Arrived in the early hours and welcomed with food and drinks before going to our room which had a magnificent view overlooking the sea, room 532, plenty of wardrobes and drawers, comfortable bed, balcony with table and chairs and a pull out clothes dryer, bathroom with shower, bath, toilet and bidet, power point and large mirror. The view of the sunrise was spectacular every morning, the friendly maids cleaned our room to a high standard every day. We were all inclusive and were not disappointed by our choice, the display and choice of food was fantastic and snacks were available by the pool if you didn't feel like going to the restaurant for lunch. Every drink imaginable was available and i would recommend trying the Mojito and CocoLoco cocktails. The pool areas were kept very clean and sunbeds were always available. It was my birthday while there and the staff surprised me with a basket of fruit and bottle of wine delivered to my room and decorated our table at the evening meal with candles and brought a bottle of champagne. We went with the intention of having a relaxing week in the sun being spoilt and that's what we got. Well done to all the staff who were always smiling and helpful, we can't wait to go back next year! Would definitely recommend a visit to Palmitos Park, the dolphin show is excellent and the surroundings are beautiful.

Perched above the beach of Amadores is the Clubhotel RIU Vistamar which offers a fantastic view over either Puerto Rico or Amadores beach which can be reached by the hotel shuttle bus which runs every half hour.
The hotel reception is on floor 8 with the pool areas on floor 9 and 10, the main restaurant is on floor 7 which can only be reached via floor 8 and either walk it down or take a lift if you have walking difficulties.
All rooms are on five floor from floor 5 downwards and all the rooms have sea view. If you prefer the morning sun then chose any room up to number 50 i.e. 501 – 550 or 101 to 150 and all these rooms overlook Puerto Rico. All rooms above 51 overlook Amadores Beach and have the sun in the afternoon until it sets in the evening.
The best view is on floor 5 and I would suggest that you contact the hotel prior to your arrival (clubhotel.vistamar@riu.com) and request a room on this floor and if a room is available they will only be too happy to oblige.
The other reason as to why you should try to stay on the upper floors is the lift which can be notorious slow in peak times and you may have to wait a long time or walk up the 8 floors.
Food in the restaurant is in line with all RIU club hotels; it’s all buffet with a fairly good selection and, unless you are a fuzzy eater, should be able to find something to suit your taste and liking.
The main draw back in the restaurant is the seating arrangement as you are given a table which you keep whilst you are there but the tables are rather close together so you might feel a bit claustrophobic. If you don’t like it or you don’t fancy your neighbours then just speak to the Head Waiter and he will give you another table.
There is a speciality restaurant next to the pool bar and you can book it with the head the night beforel. The choice is either Asiatic or Canarian food.
Entertainment is a bit of a hit and miss; it’s mainly provided by the animation team who are great miming to the songs rather than singing them but they do have a few professional acts during the week.
If you wish to go out then there are plenty of taxis available, just ask reception to call one, and it’s no more than 4 Euros within the Puerto Rico area.
There are two levels of pools with plenty of sunbeds and there is no need to creep out in the morning to reserve it unless, of course, you want to be in a specific location.
The staff are friendly, efficient and obliging and you never wait long for a drink even if it is busy.

Just back from Vistamar, good hotel, good food, and good drinks, something for all.
entertainment,** 2 star, but they do their best. Kids enjoyed it,but not for adults.
Be prepared for many steps, but if you have walking problems there are lifts.
One of the down sides, In the restaurant the red wine and the white wine was not very
nice, and at the pool bar it was the same, but the bar in the theatre had good wine. all other
drinks were good, and plenty of soft drinks. So for evening meal we took wine from the theatre
to the restaurant. I must add again the selection of food is very good.
there is a notice concerning dress code, I like to dress for dinner, but a few people were
wearing shorts, I think this should be put right.
Two pool areas, the bottom pool a bit rowdy, but we prefered the upper pool area,it was
quieter. BUT BUT BUT. the water was cold, i am 73, and it was too cold for me, the sea would have been warmer. all in all a good holiday.

Went to Vistamar 7 years ago and had a lovely time so went again this year. Warm welcome from receptrion staff, lovely room high up overlooking the golden bay. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Good selection of food but don't bother booking for a meal upstairs (rubbish), plenty of choice in the main restaurant. Very hot this time which was great, until the evening; very poor air con. Decor a little dated now but kept clean. Took smart clothes for the evening as 7 year ago the dress code was different but don't bother to take anything special as most people were dining in shorts and flip-flops (peasants). Won't be going again as we prefer smarter dining but if you want a relaxed, sweaty time in flip-flops this is definitely for you. Standards are falling with Riu!

Room Tip: When you get to reception ask for a room high up overlooking the bay away from the elevator - lovely...

The Vistamar is situated on top of a cliff overlooking the bay, so beautiful views. Excellent food, service and staff very friendly. We had adjoining rooms as we went as family, they were comfortable and well furnished with balcony, everything you needed. Swimming pools and bars really lovely with towells provided. Short walk (up hill) to shops and bars etc, but Puerto Rico easy to get to by bus or taxi. Plenty to see and do. Would definitely visit the Vistamar again.

Room Tip: Ground floor not so good as you dont have such good views of the bay.

My boyfriend treated me to a week's all inclusive holiday at the Riu Vistamar as a birthday present. What a wonderful surprise it turned out to be,as we enjoyed our week so very much. The hotel is a short transfer of approx. 40 minutes from the airport. We arrived on a late night flight - we were checked in very efficiently at around 1 o'clock in the morning and were still able to enjoy a full buffet and drinks in the dining room and chat with some fellow travellers. The hotel is 'upside down' with reception, bars, entertainment and pools at the top and the rooms are built down from the top floor. We had read that the better rooms were the ones on the higher floors. We were given a room on the 3rd of the 5 bedroom floor levels. All rooms have a fabulous sea view and some have a view also of the beach. We were more than happy with our room which amply accommodated a very large bed, chests of drawers and plenty wardrobe space. A good sized balcony too and the room safe in the room was free.
The room was spotless and remained so throughout. The whole of the hotel was also spotless with all staff very friendly, polite and efficient - without being "in your face". A great asset to the hotel.
The two pool areas were also beautifully clean and plenty of sunbeds were generally available. Clean towels were available daily.
The food was very good at both breakfast and dinner. Plenty of variety for all tastes. I especially enjoyed the plentiful seafood. We did not use the main restaurant for lunch during our stay, but we were able to enjoy some very good snacks at the poolside - good snacks which were more than the usual hamburgers and hot dogs. The drinks were pretty much as we expected - not of exceptional quality but very drinkable nonethless. There were plenty of places around the hotel to help yourself to beer and wines.
The hotel is situated at the top of a steep hill. A regular courtesy bus is available for residents' use, which takes you between the hotel and the beach. We generally walked down the hill and occasionally walked back up. But this would not be an option for everyone, especially families with young children and, or pushchairs.
On the down side we were quite disappointed with the entertainment. The animation team worked hard, but the evening entertainment was lacking, was accommodated in a dark and dingy room with the seating quite regimented - like sitting in a cinema. Also the entertainment finished early at around 10.30pm.
A second, very minor gripe were the arrangments for seating for the evening dinner. We were not advised that a table would be alllocated to us for the duration of our stay and ended up sitting on the first night at an irate German couple's table. The problem was quickly sorted however and we had a very nice table for the rest of our holiday.
All in all, our stay was perefct and i would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. I know we will be left with lots of very happy memories of our holiday here.

Room Tip: Although we didn't, many people had e-mailed the hotel ahead, requesting certain rooms and were...

This was a 7 Night all inclusive Break. The welcome upon arrival was exceptional. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The Enterance is very clean and well maintained. There is a courtesy coach down to the beach daily and times vary. The room was always cleaned extremly well and Housekeeping staff were very pleasant. The food is very nice, however the only problem would be it is repeated daily so after a while get slightly bored. Having said that the quality was great and there was always a wide variety. A fantastic experience and great stay. Lifts to all floors were reasonably quick. Due to its location there is a lot of walking involved. Pool area Great but very difficult to get sun bed near to pool as a lot of people reserve sun beds early morning/Night before. Entertainment excellent for children but poor for Adults/Couples. Bar had a wide choice and service was quick. The rooms are large and balcony has great views. Has Air Conditioning which does work but is not very effective, Built in ceiling fan also which is advisable to leave on all day to keep room as cool as possible.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 1st floor are very quiet but are quite a walk down to room. (We were room 152) View of...
