“Great Break just before Christmas”
Reviewed December 19, 2007

I booked this hotel as part of a package holiday through Thomsons seeing that it was voted #1 of 314 or so hotels in the Canary Islands on Tripadvisor.I wasn't disappointed !
I also spoke to another person there who had done exactly likewise and he said how good it was aswell.
The reception staff are very courteous, speak good English and very efficient. The room was pleasant with good size living area,a modern kitchen with 2 ring hob, a microwave , fridge. the bedroom had fitted wardrobes and various other drawers ,bedside tables etc.Worth the 4 star rating in my opinion.
I do have to mention aswell that the Maid service were spot on and did work really hard.I woke up one morning around 7a.m to see the maids outside polishing the stainless steel bars around the balconies ,they were still around at 6 p.m and they tidied the rooms immaculately and never appeared to stop.
A well kept swimming pool right outside our balcony but in the front of the hotel. The hotel is surrounded at the front by a small wall but is fronted by a car park and the harbour. It is probably the closest hotel to the harbour and flat ground to wherever you want to visit from there. Many other hotels you had to climb the hills.
We never tried the Meals in the restuarant but all looked clean and tidy.
An excellent choice for anyone booking this hotel !

Very nice hotel. On plus side great location in the almost closed port area with limited traffick. Unlike most of the hotels in Puerto Rico it is not located on the mountains so easy access for the ones traveling with kids. Very pleasant hotel service, the staff is extremely helpful. General outlook of the hotel and pool area is also nice.

The apartment room (junior suite) is very spacious, bathroom was big and nice with a bath.

Some minuses - breakfast selection should be much better. Also the pool was not heated during our stay but we understand that is the problem with most of the hotels in the region. The walls could hold a bit more sound. But these are really small minuses, we left very satisfied and would return back to the hotel.

We stayed at the Morasol Suites for a week in September. On arrival the reception staff were very friendly which was a great start to the holiday. The hotel room was beautiful and the view was even better! The apartment had everything you would need for your stay plus more. The maid service was great, they came everyday and changed the linen 3 times a week!

The great thing about Puerto Rico is the sun doesn't come out till about 10am and doesn't go down till about 8pm. We had no problem getting a sun lounger even at the peak time but like anywhere you still get the idiots who get up crack of dawn to put there towels down - no need for this!!

I would recommend the hotel to anyone of any age....it's all on a flat surface, so no walking up steep hills! The commercial centre was great, plenty of places to eat and drink! I was a bit worried about visiting the commercial centre as some of the reviews I had read said it was like "blackpool with sun"....maybe July and August but definetly not September. September is a great time to go if you just want to chill out, if you want a wild holiday with the girls/boys then go in July and August.

If you are in to football and other sports then go to the Tropical bar in the commercial centre, had every single game on. You could even put bets on in there and it is really cheap. The local lager (Tropicana) was €1.50! Harleys bar is very expensive so be warned...you will try to get dragged in there by the PR's!

The weather was lovely as well, about 30degrees every single day!

Don't listen to anyone who moans about this hotel, it's great. It's out of the way of the nightlife but a 15 minute walk to the commercial centre...we loved every minute of it and would definetly return!

If you want anymore information, please feel free to email me.

We have just returned from a week’s holiday at the Morasol Suites, Puerto Rico. I must say that I have to agree with most of the people who gave it rave reviews on your site.

The apartments were beautifully clean, with the maid in everyday, and linen changed 3 times a week. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need and more, including; kettle, toaster, microwave, blender, cups, cutlery etc…

The reception staff was very friendly and helpful, especially when we enquired about trips and places to visit.

The view of the marina and beyond from our room was quite breathtaking and the best thing about the location of the Morasol, was that you did not have to trek up any hills to get to it. You will be amazed at where some of the resorts hotels and buildings are situated as they are built right up the side of steep cliffs. There are a couple of supermarkets near by so you can buy your provisions easily.

The pool area is immaculate and there are signs up telling people they cannot keep sunbeds, however, some chose to ignore this request. Saying this, I did not have any problems getting one and another bonus is that you can use the hotel towels down at the pool.

Not the hotels fault, but be prepared in case you have to put up with the odd loud mouthed child waving large inflatable around while their parents looking on – as we did. I suppose it’s the luck of the draw as to who is staying in the hotel at the time.

We had a couple of nice snacks at the hotel restaurant during the day, but at night we generally ventured a bit further afield for meals. We were disappointed with a couple of them but unfortunately, I suppose this is a chance you take when visiting pastures new. I can recommend the bars and restaurants further along, past the beach area. There was a nice Chinese and a cracking Greek place, where I tasted the best Greek salad ever. The Café Sol is a nice little bar, ran by a lovely British Couple, who do nice food also. We enjoyed a cocktail bar near us called Wig Wams, which had a nice atmosphere and lovely cocktails.

As we were only there for one week our sightseeing was a bit limited. We visited Sioux City (a film set for a very old western) – it was good value for money and gave us a laugh. We also went to Puerto Mogan on the ferry – which cost 10 Euros return. If you go on Friday then its market day, so you can pick up a bargain, as it’s quite large.

One thing to watch out for is time-share reps. Apparently they are building this complex in a part of Puerto Rico, which they call Anfi . These reps will say anything to get you to go and visit including offering you free tickets to get into various attractions and bottles of wine etc. Don’t be fooled – they will tell you its not time-share but it is. The reps are on commission and are paid relating to how many people sign up to go. So beware – unless you want a time-share, that is.

We had to check out of our room at 12:00pm on the day of departure, and were willing to pay the extra to keep it on. Unfortunately, the hotel was fully booked, so we were allowed the courtesy room. This was a proper hotel room and not some communal shower room – so it was excellent and saved us a few Euros into the bargain.

Puerto Rico has something for everyone and we will definitely be returning to these apartments in the future, as they are one of the resorts best kept secrets.

We returned last week after an enjoyable holiday at the morosal suites. We were originally booked into the Marina suites however we arrived and they sent us off to morasol having overbooked due to a computer error. We were given reasonable compensation and still used the marina suites pool area but stayed at morasol. The room was lovely, spacious and incredibly clean. We had more than plentiful kitchen appliances...toaster, microwave, coffee maker, blender, juicer and a hob with several pans. There was a nice lounge area and a balcony overlooking the pool and marina. The reception staff were particularly amazing and would do anything to help it was a refreshing change after being messed around by marina suites. The hotel bar was nice and not too expensive. (Our trips into the marina suites were less friendly as they are so keen on maintaining the hotel image and most reception staff dont understand customer service. The pool bar was over twice the price of morasol and the staff were rude!)
Never any problem getting a sunbed at either hotel however it is really annoying at marina how the best beds are always reserved and never used. the sun doesn't really reach morasol till at least 11am and it is quite near the road although we much preferred being less cramped there and the pool was very nice.
In Puerto rico we particularly loved caballito de mar which is a gorgeous restaurant which does a particularly nice chocolate mouse and some great fish dishes. Oscars is also nice however perhaps the one near caballito is nicer than the one upstairs further along the road (they belong to the same people). Red rose is lovely too we had the lobster there...very impressive. El greco was also good. Dont go the chinese under the tunnels to the right of the hotal....average and strange! las carcolas does nice paella and sangria.
Didn't like the camel ride place it looked cruel. I was waiting for the toilet and saw them beating a camel and got shouted at in spanish for watching. didn't try it so cant comment on the ride. Mogan is gorgeous, we went on the boat, the restaurants near the harbour are very nice. We went the opposite way on the boat to arguinegiun but there really is nothing there. Went on magic vision to see dolphins but didn't see any however had a nice trip out. didn't really like playa del ingles but the beach was pretty.
Overall we'd def choose morasol suites over marina suites if we were to go back!

Just back from the Morasul Suites. I booked this hotel based on the reviews on tripadvisor, and as usual I wasn't disappointed. I would agree with everything positive that has been previously said, though we did encounter a problem, it wouldn't put me off going back again. The problem may have been particular to us as we are anti-smokers, and the first room we were allocated had an unbearable stench of cigarette smoke., (which lingered for the 2days we were in it, despite airing and spraying by hotel staff.) When we complained at reception we were told that smoking is prohibited in all rooms and they were fitted with smoke alarms. This obviously didn't stop the previous occupants! Anyway we had to wait 2days to be moved as the hotel was fully booked. Once we settled into our new room everything was fine. The accommodation is above average, very tastefully decorated, the facilities are great and the staff are courteous and helpfull. My husband did complain of the bed being a little too hard though it wouldn't put us off going back. Overall a very good place to stay in Pueto Rico, and would recommend it to family and friends. Just a word on eating out, we ate out everynight for the week we were there and found that everywhere was much the same. For dinner and a good nights entertainment try La Bolera, situated at the edge of the park, just before you reach the commercial centre. We took a taxi to the Europa Centre and had dinner in the Amadeus restaurant which was very good. Had breakfast in Yogis as one other reviewer suggested and found it to be good enough, but if you don't want your english breakfast to be swimming in canned tomato juice, then order it without the tomato. (I don't understand why they use tinned tomatoes when the fresh ones are cheap, freely available and the nicest you can get anywhere in the world!) If you are heading off to the Morasul Suites in Puerto Rico you can look forward to a quiet and relaxing time.

  • Liked — Its location and the peacefulness by the pool, no intrusive music made it very relaxing.
  • Disliked — The rooms should be divided into smoking and non-smoking and allocated as such.
