We booked this property based on location and it way exceeded our expectations. The apartments are very spacious. We stayed in a 2 bedroomed apartment and the facilities are excellent. The property has been refurbished and our room had two spacious bedrooms with mirrored wardrobes, a safe, fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, electric juicer and all things necessarty for a self catering holiday. Plenty of crockery, cutlery, pans, chopping board and cooking utensils.
On site there is a supermarket and a fantastic Indian Restaurant named the Taj Palace. Prices are very reasonable too. Below the property there are several restaurants, pubs and a beuty salon. The noise from the bars was not a problem as after midnight, they wind down and can not be heard at all.

The property has excellent views overlooking the marina and / or beach and is a one minute walk to the beach. We are looking to book up again next year and can not wait to go back! Photo's will follow

The Portonovo is surely one recommendable place to stay. My mother and I were here in the mid part of August this year. It is very centrally situated with just a few minutes walk to the most needed town facilities like shopping centres, restaurants and the beach. Portonovo is indeed one place to long for:) Regards, Jacob Hansen, Harstad, Norway.

We stayed at apartment ref c2201 on the Ownersdirect website. All the apartments here are individually owned so they are not all standard. We were very pleased with the location, conveneient to the port and restaurants and bars and not too far from the shops. It was furnished quite satisfactorily with excellent domestic appliances including a kettle wich is missing from a lot of Spanish owned apartments. It was quiet with a lovely view and the balcony was private enough. The beds were comfortable. The bar food menu was limited but the company there was very pleasant. I recommend the apartment. The number of steps would be a problem for someone with mobility difficulties.

Location, location, location - after two Puerto Rico holidays walking up to the top to apartments loved the location - restaurants, bars and supermarket on site and within walking distance. We were on the ground floor with a little garden outside and found the apartment had all the facilities we needed (including coffee maker and juicer). Cleaner was excellent even washing dishes when we were not there (when clearner called when we were in the apt we always told her not to wash them) . Reception staff were very helpful and organised two trips for us on request. Great shower and bathroom facilities to use after check out. My son and his family had a first floor apartment and although their view was restricted by a palm tree also enjoyed their stay. No problems at any time getting sunbeds and\or umbrellas (although the apartment was fully booked). Swam in the pool every day - cold at first but once I began swimming felt warm fairly soon. Although the pool is 1.40 metres at the lowest most children also swam - some with armbands. Would definitely go back to Portonovo.

The website looks promising with cool pictures and promises sea views from all rooms, balcony and so on. This is far from the truth. We had a room on the ground floor with a view on a palm and people walking by and peeking through the windows.

The refridgerator in our apartment did not work. We got the lights on so no problems with the electricity. Next nice thing to begin a holiday with was that there were some marks in the balcony door after somebody had tried to break the door. We felt not only uncomfortable but now a bit unsafe too, so we went to the reception and asked if we could get a new room on the second floor, but the receptionist said there are no free rooms. We told about the fridge, and later that day somebody had fixed it. There were still no working light in the fridge, but we were glad it at least started to cool down. Missing the light was actually a bit funny at this point.

Next problem was the water boiler. First it seemed not to work at all, but we found out that it was just working badly. Getting the boiler to start was a bit tricky sometimes, but as we were able to make hot water, we did not go to meet the receptionist again.

The cleaner came only twice during our holiday week. The first time she was about to come, I was just taking a shower. She told she'll come back later. We supposed it would be within some hours, but it was after two days.

On her second cleaning visit she took hotel towels away and did not bring any clean ones, so we had to go and ask for them at the reception. Also after that clean up, one of the two beds was made but the other one was not. Well, not a big deal, but what's the point anyway? It seemed they really did not care, they just did something they could call a clean up. We could see spiders on the ceiling time to time.

This is without one doubt the WORST hotel experience I have ever encountered.
It felt wrong right in the beginning as we entered the room, because the room looked like nobody cleaned it before our arrival. After seeing the messy apartment with some non-working kitchen equipment, we thought this room were not meant to be used at all.

Of course, it is not a 5-star hotel, but is it too much to expect the equipment included in the room would work, and the staff would do their job? From now on I will always look for 4 to 5 star hotels even if it costs more. I did not feel comfortable at all mostly because of how unprofessional the staff was.

We where at this hotel in one week stay. We have read here in other review's that there is not a good hotel, but we disagree. We had a lovely stay at the hotel, and would like to stay there again. The room was clean and bed sheets where changed every secondday. The shower was very nice, a new cabinett, and most important HOT water. The power lines where function as it should, no breakdowns. The only down is that it had no resturant in the hotel. Some noice from nightlife, but it ended at 01:00 am. The beach was a bit crowded, but very nice and sandy.
So all in all, no need to don't go to this hotel. We had an very nice stay.
