“great hoiliday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2014

on arrival it looked good then got showed to our room and we thought this is not good had to go down a dingey corridor to get to the door got inside and thoght no we dont like this but openened the curtains and thought wow great big balcony table and chiars for four plus 2 sunbeds but most inportant sea views.dinner the first night we thought no dont like this but we were tired from travelling this was the 23rd of december 2013 . xmas eve time to look round the weather was fantastic about 72 not a cloud in the sky thats what we came for and we thought we are not big fuss people so just went with the flow.the place just got better and better one overcast day in ten not bad considering the weather at home. swimming in the sea on xmas day and everyday felt great. even the food was ok if u take your time and look for stuff u like the adult area with the jacuzi is nice shame its not heated though. ferry trip to peurto de morgan is worh a trip about 11 euros each. the only down side is the 700 steps to the beach but taxis are cheap so save your legs. we found a stunning little beach at the bottom of the hill cross the road and turn right follow the path along then you come accross a lovely little bay spent most of our time there, all the staff at puerto azul work very hard so you can relax and have a great holiday.we were a couple and just did our own thing but this place is fantastic for families its got evrythig to keep the kids happy, we read some bad reviews about this place but in our experience we had a fabulous hoiliday

Room Tip: our room was number 4505 i would say the higher up the better

Stayed at this hotel with my wife and 2 children aged 12 and 9 and absolutely delighted again. food was good views stunning again from room. Rooms are basic but very clean wide screen tv fridge even when a i. also a hair dryer etc. Pool is lovely yes they were strict with food at poolside but this is only trying to keep it clean etc.
Plenty of good bars up top in europa centre and down bottom very steep hill. we would walk down after food (as most of the entertainment we had seen last time) and then get a taxi back up about 4 euro

As other reviewers have said over 700 steps down to the beach - then you have the same number to get back up. We went for Christmas week and it was 21 degrees. I cannot imagine what those steps would be like when the temperature is over 38 during the summer months. I am a fit person who does at least 2 hours of exercise a day but this was a killer. You would spend over 40 euros in taxi fares on a one week stay to get to the beach and back so take extra cash. Also many steps within the complex. We had 100 steps to get to the restaurant. There were three small lifts covering about 3 floors each but you had to walk quite a way to get from one lift to the other so definitely not suitable for the infirm or very young children. Also quicker to walk during meal times as you couldn't get in a lift.

Food was OK but felt like a cafeteria and not a restaurant. Notices said there was a dress code but no one seemed to be there to enforce it. There was nothing for adult's to do in the evening. No entertainment. Nowhere to go for a walk in the evening so we bought a TV card and watched a lot of television. I cannot image what you would do to pass the time if the weather was really bad - you would need to get out of Puerto Rico resort.

On the positive side - reception staff were very helpful, good choice of food, good views, most rooms have patio and sea views, rooms were comfortable and clean, pool's area's were good.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms nearest to the restaurant.

I stayed at this hotel in the middle of august for a week with a friend and her parents, overall the holiday was good but for a teenager like myself it lacked entertainment in the day and night that you would expect from a hotel and its 'animation' team, therefore we spent most nights in the center of Peurto Rico in an attempt to entertain ourselves and found that we spent quite abit of money in the bars.

Overall the hotel was not all bad for what you paid for as arriving at the hotel, none of us were expecting the Hilton, although i do think that making subtle changes would benefit the hotel, for example they're were set times in which you could actually enter the pool while the man cleaning it would stand and chat to the lifeguard all morning, for a child who is on holiday as soon as they are up they want to be in the pool messing around! Also they're were certain rules such as you were not aloud to reserve sunbeds but this was annoying when you put all your stuff down on a sunbed to go get a drink and return to find your stuff has disappeared. There were some form of entertainment in the day such as water aerobics, which i found more cringey than appealing. Therefore for two teenagers the only think left to do was to sunbathe but after hours of sunbathing, we found ourselves buying games and magazines from the shop to keep ourselves occupied.

The food at the hotel was lovely i never went hungry, and as a fussy eater it is always a job to find something that i liked but i had no problem, the bacon in the morning was particularly good. Two nights out of the week we ate out in Peurto Rico, at a Chinese and Italian restaurant and the food was lovely!

The room me and my friend shared was connected by a door to her parents which we had no problem with as if we needed them they were next door, the overall look of the room was a little dated but you cannot expect the best, however it was always clean! and we got a lovely sea view so we were very happy with what we received.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, and had a lovely time with great company, i would probably not return to this hotel again as i would like to try somewhere different in Gran Canaria or possibly on one of the other Canary Islands, But i have no problem recommending this hotel for any family's with young children or older couples.

Room Tip: All the rooms seem to have had a sea view! and all seemed to be quiet.
