We were on hols from 19th July to 31st: 4 children & 2 adults all inclusive. We had a great holiday. In general the resort is a busy self-catering and all inclusive resort that caters pretty well to all demands. Reception with Kim, and Juan is top class and they look to help your every request. Both are true professionals. The bar staff led by the superb Miguel but ably assisted by Ben, my favourite Chiro (for being different) and the lovely Bredina are all excellent who truly work very hard to ensure everyone has a wonderful holiday. Our room was a 2 bed apartment which was good, a little warm at the start but after a couple of days you get used to it. There is air conditioning available from reception for a hefty E50p.w. we passed. Safe is E20 for the 2 weeks with a refundable E10 deposit. There are plenty of beds every day but for those who only come along at 1pm they will have a difficulty finding 2 or 3 together. Plenty of english, welsh and scottish people present with a sprinkling of Irish and Spanish. Pool is very good, clean and well used. Entertainment is adequate but is an area that needs attention. There are no morning activities and the afternoon activities start at 2pm but leave a lot to be desired. Bingo at 4pm daily is good and everyone participates. Evening entertainment is not bad. Some good bird acts, the rock and hypnotist acts were all good. In general it was ok. For the smallies 2-6 though Pete the DJ did not try very hard and in general I think Pete needs to shake it up a bit. Food: as everyone is saying breakfast is an excellent fry, with cereals, yoghurts etc. Lunch: is generally the same every day, burgers, pasta, hotdogs, squid, excellent salad and desert, dinner in the evening has a wide range of foods on offer with the chefs trying a different dish or 2 every night. The barbeque night which is included in the all-inclusive is fantastic (the poor chef was under pressure) ribs, drumsticks and the steak were all to die for all accompanied by rice, pasta or chips & veggies and salad. The Chinese night I thought was only ok. For self-catering you can also take part for E11 adult of E6 for child. The food is very good and the kitchen does a really good job, after 2 weeks it does get repetitive but it would be no different at home. Drinks definitely do not have the same pizazz as at home but there are plenty of local brands to choose from - hard to get drunk which is no bad thing. Overall the resort with the play areas is a very good holiday made better by the quality of the staff. We did venture out to Amoderes Beach which is outstanding. Taxi is E3. Umbrella and 2 beds E9. Did the boat trip for the friday market to Playa Morgan E10 adult, E6 child, a great day out. it really is a nice town; The Europa centre close to the apts 5 mins for me was not good, definitely not buggy friendly. The main centre in town is far better and only E3 in the taxi. We used resort hoppa from the airport and they run an excellent service. Overall the weather was great and we all had a great time and it is recommended for families

Room Tip: Be sure to talk to Kim on reception if you have a particular requirement

We just got back after another wonderful time at the Eden. This was the second summer we went to the Eden apartment in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria.

As before we are very happy with the hotel, location, quality of food and the nice staff, it might have a 3 * rating but we would think that was a bit low compared to other hotels in the same category.

We felt that a BIG improvement this year was the entertainment. Last year the entertainment program was very repetitive and the entertainer let the hotel down because he was focused on himself instead of us guests. This year the entertainer did everything to make us feel at home at the hotel. He had put together a varied program both day and night. (See our picture of the programme) And he was very popular amongst both adults and the children (of which he seemed to have a group around him at all times)..
And parents.. we know how it is; if our kids are happy we are all having a GREAT holiday.

Thank you very much everybody at Eden for making our stay another GREAT one, we will be back!

Just arrived back from the Eden apartments last night. My boyfriend and I stayed in a one bedroom apartment for 10 nights, self catering. The actually apartment was extremely warm when we arrived but this could be due to it being a heat wave. The fridge had been turned off for some reason and there was a soaking wet towel left on the floor to soak up the water.

The actually room was a good size for 2 people but we never slept in the bedroom because it was far too hot even with the window open and with the fans on because there were not that powerful so every night we slept on the sofas in the living area. You could pay for Air con in the room but it cost €50 for 7 nights!

The room wasn't particularly clean, we found a dead cockroach under the sofa and I found stains on towels. There were also hairs in the bath and sink when we first arrived. I have stayed in gran canaria 3 times previous to this holiday so I expected to see a few cockroaches but I've never seen the amount I saw in these apartments before, we found that they were coming through all the Cracks in the tiles in the bathroom.

The hotel staff were ok, they weren't overlly friendly or helpful and the staff in the shop in the hotel were very rude. Because we went self catering I cannot comment on the food or entertainment in the hotel. We did stay by the pool a couple of times but it was very hard to find a sunbed because people reserved them even though there were signs saying to not reserve sunbeds. The " no ball games " sign and the " no diving " signs where also completely ignored so it was impossible to swim in the pool.

The Europa centre which is located 2 minutes away from the hotel was very good! There are loads of good restaurants and bars. We especially liked Barbacoa, they had great food and even better entertainment. The drag show trixie lyk is hilarious! The main shopping centre and beach is too far to walk in my opinion, but a taxi was only around €3.50.

I would personally not stay at the Eden apartments again, I think it is more suited to families who are going all inclusive. But we warned everything costs extra, the tv, air con, safe, and even to go on the inflatable in the pool!!

We stayed at the eden apartments from 7/7/12 - 14/7/12 and had a fab time.

Accomodation - we stayed all inc in a party of 9 including a 16 month old baby and a 2 year old.
The rooms were fine with a kitchen including a full size fridge freezer for families on a self catering holiday. The only downside we could find was our bathroom, which was a bit smelly on arrrival and could do with a serious re- fit.

Complex - really nice and clean and nice little kiddies pool hidden in the corner which we used a lot. Lots of kids though and wasn't school holidays so bear in mind if u like things a bit quiter

Restaurant - just the one buffet restaurant which was fine ( brekkie was best with english sausage, bacon etc plus lots of cereals and pastries etc). Lunch was usually same old thing i.e chips and burgers. Evening food was similar except for a bbq theme and a chinese buffet a couple of nights a week. Drinks were included 11-11 and barstaff were happy to give us 7 beers at a time etc.
Staff were fine and miguel was always friendly at brekkie.

Entertainment - different entertainment every night and the lionel richie tribute was very good.
our only disappointment with our stay was pete the entertainment guy - we were watching the hypnotist show and our 16 month old girl made a slight noise and he came rushing over saying the hypnotist needed complete silence!! .get real !! this embarrassed us in front of eveyone and we left ,causing us to miss the show

Weather - didnt see a cloud for 7 days - fantastic

Overall- great holiday but be aware this hotel is really high up in the island so if u go to the beach u would need a taxi costing 3 euros each way.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms away from pool for a quiter holiday

Stayed the 1st week in June for a week, good enjoyable week, not there for active holiday just to relax and with the lack of any adult entertainment helped, Pete the entertainer is really there just for the kids, but as we have stayed in the Edens sister hotel the Altamadores the previous 2 years so we knew what Pete was like.
The food was good and had no problems finding something tasty although the range seemed limited.
The drinks, all spirits were low alcohol, and the larger was not the best but if you drank enough it got you there!
Europa centre 5 minutes walk but bars are closing down due to the AI option at the hotels but if you fancy a night out c/w a kebab at the end of the night its worth a visit.
One thing that was noticable was the amount of people returning to the Eden and getting a warm welcome from the bar staff.
Rooms good and very clean with ceiling fans in the apartment to keep cool, weather was excellent.
Lift out of action for 2 days but only 2 flights of stairs so no big problem.
Amadores beach is a must and the walk round the cliff path to puerto rico is great but do not try to walk back up to the apartments unless you are very fit or disillusioned.
Good holiday but you make out of it what you want and if you go out to find faults you will, but if you go to relax and enjoy your time, you will.

just returned from the eden the lady on reception is called kim what a fantastic lovely lady nothing is too much trouble for her. the safe is 10 euros and 10 euros deposit, we hired a air con unit which cost us 50 euros for the week but it was well worth the money the apartment have ceiling fans in the lounge and bedroom but they dont do very much so it was money well spent when you have to sleep in boiling hot weather which was 30 degrees. we stayed for 11 nights and the maids visited us 4 times, lovely pool area, food was great especially the breakfast english sausages and bacon. lovely walk down to the beaches but you need a taxi back !!!!!! it will cost you about 4 euros for the taxi up but if you want to save a bit of money get the taxi to the europa centre instead and then walk down the lane at the side of the hotel which is a 2 mins walk you can save yourself about 1 euro
we were half board but if you are ordering a pint to go with your evening meal make sure that they fill the pint glass full to the top not 2 inches below the line cause if you was AI you would mind but at the end of the day you are paying for a full pint not half !!!!!!!
the extreme bar and the baradoca in the europa centre is fantastic for families
we went to the lago tautito water park which was great loads of sunbeds lots of slides for the children if you get on the bus to port mogan and you will pass the water park on the left hand side of the road you just get off at the next stop and the return bus stop is just outside the park which costs 13 euro for adults and 5 euros for children to enter which is half the price of the other waterpark and its much better.
the market in port mogan is huge on a friday
