When one programs to go to Herdade do Esporão visit the cellars and learn a little bit more about Alentejo Wines and all the wine culture in Portugal, one has great expectations, since Herdade do Esporão is a renowned wine producer.

Well, my visit there was therefore really dispappointing. Not only the guide didn't reveal any unusual stories about the Herdade and the winemaking, but also she was very fast telling the only stories she told. In the end, we tasted two wines from the Herdade. Note: Herdade do Esporão has very good wines and a very good reputation. We tasted the 2 worst wines they produce. Which may be the only bad ones.

This is why I classify this attraction with a terrible note. I thought it was shameful and disgraceful.

My wife and I took the tour of the Esporao Winery, the tour of their Heradade (property) and ate at their wonderful restaurant. Everything was excellent. If you are used to paying high prices for European wines, the QPR here will delight you. They offer a variety of wines starting at 3 Euros a bottle. We were delighted by everything we did at this wonderful property. You will not find many better meals in Portugal. The staff is wonderfully welcoming and the property is amazing. Highly recommended to the foodie who loves his/her wine.

You need a car, large winery near Evora. Wine is excellent and prices are very reasonable.
They have a First Class Restaurant with very tourist oriented and helpfull staff. They can speak many different languages. Food was superb and there is an outdoor area with a great view.
We were a large groop with young children. Great wine pairing reccomendations by staff.

Amazing tasting and great wines. Don´t forget the olive oil, one of the best in the area.
Beautiful scenery, lot of potential in the future. Leading wines of Alentajo.

Four of us visited the winery on 19 August 2013 for a wine tour and first class lunch in their restaurant overlooking the lake. Impressive large scale environmentally friendly operation producing budget, reserve and special reserve wines that can be sampled or bought with lunch. Excellent lunch menu and service, well worth a visit.
