Hotel Duque de Najera
Ranked #6 of 10 Hotels in Rota
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed June 8, 2014

This is a second stay at El Duque de Najera for business at Naval Hospital Rota.
Sea view room was minimalist but roomy, with a comfortable bed.
The hotel is ideally located on the beach with strolling along the water or into the old city, which is accessed steps from the hotel entrance.
I appreciated the ample breakfast which included fresh fried eggs, homemade breads, deli meats, fresh fruit. My colleagues and I had a pleasant dinner at the hotel restaurant and on a separate day enjoyed tapas outdoors.
The front desk staff were outstanding.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room AWAY from the restaurant.

Dear Client,

Thank you very much for your nice words and comments about our Hotel Duque de Najera.

The situation of the Hotel is really the best, just on the see, at the center of the city and near the harbour.

We are very happy that you enjoyed our restaurants and we hope to welcome you back soon.

Best regards,

Sophie

This is really the best hotel in Rota. Fantastic location, and views. Right on the ocean. The breakfast was ok compared to some of the other hotels we stayed at in Spain. The food was good, but was a little pricey. I would recommended eating out in town.

Staff provides excellent service and this is NOT your standard tiny Euro-hotel room - very spacious. The bathroom is bigger than most continental hotels I've stayed. The breakfast offers plenty and will suit all tastes. If you leave hungry it is your own fault. Nice pool and patio to relax at and it is on the beach front so if you want to enjoy some surf - it's at your backdoor. I definitely will stay here again my next visit.

The Duque has the best location in Rota and is perfectly located for the beach and old town. Across the way is a friendly bar with nice tapas and another across the plaza. The hotel is comfortable with a bit of elegance. The rooms are spacious with the best shower ever.

This was a very comfortable, very clean hotel for our 4 night conference. Great shower, friendly staff, and they offer an excellent breakfast. Very good value overall, though the wifi is spotty and can be slow. This is exacerbated by their naming convention and tough-to-remember password. They need to use the same SSID and password everywhere, and they should quadruple the bandwidth. Still, a good value, and a great location. We will be back.

I would've given 3 stars since the hotel needs a refurb asap, the rooms are old and dated and the breaksfast buffet is lousy, but the view is outstanding if you choose a beach view.

The location of the hotel is also good and you can go walking anywhere near town. Also, 15 min way from Puerto de Santa Maria, Chipiona, and 30 min from Jerez.

Would I choose this hotel again? Only for the view and quick access to the beach.

Our stay for two nights in this hotel was very relaxing. Great, english speaking, front desk staff were quick to get us through to our room; they also upgraded us for free to a corner suite looking out to the ocean. Great room layout, VERY nice bathroom with tub and large shower. Only thing that was annoying was the bed: a set of double beds put side-by-side; so, when you go to the front desk make sure you as for a queen instead of that (if you're a couple). neat little games room down stairs. We thoroughly enjoyed the bar restaurant with a sailing-club type of feel, very good food and wine.

Room Tip: Highly recommend ocean view. Make sure you get a queen (at least), not a twin-double bed setup (two...
