Myself and Partner booked this hotel at in plenty of time for a bit of winter sun.

To start off we booked our whole holiday FlyGlobespan....flights were fine, tranfers were a different story. One coach driving from Aiport through Play de Inglis stopping at all hotels there(well felt like this) then on to Puerto Rico. Got dropped off outside the Carlota Hotel, to be honest it looked shut. Press the buzzer and took 5min before anybody walked by to let us in.

When we did get in and find reception we had a drunk spainish porter give us out room key. So we went away to the room after a long day of traveling and a very long bus journey to walk into our room and be hit by the smell of a unclean room(dust/damp and dirt). We tried to just get on with this intill i went in the bathroom and seen the place, towels that dirty it looked if they had clean dogs mess up with them, bath that was full of rust and crack, mirror hanging off the wall and then went into bedroom.....dampness on walls and worst of all wet beds.

After 5mins of this i went straight back down to reception to find the porter, argued with this guy trying to explain you wonuld let your dog sleep in there. Then by luck the guy who owned the bar built onto the hotel tunred and he spoke english and spanish, he explained in a nice way to get us a new room or call us a taxi, and he manged to get us the new clean room.

The pool and pool bar were great. Very clean and good value. The location for nightlife and general centre is spot on. About a 15min to the beach.

If you are going to Puerto Rico book the Marina Suites or Tamanaco hotel been to both and both are great.

stayed here for 1 week, this had been our second visit to the carlota and would definatley be returning, the pool staff (Kim) was excellennt and nothing was a bother to her and she made you feel very welcome, food and drinks around the pool were excellent, definatley no complaints.
carlota is also situated in a very good location right next to the night life and only a 10 minute walk to the beach
very good value for money

Went to gran canaria for the first time in December, was quite nice, would go again. With it been out of season people do hastle you a lot to buy things and the weather was quite nice but not as hot as I like it, but it was December.

The hotel was ok but thet's about as far as i'd go, it had everything you need tho and the location couldnt be better. The staff are nice too, it was really cheap but food in gran caneria wasnt, although we did go when the euro was really bad.

Would reccomend the Irish bar on the sea front upstairs, staff are a good laugh and they do lovely breakfast.

Appartments clean and spacious with a decent maids service, some balconies do not get any or much sun .
Pool bar staff excellant, friendly, chatty, helpfull always smilling..
The holiday was spoilt by only having hot water on four days out of our two weeks holidays, apparently they have problems with some apartments and if you get one of them you have to live with water too cold to shower in or wash any dishes, we pleaded with them ,we got angry with them, they used every excuse in the book but still no regular hot water.
Come on Carlota you have to do better than this..
