I stayed here with my boyfriend for two weeks in July, and we both absolutely loved it!

Our first impressions were that it looks very nice and clean, and were impressed with the size of our room and balcony! The view was amazing, could pretty much see the whole of Puerto Rico, particularly the beach and harbour :)

We had all the facilities we needed, we don't watch tv on holiday so can't understand why some people complain about this. We didn't feel the need for aircon (which costs extra, around €50 per week) as there was a fan in the room and we kept the bedroom window open the whole time.

The only thing we weren't keen on in the hotel was the dodgey lift haha, but we're not good with those anyway and got used to it when we couldn't be bothered with the steps anymore!

The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the Europa centre, where we went for breakfast most mornings as we went self catering. The Europa centre had everything we needed and we loved having a choice between this and the main shopping centre in Puerto Rico, which is about a nice 20-30 minute walk or €4 in a taxi.

The two pools were really nice and again clean. We sometimes struggled to get a sunbed, but I suppose that's to be expected at this time of year.

The bar staff were friendly and the entertainer was brilliant. There were some activities during the day and a disco and entertainment in the evenings. Of course I must mention happy hour between 4 and 4:45pm, when it's buy one get one free for all drinks :)

I would definitely recommend this hotel to other couples and also families :) if we go to Puerto Rico again we will definitely stay here again.

I came to gran canaria with my family, hoping for a relaxing 2 weeks before the schools went back. its fair to say i didnt really enjoy the hotel. We went half board, which meant we got breakfast and dinner. i never enjoyed the breakfasts as they made the same food every morning. The dinners were better but still not the best. the entertainment was ok. they had a mini disco for the younger kids yo start with then they other entertainment came on. there was different types of shows but most of them were animal shows. The rooms were rather poor, most days we got less towels and had to share. Some days the cleaner came really early then said she would come back (she never). the views from our room were amazing. another bad thing about the rooms was there was no air conditioning, you had to pay extra. it was about 100 steps to our apartment and its about 700 steps to the beach but you can get a taxi for about 3/4 euro.

I have just recently returned from a trip to the riosol with my mum dad and sister and we all had a great time! The rooms providing you awarded your cleaner a little tip every now and then were immaculate with fresh towels being given most days. The view from our hotel was splendid as we could see all of Puerto Rico beach and the harbor.

The staff at the hotel were pleasant and happy to assist when needed.Their are 2 swimming pools which provides during week days) a lot of sunbeds meaning reserving them is not necessary, however on weekends the locals tend to stay at the hotel meaning the pool areas become very congested, which did mean you would have to be at the pool at a decent early time to bag a sunbed. At nights for me sleeping was very difficult as it got very hot in my room and as air conditioning was an extra cost i was often woken in the night by the heat.

. The hotel was very conveniently situated within a few minutes walking distance of the Europa center , where you can find a load of bars , restaurants and a supermarket. There are two beaches near bye , Puerto Rico beach is down a flight of 700 steps which if you are up to it can be a nice walk. a taxi back up is usually around 3-4 euros. However around the corner is also amadores beach which is the nicest of the two and just for a few euros in a taxi you will be greeted by beautiful turquoise sea's. The entertainment at night was often good fun to spectate and to be a part of. The entertainer is very imaginative and funny with what he does and the hotel has brought in some good shows as well.

The hotel is well equipped with leisure and sports facilities such as tennis courts , a gym , table tennis and snooker and air hockey tables. Food at the hotel us satisfactory and the staff at the bar are polite and friendly. There is also a happy 'hour' from 4 till 4:45 every day where it is a buy one get one free on most drinks.

All in all i had a great time at the hotel and if returning to gran Canaria i would definitely consider staying their again

I travelled to Hotel Riosol with my husband & teenage daughter. As others have said not all apartments have the stunning views shown on websites. I was one of the unlucky ones with the view over the skip!! We had a two bedroom apartment right at the back of the hotel, which meant every morning around 7 being subjected to the staff very noisily arriving for work and opening the big metal doors in the ramp above us. Not too big a deal as we were up early most days in order to get a sun lounger by the pool. We also experienced several issues with the door to the apartment not locking and had to report this no less than 5 times, every time it was repaired but it only lasted a day before being broken again. The shower in the apartment also didnt drain so the bathroom ended up flooded, this was again reported & fixed immediately. Towards the end of the holiday there was a power cut which blew the kettle, we reported this and the maintenance man came and took the kettle away but brought no replacement, despite requesting this 3 times at reception there was still no kettle when we checked out 4 days later. Word of warning the weekends get inundated with locals using the pool & suddenly the hotel invoke their no reserving loungers policy which is non existent Monday to Friday. What was very obvious was the pool attendant certainly had favourites and removed tools of most other nationalities if the lounger had been unattended for 30 minutes but those from Gran Canaria remained untouched. Another thing to watch whilst by the pool is beware of water polo!!! The entertainment guy asks who wants to play but does not hang around to referee, in fact on one occasion he left a young Spanish girl no older than about 12 in charge of the men's game which became very competitive & rough. My daughter was hit in the face by the ball & we had several other near misses!! The toilets by reception, the only toilets in communal area were dirty & smelly by about mid day & remained that way for the rest of the day. broken hand dryer in the ladies the entire time we were there. The bar & snack bar staff were excellent could not fault them at all. Very friendly & nothing was too much trouble. On the other hand a few of the waitresses at night in the hotel restaurant good do with re-training. I highlighted to one, I think potentially Danish waitress, that the chicken being served one night was raw near the bone, her response was a shoulder shrug and move on to clear the next table!! If you want to use the safe it's €2.10 per day for the privilege, €50.00 per week for air conditioning with an additional €25.00 deposit. You also have to pay for the TV & remote control but I can't enlighten you to the cost of this as I felt it was ridiculous to pay for tv!! I would recommend trying the El Toro restaurant over in the Europa centre, excellent food & excellent service and fantastic value for money. We did the 700 steps to the beach twice, only on the way down. Well worth doing & a taxi back only costs €3-€4. Overall we enjoyed our holiday but were disappointed by several things that could so easily be improved on.

Just back from a two week stay at this great hotel! We traveled as a family with a very energetic five year old. Our apartment was modern, spacious, clean and very well equipped: two ringed cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, small fridge with freezer and hairdryer. Our room was cleaned everyday except sunday and thurs (we arrived on a sat), our towels were changed everyday and the beds three times a week. There was also a large stand alone fan in the apartment which kept it nice and cool.

Well situated near the smaller of the shopping centres in Puerto Rico, which houses an array of bars, restaurants (give el brasero a bash- the guys are great esp with kids and the food is amazing and very cheap), nic nac shops and a decent supermarket for your 'big shop' although the wee on site shop is good for ice pops, milk, bread etc!

There are plenty of things happening around the pool throughout the day and the animation staff work hard to make sure you have a fun-filled holiday! However, one of the reasons we booked this hotel was because of the kids club, the area itself was grand but it wasn't advertised very well and only opened maybe two hours per day, maybe if they blew the whistle to attract attention and did a conga line down to the kids club area they would find more kids would attend. Our son literally spent about half an hour one day out of the whole holiday down there!

There are two adult pools the smaller one of which was an eco-pool (no chemicals and heated by solar power) situated above the buffet area, the other one is large and very deep(8.8ft), even at its most shallow point not really suitable for non-swimmers, then a very small kiddies pool! We never had a problem getting a sun lounger although there was the usual problem of towels hogging them, I did on occasion see one of the pool attendants lift a load of towels but I just thought proper order!

I felt the need to write this wee review as some of the comments left by other people were largely unfair to the hotel and nit picked at things that were often out of their control!

Overall we had a fantastic holiday and the staff were very helpful, polite and couldn't do enough to help make your stay as happy and comfortable as possible, will def be back.

Room Tip: We asked for a room near reception, which we got (3044) our bedroom was in the shade all day so it w...

Just returned from a 10 day break at the Riosol and it was excellent. Booked a 2 bed apartment for me, hubby and 2 daughters and there was plenty of space - more like 2 apartments joined together so you ended up with 2 bathrooms, 2 fridges etc with a living room in the middle. It was cleaned 8 days out of the 10 and the only unwelcome visitors were a cockroach and a lizard!

The food was good and the entertainment very typical ie mini disco, bingo but during the day they provided aqua aerobics, tennis, football etc.

It is a long way up but we knew to expect that - they have a lift to take you down to the road then 700 or so steps down to the beach but in all honesty it was quite an easy journey down - we always got a taxi back up which was approx 3 euros.

There were plenty of sunbeds as long as you got there by around 9am. The attendant did remove towels if folk put towels on the beds and then left them unattended before 9am which we thought was pretty good.

All in all we had a really good time and if we go back to Gran Canaria we would certainly stay there again.

this was the second time at the riosol and have to say I was less impressed this time round.
felt as though as soon as the staff heard we were not Spanish we were forgotten about. we had two apartments and neither were cleaned particularly well yet our neighbours below got extra towels every day, and round the pool, they removed everyone's towels except the Spanish.
we had a broken light in our apartment which we reported the first night but they only came to fix it as we were leaving and on the last day we took our luggage up to the safe room only to return to our apartment to find they had moved all our remaining belongings ( travel clothes, toiletries,) out of the apartment and a cleaner amd maintainance man were in there and they just said " oh we not knot you still here" pft.. Going back to GC in October to THE EDEN

Room Tip: learn as much Spanish as you can

Thank you for taking the time to post your review.
Riversun-Touristic offers it’s Hotel services to international guests, and the percentage of their nationalities varies every week.
All the members of our Team work very hard to offer the best service to all our guests, no matter who they are and where they come from.
It is sad to know that in your eyes you got a discriminatory treatment from our co-workers, in my opinion this is just a misunderstanding caused by the comparation of two different kind of apartments: the Premium apartments with daily cleaning (and towel-changes) and the Standard Apartments with 5 cleaning days and three towel-changes per week.
In the Premium Apartments you get bigger balconies, design furniture, air conditioning, safe, satellite T.V. , WIFI and daily cleaning for an extra cost of 30 Euros more a day.
In our Swimming pools in order to facilitate the rational use of the sunbeds, it’s not permitted to reserve them wile you are away for a period longer than 30 minutes. Obviously if the owners are not there it’s impossible for the staff to know their nationalities .
About the delay in the replacement of the bulb and the confusion at the check-out with the maid and technician, we have already taken note and sincerely apologize for the inconveniences.

Kind Regards
