. You can walk to the top of the hill behind the Marina Bayview for a great view over Puerto Rico – it isn’t as hard as it first looks!

I would go back again and can thoroughly recommend the Morasol Suites because of the standard of service and cleanliness as well as it’s location but I would suggest you go either self catering or bed & breakfast (but book the barbeque).

This is a wonderful hotel, ideal location overlooking the harbour and reasonably quiet. Stayed in room 231, everything you could need is there, hob, microwave, kettle, sink, air con (no charge) etc.., Sun on the balcony until into the evening. Very clean pool area although most days we wandered upto the 3rd floor sun terrace with large jacuzzi and more comfortable sun beds. Had some concerns re sun beds being claimed but there was never an issue and always plenty of beds available. Didn't use the restaurant though it all looked very clean, bar staff very helpful and friendly. Day trip to Mogan (go on the boats not the bus) 10euros each return and well worth the visit, market day on a Friday but very busy so if just a sightseeing trip would recommend a different day.
Excellent restaurants nearby the hotel, highly recommend going under the tunnel and eating at Toro Bravo, there is a local supermarket there also where you can buy everything you need. Tap Water is not suitable for drinking but is very cheap to buy in large bottles.
There is a safe deposit box in your room which is 20euros for the week.
All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel, in fact just booked it again for next September and can't wait.

We liked the location, very near the beach, diveschool and shopping centers. Room was very nice but bit noisy. Very friendly staf. Sufficient equipment in the kitching. We had a room in the top of the building and had a very nice view over the harbor.

Room Tip: In the hihger stock, very nice view over the harbor

What a lovely spotless hotel. Great location and excellent staff - nothing was too much trouble. Roof terrace nice touch. Room was larger than expected and all rooms get the sun in the afternoon on the balcony. Had chateaubriand in the restaurant one evening and this was probably the nicest chateaubriand we have eaten and was cheaper than the local restaurants. My only negative comment would be that free wifi should be available in your room and not just at reception. Would stay here again and would recommend it.

This is the best hotel I have stayed in. I arrived at this hotel with my boyfriend for our first holiday away together (we are a young couple who was on a tight budget) we choose this area due to the weather for late September for 1 week and it is was a last minuet deal. when we arrived we couldn't believe our luck due to our lack of research. The hotel looked amazing from the outside when we arrived in the night. The hotel staff were always happy help and wanted to make sure your stay was perfect. Our room was a Junior Suite which looked out onto the Marina and steps down to the pool which was always clean and tidy!! Inside our room was spotless with a daily clean.

The area within Puerto Rico was gorgeous with mountains behind you and the sea in front of you. From the hotel you can walk to the beach in 5 mins, where there are restaurants and in the evening the more quite part of the area. If you want more choice, some shopping and maybe go to a bar then the commercial center is only a nice 15 mins stroll from the hotel which we enjoyed walking in the evening warmth.

We took the Ferry over to Port de Morgan on Friday (market day) which was 10 euros each for a return. it was a lovely day out and nice to see another part of the island. It was a beautiful town with shops, cafes, restaurants and a lovely beach. We also went on a Dolphin and Whale watch which last for 3 hours (50 euros for both of us) with Spirit of the Sea. This was an enjoyable experience which I am glad we payed for as we got so close to the dolphins I could have touched one!!

I would recommend this hotel along with Puerto Rico itself. It is reasonable money with out you feeling ripped off, where the people are nice and you can have a nice time no matter your age.

VERY IMPRESSED!!
