We love the Riu brand and this hotel did not disappoint. I stayed for a week with my daughter before she went back to Uni. The first impressions of the hotel were very good. We arrived late on in the evening but still managed to get a lovely meal. Food was still being prepared which good to see. We checked in to our room and were a little disappointed at the view sadly as my daughter had wanted a sea view. Even though they all have a view the ground floor is not as good as the floors higher up. After a chat with reception they moved us when the next available room was free. Daniel on reception was excellent in sourcing a great room for us ! 469 with a superb view of the sea and Amadores beach. His kindness and chatty nature really made our holiday that little bit more special. I hope u can pass our thanks on to him. We even booked a boat trip to Mogán through him and before we left we went to thank him. He shook our hands and said he looked forward to seeing us again sometime soon. The rooms were also very good, spacious ,comfortable and very clean. We loved the fact that the hotel had different levels. It never felt crowded and this is one of the only hotels I’ve visited that you don’t have to set your alarm at the crack of dawn to reserve a sun bed as no matter what time of the day you arrived you could always get one. The restaurants were fab. We loved the Amadores restaurant and also the Asian one which we tried once. I found the sea breeze a little soulless but it was sufficient for during the day and my daughter loved the toasties in the afternoon. All bar staff and restaurant staff were very pleasant and always acknowledged us. This was our first visit and certainly won’t be our last. I hope to visit soon with my husband but notice that TUI have no flights planned for next year to Gran Canaria so we will have to research another company. Thanks to all at Riu Vistamar for a lovely week. We wish we had been staying longer! Keep up the good work!

Went to this hotel as been 15 years ago and had seen that it had been refurbished a lot had changed but not for the better the food standards had dropped and some of the staff are rude ie bodie in the sports bar will not be going back as there are better hotels on this island this at best is a 3 star hotel not to the usual RIU standard

Dear Tony,

Thank you for taking your valuable time to share your impressions. We are grateful for your loyalty to our brand and consistent support of our hotel.

We truly lament to read that our gastronomy offers and the service provided by our team did not live up to your expectations and that we were not able to provide you the vacation you were looking for. As a repeating client you may know that the above-mentioned concerns are not representative of our usual service and that we will share your concerns with our Management Team to continue improving day after day. Certainly, this is not the type of experience we would like our guests to have.

We hope to host you again in one of our worldwide hotels to provide you a much greater experience in which we’ll provide our quality standards!

Greetings,

Hotel Riu Vistamar

Couldn't fault this hotel at all. Impressive views all round, especially from the sports bar. Food excellent at all meals, good choices of food, well cooked & always hot. Didn't do any ala carte as we felt it was not necessary. Drinks aplenty & good quality liked the self service at the pools. Entertainment passable some shows good & others a bit naff. The room we had was very good, probably one of the best views ever. There's a free bus down to the beach it ran every 1/2 hour except for a short break in the afternoon. There's one problem that didn't affect us because we had no children but anybody with a child still in its pram be aware that there are 3 lots of steps to climb to get to the kiddies pool which in effect is on the 12 floor, 9th floor sports bar & gym, 10 & 11 floor swimming pools & 12 floor kiddies pool.

Stayed here for a week fully inclusive in September 2019. The food was excellent with many choices every single day. Obviously repetitive but there are days when the hotel does special cuisine events that you book for and men are required to wear long trousers for these.

The staff are extremely helpful at both meal times and generally. The rooms are cleaned every day with free water provided. The pool areas are clean and with bars.

Entertainment is what you would expect at a large holiday hotel but the staff work hard to ensure you have a good time.

All in all I cannot fault this hotel although I have heard say that the children’s pool isn’t the easiest to get to being on the top floor which is actually at road level. The hotel is built on the side of a cliff/mountain so the entrance is on the 8th with rooms below on the other floors. There is an hourly bus down to a clean beach with many bars and cafes.

Great hotel and would certainly visit again. Well done RIU.

Room tip: Believe all have sea views. Look to have a room from 3rd floor upwards to avoid sight of the cliff side.

So, currently sat by the upper level pool on out last day of our holiday. What can I say...

Apart from - what a fantastic week we’ve had at Riu Vistamar, Puerto Rico.

The weather has been superb along with the accommodation in all areas: Food, Staff, Location, Amenities. Nice selection of food each day at lunch, snacks, dinner. And range of drinks is great, ask the barman for your drink and no problem. Pour your own beer was very handy. All staff are friendly and do all they can to make your stay an enjoyable and memorable one! Special mention to Michael at reception and poker game arranger (sorry don’t know your name, but had a great game - Ian from UK).

The room we had was superb with a great sea view as far as you can see. The cleaning ladies so efficient with room cleaning and maintaining each day.

The special restaurants do require guys to wear long trousers which is standard. No fee for Wi-fi (all over hotel) safe use or air conditioning. Free coach each day to and from beach of Amadores which has some nice shops and eatery’s if needed. Also, from Amadores you can make the 20min walk along the coast to Puerto Rico - nice little harbour town.

Great excursions to go and do if you fancy it. Recommend the 4x4 safari trip, Zoo at Tenerife or the Palmitos Park in Gran Canaria. If you go - definitely check out the dolphin shows at both zoos and the whale show at the Tenerife zoo.

Overall, this is our second visit to Amadores, and this hotel is perfect to see all and to take in the spectacular sea views or the sunset from the Sports bar or as you eat your dinner from the main restaurant.

Thank you to everyone at Riu Vistamar, Puerto Rico for a great holiday & we will be back!!
be back!
