We had high hopes for this restaurant based on the reviews here. However, for the money they ask, it's not great. I had a lovely lobster bisque to start but the rest was average at best. My wife had the calve's liver with what they called a potato rosti, which sadly looked more like a cow pat. The presentation generally lacked sophistication. Wine was good, service was good but food was simply OK. Not great value, sadly.

Agree with other review that being charged for a bread roll left a bad taste (no pun intended!) My wife and I had two different fish dishes but they both tasted the same due to a heavy hand with spices. Setting very nice but the staff a bit too 'gushing' and we felt hat the food did not justify the high prices.

We had been before (6 years ago) and jumped at the opportunity to return. We dined as a group of 6 and everybody loved the food. When you arrive you can try some home made cava (3.90 p glass) while you look over the menu - nice touch. I was keen to try the 20 couse tapas menu but they suggested it would take 3-4 hours and its usually best everyone dining join in. We did order the tray of delights (11.50 min 2 person) which has a little bit of everything of the starters and it was so tasty, everything is cooked fresh and we were all fighting over the food it was that good! Before that came you do get served a small dish to help get your tastebuds going. On to the mains - I ordered fish, a few ordered fillet of beef and every dish was taken with such care, the presentation here was very good. Mains vary from 17-22 euros. The service was equally as good as the food, very pleasent, very friendly and very professional. My only small gripe is we ordered a bottle of cava (32 was the cheapest) and as myself and the wife was quite fond of it we googled it to only find it sells for 5 euros so the mark up is high. The deserts came (fantastically presented) and then they were gone. Tip - go for the Caramel parfait, it was outstanding. This place is so far above the rest of the other restaurants in Puerto Rico, if you love your food and a great evening, La Taberna is the place to go, you will not be dissapointed. The bill came in at 260 euros for 6 starters, 6 mains, 4 deserts, cava, wine, water and bread, this actually represents tremendous value for what you get. The night ended with some complimentary chocolate truffles, the perfect way to end the perfect evening

I have been here three times in just one month and we have been very satisfied with the food and service all three times. We had the tapas menu twice and have eaten from the a la carte menu once. The tapas menu was excellent, but 19 dishes can be a bit much. Well worth a try any way if you want a special experience.
We think it is good value for money even if it is a bit more expensive than some of the restaurants you find in Puerto Rico. We feel it is better to pay a bit more to get really good food in a nice setting.
Great for couples on a special occasion and so many wonderful dishes it is hard to choose.

We will definitely come back again!
