We have stayed in 2 Riu hotels and have to say they do not disappoint in any way! As soon as you see the RiuVistamar from a distance you can't help but be impressed!! In my opinion the best on the resort! This is a lovely hotel ! I really can not fault it in any way. The views from the veranda overlooking Tenerife are sunning and equally stunning are the views from the bedrooms over the beautiful Amadores Beach! The food was plentiful and great quality !! There is plenty to keep the kids amused and equally for the more motivated adults who want to join in with morning exercise classes to counteract the excessive calorie consumption! The animation team worked very hard to keep everyone entertained! One of the jewels in the crown is the pool area!

I really can't fault this hotel!

We have just returned from a 7 day holiday. The hotel was great with sea views from every room. Staff were always cheerful, helpful and courteous. The food was excellent with something for everyone and the bar had good local (and some international) drinks. Room was clean and bathroom worked well, if a little dated. The hotel is on a steep hill (hence the good views) so if you have mobility problems you need to rely on the lifts (which run on holiday time) but there is access to all areas except the upper pool by lift. There is a free bus up and down the hill to the beach in the day and a pleasant promenard into Peurto Rico. We went for a rest and so found the isolated nature of the hotel OK but there is the Europa centre 800m away. If we had to moan it was that the pools are cold - too cold for two of us to swim but I swam daily. Also the wifi was not free and unreliable. Mobile reception was also variable but OK on the side of the hotel nearest the mast. However, these were minor niggles and I would stay again.

We stayed at the Riu Vistamar for 10 nights. Hotel and pools were lovely, staff excellent as in all Riu hotels. Food was good but not as good as other Riu Hotels we have stayed in. Standards of Riu staff are always second to none. Hotel is on a hillside so not great if you have mobility problems, there are also lots of steps in the hotel and lifts are painfully slow, be warned! Air con in rooms wasn't great. Went into Puerto Rico for an evening, it was awful, lots of tacky shops and drunken people. All in all a great relaxing holiday with usual Riu high standards but really didn't like Gran Canaria.

We wanted a break from the cold winter with sun and beach and that's what we got. We are very happy with our holiday, but probably will not come back anyway. In Amadores is not much to do or see. The only thing we did not like was that the hotel did not offer free wi-fi.

It worked great to sleep 2 adults and 2 children in a familyroom. It was clean, paper, towels and schampoo were brought every day. The room was good, the bathroom was outdated.
All family rooms are located on floors 1 and 2 (bottom) RIU's idea must be to gather all families in the same story, but I think it is a quite bad idea. With children aged 9 and 12 you don't fit in with the kids /baby screams and the walls are very thin.

We think that the supply of food was good. Unfortunately, our girl got ill because of the food on our last day at the poolbar as she ate a hot dog that probably had been lying there for too long.
One evening we tried the BBQ. Almost the same food as in the mainrestaurant, but particularly we got extra good service, ambient music, and so the fantastic view too.

The kids thought it was cold in the pool. We appreciated that you could take the hotel shuttle bus to the beach. (taxi costs € 2.70 and that's also almost free)

Landed at 2:20am this morning and already booked again for July. Just wanted to start off by saying that it was the best hotel I have stayed in for a long time. On arrival the staff were friendly & helpful, sent us straight for dinner. We were allocated a dinner reservation at 6:30pm for each evening as this was the time we wanted & this meant we had our table for the week. All the hot food, had the show cooking. No food was ever left lying for a length of time. I could not fault the food for anytime throughout the day. For breakfast & lunch you could sit where you wish.

My daughter enjoyed the kids club. This was my one thing I was worried about as I had always been to First Choice/Thomson & like there strict sign in/out service. This was the one thing riu did not do. But this was not an issue at all. The staff were so good with the children & got to know the staff so well that I knew my daughter was in safe hands. Then in the evening they had mini disco & this was the one thing my daughter would not miss. Dancing & singing with the children, now my daughter can sing a song in Spanish! :-) the rooms were cleaned on a daily basis & no matter where you are in the hotel has spectacular views of the ocean.

ANYBODY to moan about this hotel needs to seriously get a grip!!! Yes it's not a 5star hotel but it does not say that it is so don't expect it! I would rate this hotel in my eyes 5star. Staff, food & the hotel are amazing. If a bit of wallpaper is out of place, big wows!!! its not effecting my holiday, if the food is a tad cold then the chefs are there, ask it to be a bit hotter, there not magicians to keep it hot just for us picking it!!!

It is a mixed nationally hotel & caters for everyone. It angers me to think anyone could be put off this hotel because of any little moans. DO NOT LISTEN. I have travelled around the world & this hotels staff are truly the nicest I have experienced.

We have been to many riu hotels and this was just as good from reception staff to waiters everyone very pleasant and nothing is too much trouble .
Yes it is very busy but there are two sittings for evening meals and if you go in just after the time it helps with the rush
Not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties as there are stairs down to restaurant and up to the swimming pool
Entertainment team work very hard , lots of children on our second week as it is Easter would definitely recommend it .

Room Tip: Rooms are better on high floors we were in 417 no afternoon sunshine

Stayed from 31st January for one week with my husband. We arrived to a lovely reception from the staff. I had emailed requesting 4th floor and first sitting at dinner which I got.
The room was nice with a beautiful view out to sea and the beach. We thought the food was great with lots of choices. Had a themed dinner one night which was really nice and a little more personal.
Free towels, Free water and safe I have always had to pay for these at other hotels.
We went on a ferry trip from Puerto Rico to Mogan which was lovely. We bought the tickets at the hotel but when we got to Puerto Rico we had quite a walk to the allocated Ferry. If we had got the tickets there the Ferry's were much nearer.
The coastal walk into Puerto Rico is nice and approx 2 miles.
The weather was fab only one cloudy morning. We really enjoyed our stay and will be returning next year. No complaints at all.

Room Tip: Email ahead any requests. No kettle in the rooms we took are own.
