I stayed here and really enjoyed it. Value for money was brilliant. The hotel is a 2 miniute walk from a lively shopping centre which has some nice places to eat and drink on a evening. The views from the hotel were amazing. Although the hotel may benefit from a slight refurb I really enjoyed myself and it was clean and tidy. Staff were polite and friendly. Puerto Rico was amazing and I would definately return, go and enjoy!

  • Liked — Location - High on the mountain
  • Disliked — Rooms a bit dated
  • Tips/Secrets — Walk to the local shopping centre, only 2 minutes and lots to see and do

Just returned from the Colina Mar on the 30th Sept 2006. Had a fantastic time, apartment’s very clean and spacious, staff very friendly and efficient. Booked room only accomadation so we used the cafe's and restaurants in the nearby Europa Center (5 mins walk) fantastic steak restaurant on th far corner at the back (down the steps from the ColinaMar end walk on the top level to the end past the Chinese’s turn left and it's on the far corner). Also a great Irish bar on the lower level. Look out for a waiter called Brendan 'warm as toast’. Beware of the main center in Puerto Rico too much hassling to get you into the food places.

Would reconmend to anyone (except those who don't like steps).

1 last comment, if you book your accommodation and use a tour operator for your flights with an airport transfer package check the transfer details if it's 'door to door'. We arrived at 3:30 in the morning only to be dropped off at the nearest tour operators own accommodation!!!!!!

  • Liked — Cleaned every other day
  • Disliked — None
  • Tips/Secrets — Check your airport transfers if booking your own accomadation with a flight only tour operator

we are just back from a fantastic holiday at the colina mar, what great value for money, the rooms were very spacious, and clean.Although we didnt eat at the colina mar,we spoke to many who had and they said the food was good, entertainment was ok,i felt sorry for some of the acts,as most guests went down town, but the hypnotist was really good, als chris mooney ,who played mostly rock, hes a great act.We spent most of the day down at the quiet pool, the barman was fantastic,a really friendly guy,he always had a smile on his face,we met some really nice people, chris and hollie, and there mum and dad, sorry i cant remember there names, they are from bradford.the hotels at the top of the hill ,so you will need to get a taxi down it only costs 3 euroso not bad really, just a little warning if youve got kids, each room has a tv,you pay 3 euro per day,but keep the kids away from channel 29,i was awakend by my son and his pal howling with laughter i sneaked into the lounge to find them watching hardcore porn, and i mean hardcore,me and the missus couldnt wait till the boys went out, only kidding. We will defo be back at the colina mar, this time we are booking direct with them ,we aill save a good few bob, typical scottish ha ha.Thanks to all the staff for making our holiday really enjoyable,we really do appreciate all that you guys do,to make our time with you really enjoyable thanks again adios amigos

  • Liked — the views ,superb
  • Disliked — nothing
  • Tips/Secrets — wear a seatbelt in the taxi, its scary stuff going up and down that hill

Party of 6 inculding 2 children aged 9 and 2 and a half stayed at the Colina Mar. We booked with airtours and went on the 26.9.06 for two weeks and we all wanted another week there.

On arrival no delays both rooms lovely and clean. Maid's service in our room was every other day and towel's changed daily although I heard not always the case with other people (guess we were lucky). we never had one cockroach in our room nor did our friend's who came away with us, you do see them outside on the main road and by reception but as long as they were not in my room I did not care.

We booked self catering and only ate poolside snacks eg. burgers, fries, toasties etc but food was lovely and always cooked fresh. We did go to the BBQ which was on a Tuesday night and would highly recommend it. It cost 8 euro's for adults and 5 for children but you get chicken. pork, steak, sausage jacket potatoe, salad bread roll and a garlic mayo alioi (dont know if spelt right )but it's to die for and well worth the 8 euro's so give it a try.

There are two pools both with bars and serving food, one with entertainment going on throughout day and does get bit noisy and crowded we tended to go to the smaller version of main pool as quieter and children had more room in pool to play.

There is a show every night and there is something for everyone, the kids entertainer is great with the kids and if you did not want to leave the hotel then there is always something going on.

Happy hour went from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and 12.00 - 12.30am every night.

Outside the Colina Mar you are about 5 mins walk to the Europa Center where you have a range of bars, resturants and shops.
i would recommend going to Flicks for a good english breakfast food is fab and go to Joki's for the evening meal we ate there a few night's and never had a bad meal always delicious and both places are very friendly with children.

Word of warning though if you do not want to eat may I suggest you carry with you sweet lolly pop's if they see you with a lolly sticking out of your mouth they think you have already eaten and tend to leave you alone otherwise be prepaired to be a bit pestered to eat at their resturants.

A taxi to the lower level cost's around 3 euro's where there are over 200 bars, rest and shops.

If you want a good night out go to Tiffany's it's a Welsh bar with great hospitality and they aim to show you a good night and you will be definatly get up with a sore head the next morning.

The all you can eat chinese resturants are fab also they cost under 6 euro's and the children went free( if they don't mention the kids going free ask we did and they did give them free meal's)

The Aqua Park is just up from the Shopping Center and was great fun we got there for 10am and left for 6pm when it closed, We went there twice and one was a bank holiday for Puerto Rico and never had to que long if anything at all.

All in all we had a brilliant time at the Colina Mar and Puerto Rico.
If you have booked for the Colina Mar see for yourself you will always get good and bad reviews and as you can see from reading this we had a good time, I would definatly go back to stay at the colina Mar and would recommend it for others.

  • Liked — It was a clean place with friendly staff that was good with the children.
  • Disliked — It suited our family fine nothing we did not like least.
  • Tips/Secrets — Take plenty of sun cream as it did get very hot

Went with my boyf for a week and had a great time. The Colina Mar is a lovely place to stay. It is basic but for 3*, you can't expect the Ritz style service. Only disappointing thing was the bathroom, looked a bit grubby so maybe the hotel could redecorate them. Two pools, Small one is quiet , main one very noisy as they have an entertainer on during the day. The Europa commercial centre is two mins walk away and Amadores beach is only a 4Euro taxi journey away. Supermarket onsite for anything you might have forgotten. If I was to go back to Gran Canaria, I would stay here again.

  • Liked — quiet & the scene fropm the balcony
