We have stayed in a few Riu hotels, and the Vistamar met our expectations. The food was good, the hotel was clean and the staff were brillant. The location, although I knew it was on a cliff top, I did not realise how steep it actually was, which meant that if you wanted to go for a stroll after dinner, unless you wanted to walk up a steep hill you were stuck there for the night. We had a room on the first floor with views overlooking the sea, which was fine. The entertainment was passable, as the bar staff were a lttle more entertaining. Please be aware that there are stairs everywhere... even to the pool. I would recommend catching the localbus to the town of meloneres, it is a pretty resort and lots of designer shops.
I would recommend the Asian night. The restraurant has two sitting, 6.30 which is to early and 8.30 which is to late,so I was not impressed with this, and if this is to stop chaos trust me it does not, as the people in the restraurant just walk in front of you nearly tipping your plate out of your hand.

Nice break, but will not return to this hotel in particular.

We just came back. Our stay in that particular hotel was really nice; great food, great variety of drinks (soft and alc); pleasant, if not great at a times, entertainment (not for lack of trying on multinational entertainment crew side). Perfect service (waiters and waitresses) during the meals. Always self serving – so do not expect someone will bring your food to your table, not even in El Mirador (except for the drinks – soft drinks, beer or wine). They will also clean the tables, but that’s it.
There are 3 type of cuisine in El Mirador: Andalusian(sat, sun, mon) – not bad, Oriental(thu, fri) – very good; Barbecue (tue, wed) – very good. And you have to book the table there – best one day in advance, but also – what is good – you can eat ONLY THERE if you prefer… you can book the table there for your entire stay.
The reception desk crew is good, helpful, and eager to help.
Perfect place for lying at the pool on the longue, with periodical swim in the pool.
However there was something, that clouded the stay, and unfortunately, I am not about the weather. As for a 4 star hotel - of such a great holiday place - and the Jacuzzi was not working - more to it - they got to know it only because I asked them where is the button to switch it on... that should not happen!!! And as I am crazy about Jacuzzi, it was really disappointing.
Other thing is the wireless lan, for which we had to pay, and it was available ONLY IN THE LOBBY… in a 4 star hotel… while in Poland even 3 star hotel has it as complimentary feature in entire hotel… And no one will make me believe, it is because of the fact that we were on the island… Other hotels (e.g. in Taurito this Princess something hotels – both had complimentary wireless lan).
Also one thing about cleaning ladies… the closer to the end of our stay, the more they became bon-idle. Like 5 days before end they gave us one towel less than it should be… and probably the hotel would thing we took it… But in some cases, they were over-eager… like trashing things which were not IN THE TRASH BIN!!! Although I can understand the scrap of paper, or something like that, but clean bottle – like water bottle often used by sportsmen – that I cannot. And hotel only answer to it, was “we are sorry”. Not nearly enough.
And if you expect clear view on the ocean from the upper pool you’ll be disappointed, not only there is the glass installed (probably to prevent people from jumping or something) but is DIRTY as hell, and nothing can be seen through it!!!
Coming back to highlights… Great drinks… like strawberry daiquiri… or bottled champagne… loads of fruits with every meal, water, central AC, great view, quiet surroundings.

Overall – really good place – if you are not really demanding in some areas… but otherwise – perfect place.

Room Tip: dependant on what you prefer: * sunset view with Tenerife, and playa de Amadores - rooms with last...

We have stayed at this hotel for many years, we have been seven times and are returning again in January for our eighth visit and I am sure it won't be our last, we visit other places but find ourselves wanting to return here.

The hotel is situated at the top of a cliff face but it doesn't cause any problems it just means that all the rooms have fantastic views, there is a regular coach service down to the beach and back again and if you don't want to wait for the coach reception can have a taxi there in minutes and it costs about 3 euros.

There are two lovely swimming pools the top pool is an infinity pool but is a bit on the cool side but the views are lovely there. There is a solarium area with views out to sea and a nice childs pool and childrens club.

The food at the pool bar and in the restaurant is exemplery and there is always something different to eat. You have two seatings for dinner 6.30pm and 8.30pm and you are allocated tables for your evening meal so you never have to worry about finding somewhere to sit. If you are not happy with your seats then they will willingly move you to another table.

The entertainment is okay it is your typical tribute acts but can be quite funny. You can also go to the Pool bar from 9pm if you don't wish to be in the entertainment room.

The rooms are all lovely and clean and in good condition. The cleaners work really hard to keep the rooms and all the public areas really clean. The staff will go the extra mile for you and always manage a lovely smile and will have a laugh with the kids.

This hotel is fantastic and you certainly get value for money. Go on give it a go and I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Room Tip: Email the hotel before you go to request a room, I like the lower floor rooms. You can also request...

This is a fantastic hotel, set right on top on very steep hill. It has fantastic views all the way round. The pool is on the top of the hotel and is a very well kept area. The rooms are great our was very big with tv, fridge air con, lovely balcony over looking the sea. A very large bathroom with hair dryer as well.

Pool towels are also provided and could be changed every day and bottles of water were given freely in Reception. The food is exellent and well above the four star rating it gets. It is quite a way down to the beach ( which is beautiful) but a courstey bus runs about every hour, we caught a taxi which was only 3 euros. There are a few tourist shops and bars to go in. Staff and entertainment team were brilliant. Weather was very very hot!!

Room Tip: As for a room near the top of the hotel.

We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Clubhotel Rui Vistamar, I read many reviews on the hotel before I left and hoped that our expectations would be met, we were not disappointed. Firstly you do need to request 4 weeks in advance, if you are wanting the 5th floor, this can be done by emailing the hotle direct, you won't recieve an email back though! it really is worth doing as any floor lower than the 3rd, I can only imagine have poor views. On arrival we were given keys to room 510, these didn't overlook the beach, but had amazing views of the ocean. Rooms are clean and spacious and the bathroom is ok, the shower isn't the best in the world but it did the job. One thing I think the hotel could do with doing is putting a light on the veranda as it's too dark to sit out and have a drink at night. The entertainment team and all the staff work really hard, they really are non stop all day. Food was the best Ive had in an all inclusive in fact we couldn't fault it at all, There are 2 sittings for dinner at this time of year, 6.30pm and 8.30pm you are allocated a time on check in which we were given the 6.30pm slot which I felt was a little too early, you can request to change this but have to do ths at the resturant which we did no problam. As we had a late flight back we asked about keeping the room on, this cost 50euros so we didn't bother, i'm glad we didn't as the courtesy rooms were great. Pool area is great it's just a shame that the bar closes up there at 6pm and doesn't re open until 9pm which isn't good when you want a pre dinner drink sat outdoors, The main bar where for the entertainment is set out like a theatre which looks bizarre, this bar opens at 6pm but gets very hot in there. Over all we had a great holiday and would definatley go back. My only reason for not giving the hotel an Excellant review is the inflexibilty of bars opening times and the shower being a bit dated .

Room Tip: Email to request the 5th floor 4 weeks before you travel.

Having stayed in many Riu hotels this is definatly one of the oldest. Our first room on bottom floor (191) was awful. Almost like a cave. No sea view just solid rock. In my opinion this should be a store room, not for guests. I went straight back to reception where we were given the room above which still had limited view. Reception staff were very good & said they would find us a better room for the next day which they did on the 3rd floor. So be warned unless you email in advance you will be put in the bottom floor rooms which i think should be at a reduced rate. This hotel could do with a total refurb to bring it in line with most other Riu Hotels. Air con is dire throughout. As i said before the food was lovely with lots of choice & staff were so helpful. Had a lovely holiday overall even with these few hiccups.

Room Tip: You must email for high floor room.!!!!
