“Fantastic pool and location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2012

Recently stayed with a friend in a roomy studio. Kitchen a little dated but room was very clean and cleaned with new towels every day but one. Gorgeous view from balcony over the harbour and sea.
Really big clean pool. Friendly and helpful staff. In quieter part of town, but close to some bars and restaurants.€2/3 euro to main centre, but not long walk.

Hi stayed her a few years ago the location is great view is amazing pool was a great size I'd stay there again the decor was not even that out dated at all for peurto rico just remember it is a studio there where three of us staying there which was fine but we don't care cause we where three best friends it's just a few steps to the passarella centre it's quite small with one irish bar one english bar both are very good and good food good price and it's always happy hour there are also a few restaurants and shops looking out onto the harbour I'd stay here again to see what the new management is like but judging on what ive seen so far they aim to please because they have refubished the place and it was not even that bad to start with

Pool area and reception were fine. Pool side bar was nice with a good view of the sea.
The studio's were very very basic, not much space at all, a little bit cramped. They are very out-dated/old fashioned apartments with no air conditioning.
Seen two cockroaches on the first night and one was in our sink.
Steps up to the apartment would cause trouble for elderly people staying at the apartments, however a taxi is only 3euro at most.

Can't say i would recommend it to anyone though.

We have just come back from weeks stay at the Punta Del Rey. We had requested a high room but when we arrived we were advised that only the first floor of the main hotel and the rooms above the supermarket were open.

Our room was on the first floor basic but clean (very dated) these rooms have not been refurbished. There was a flat screen TV on the wall but no satalite so useless unless you understand Spanish. There was no microwave as advertised and we had to request a kettle.

The view over the harbour was excellent but if you are a sun lover you should be aware that none of the balconies get sun in the afternoon.

The pool was a very nice area and the pool bar stayed open from 10am to 6pm, the restaurant that was advertised was closed.

I think if we had stayed at this hotel at a different time of year things would of been very different as there were very few people staying I would say they were only 18 rooms occupied.

The hotel is situated in a good position for walking to the beach which is about a 10 minute walk (lots of steps) and the centre is about a 15 minute walk away. Amadores beach is about a 25 minute walk along the coast which is well worth doing.

Walking about in Puerto Rico can be a hassle because of the pests trying to sell time share and the restaurant touts but you do get harden to it the best thing is not to acknowledge them at all just look straight ahead and keep walking.

We did have a very nice stay at the Punta Del Rey and would go back.

We had last minute booked a 14-day vacation trip with Danish Star Tour to the Apartment Hotel Punta del Rey in the period from 28 July to 11 August 2011.

The warnings on this page were obviously of some concern, but we had nevertheless a fantastic holiday. The view over the city, beach and marina in Puerto Rico was beautiful.

You could see that the hotel was undergoing renovation. It was also quite clear that the garden was well kept. The pool area with poolside bar and sun deck was fitted with artistically performed terracotta tiles - as we also saw in the whole area. However, it cannot dispel the impression of a sparsely equipped apartment. It was obvious that the one-bedroom apartment we could book were simply too small for three people with luggage. Towels were replaced only once a week, a better routine could be bought for € 5.00 /day.

There was a familiar and personal atmosphere, so you felt very quickly welcome and comfortable. There was a small well-stocked (but not cheap) "over the counter supermarket" in the hotel area, as well as a restaurant, which unfortunately was closed when we visited the place.

The location gave us many hours of sunshine and from the pool area and the balcony were a wonderful sea view, and you could see large parts of the valley with the town of Puerto Rico. Our apartment was perfect for sun and views. The balcony had new synthetic wicker furniture, and we enjoyed sitting out there and enjoy the sun as well as the ocean view and evening light over the city.

The Canarias are experiencing a declining influx of visitors. Several restaurants were empty, and you had to look far for visitors. The staff told us that more and more travelers chose "All Inclusive", which obviously moves trade away from the restaurants. We now prefer to be able to choose from time to time.

The hotel provides an easy access to the beach and down town area. You simply take the stairs just off Punta Del Rey, walk over the bridge and end up almost directly on the beach, the restaurants and shops within only 5 minutes. The venue is not particularly suitable for handicapped people – because of the simple fact, that you also got to walk back up to the hotel – unless you take a cab!

Stayed here on two occasions, in august 2004 and august 2006. Rooms are basic but very clean which is the main thing. Up on the fourth floor so there was a fantastic view and not a cockroach in sight. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was really good in the restaurant, even got free spainish lessons off the waiters there. Only downside is the steps! Not really good for elderly or disabled people. But then taxis are dirt cheap. Close to the main area in puerto Rico but far enough away from all the noise. Would stay again, especially now that it has been refurbished.
