“Absolutely LOVED this trip!!”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

My boyfriend and I went on this trip on December 14th and we both thought it was fantastic!! We saw 3 different types of dolphins and a glimpse of a whale!! Being a dolphin obsessive I was totally overwhelmed!! The flying fish were entertaining too! All the staff and crew are brilliant and made the trip fun and also informative! We did go on another dolphin spotting trip whilst in Gran Canaria and for us it just didn't compare to 'The Spirit of the Sea'. Well worth the money and we wouldn't hesitate to go again!!

“Lots of dolphins, friendly crew”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

The trip was recommended to me by a friend of mine. They pretty much guarantee dolphins and if you don't see any, you get another free trip, so I would recommend booking it one of the first days of your stay, so you have another chance to go out for free. Another reason to book for one of the first days is the risk that bad weather will keep the boat in port - which happened to me. Rescheduling was not a problem.

The trip itself was good. The crew was quite entertaining. We first found a large pod of bottlenose dolphins, about 50 all up and they were jumping in front and everywhere around the boat; very nice :) Then we headed out to find whales, and we did manage to find two fin whales. This was the only not-so-good thing about the trip, as the captain headed straight for the whales - the sure way to make them dive, which they did. The weather got a bit rough after that and we headed to the swim spot.

There are two different trips: 2-hour (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday) and 3-hour trips (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). I went on the 3-hour trip. 3-hour trips have included a stop for swimming; i.e. the boat anchors just off one of the beaches and you can jump in. Nice refreshing stop, but don't bother bringing your snorkeling gear. All soft drinks are included. The price is the same for the 2 and 3-hour trips.

I would definitely recommend this trip. Enjoy :)

“Saw Whales!”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

The "Spirit of the Sea" is a twin hulled vessel and I was pleased that it was, because the day that we went out there was quite a swell on. (Twin hulled boats are much more stable than single hulled in rougher water) We went on the three hour trip and left at 10am. We had a good trip out and it didn't seem long before we had come across two local fishing boats (presumably spotters) they had located a school of whales and we followed them for a little time until the skipper said we would leave them as he didn't want them to get stressed. He said we would go in search of dolphins, in the event we were unsuccessful in this. We arrived back near to Puerto Rico harbour and those who wanted had a swim off the stern of the boat. We enjoyed the trip to see the whales and shall go again next time we are there. Hopefully the sea state will be flat calm!
