We have just returned from a fantastic family holiday and found the Riosol in Gran Canaria to be a wonderful place to stay!
There were 10 of us in our party and the Riosol staff were very helpful and accommodating, everyone was very friendly towards our two young children (5 and 2 years). The lift is something to be seen and although may look a little scary at first, is perfectly safe and in good working order.
The apartments were clean and comfortable and the food in the hotel restaurant was lovely. The entertainment in the evening was good, plenty for both young and old. The walk to the beach is a long one, we counted 701 steps, but the views are spectacular and well worth it! We would certainly return to Gran Canaria in the future and stay in the Riosol.

The Riosol apartments are low budget and basic. Although clean, we did have a cockroach visit one evening, however, for the canaries, this is expected. The apartment was clean and well equipped, with a good maid service. the beds however were extremely uncomfortable.

The hotel is very high up and out of the way. Up the road is the Eurpoa shopping centre, which is tacky and nasty, offering nothing but sleazy locals trying to get you into poor, dirty restuarants. The resort of Puerto Rico makes the TV programme Benidorm seem like luxury.

If you do not like steps, do not stay here. even after getting off the lift, we have a good 6 flights of stairs to get into the apartment and a very steep ramp. The old green lift that got you up and down the floors was like a battered Dr Who tardis.

Just be careful in staying here, look at the resort first of all. The only good thing was that we could walk to Playa Amadores beach. We will never ever be returning to Gran Canaria!

We just came back from a fantastic stay at the Riosol hotel. This was our first time in Gran Canaria and it won't be our last. We arrived at the hotel quite late and the man on reception was really helpful. Check in was very quick and simple. Our room was on floor 1 and we had to take the lift. What an excellent view we had of the entire bay.

I was surprised at how big the room was not alone the balcony, which was furnished with sunbeds, umbrella and table and chairs. The room was spotless, and equipped with everything, 2 rings for cooking, a microwave, tv, safe etc.

The hotel provided entertainment day and night. The drag show is a must see along with the international show.

The staff were always polite and very helpful. Especially the bar staff. The food is great and the outside bar area had lovely views.

The pools are the best. I have never seen a pool so clean. The roof top pool is heated with plenty of sub beds. The lower pool is cold but so refreshing on a hot day.

The supermarket was well stocked with everything you could ever want. The prices were not bad either.

We cannot wait to go back and are thinking of returning again in june. We absolutely love this place.

Room Tip: Lots of steps but a lift is provided would recommend floor 1 as always sunny, every room has a great view of the bay.

I stayed here with some friends recently and really enjoyed it. The apartments were a decent size and had a balcony with a table and two chairs as well as two sun loungers. Each apartment had cooking facilities(2 ring hob and microwave). They also had air conditioning, tv and a safe, all of which had to be paid for. I found this disappointing but it was one of the very few things that I didn't like about the Riosol.

It had 3 pools, all of which were very clean. There were plenty of sun loungers but it did get busy by the pool during the day. The Riosol also has a fitness centre and tennis court.

The hotel was very near a crazy golf course and shopping centre called The Europa centre. The Europa centre has some bars and restaurants, an arcade
and supermarket. We did go there much except to the supermarket and to an Italian restaurant it was a bit gloomy.

It is a €3-4 taxi ride to Puerto Rico centre or beach or you could walk there in about 30-40 mins(downhill). There is a walkway to the beach too down hundreds of steps, tough the first time you do it.

The children's club - 'Mini Club' is great. They hold sessions most days of the week and there is a children's disco in the hotel most evenings, which our daughter (age 6) thoroughly enjoyed. The staff are friendly and diligent and the hotel is very clean. The food is absolutely fantastic. There is a wonderful choice every day and we also felt that we had lots of healthy options all week with lots of salad, fruit, fish and meats on offer. The hotel atmosphere is calm and organised. There are just two negative points. One is the beds, which are quite hard, and the other is the temperature of the swimming pools - very cold. We did go at Easter, so I would imagine that in the summer the pools would be better heated by the sun. The beach is a good walk (downhill) away but it's a pleasant walk and there are plenty of taxis too. The beach is great (sandy) and there are plenty of boat trips. The cleaning service is excellent. Our maid did a fantastic job and regularly gave us fresh towels. We would definitely go back to Riosol for the simple reason that it's an easy family holiday.

Room Tip: Riosol is set into the mountain side. We had a room in the middle of the slope with a sea view. Some rooms further up the slope looked like they had smaller balconies, so request a larger balcony for sunbathing and sitting in the evenings looking out to sea. There is a lift in the hotel to get to the restaurant, supermarket, pools (at the top).
