Solo Ciccia came highly recommended from several friends who had been in the last few years. If you like meat and a 'family' dining experience this is a restaurant you cannot miss in Panzano. We arrived early so we started in the butcher shop across from the restaurant with Chianti and a sample of meats and cheeses as an appetizer. We were then seated at a table for 11 with folks from Australia, Canada, other parts of the US, and Italy. The meal is served family style with 6 different courses of meat and lots of sides. Wine is included but you are welcome to bring your own and share. Between the interesting conversations and wonderful food this was a truly incredible experience. Also, for 30 euros you will not find a better deal anywhere in Tuscany.

You had better be starving or have a great appetite; the dishes just keep on coming! On the very cold Sunday that I dined there, the hot consome soup just hit the spot. The onion rings and fried vegetables were savoury and crunchy. The meat dishes, from different parts of the bovine, were grilled, boiled or broiled. Each preparation came with a description of what went into it. The €30 lunch comes complete with dessert, house wine, grappa, a military alcohol and coffee. This is not intended to be a quiet afternoon meal; not when its BYO too! We dined communal style amongst strangers, shared different wines and made new friends. One of them bought several bottles of the in-house condiment (mix on salt, pepper and rosemary!) and presented a jar to me. Another stranger, who staggered out with me, split a Tuscan cigar with me (no, we did not share smoking it - it was literally broken in half, to be smoked that way). Dario, the owner then joined us outside and recited poetry. It was a complete social experience. He plans to showcase his culinary skills during the World Gourmet Summit in Singapore next April. Another treat coming up!!

Dario Cecchini, the world-renowned, Dante-quoting butcher of Tuscany, lives up to the cliché 'larger than life': his handshake covers yours and half your forearm. He is a genius with meat, passionate about it, and offers it in large quantities to locals and tourists alike. Sunday lunch sees crowds in and around the macelleria, with free cold cuts and Tuscan wine, before those with the foresight to have booked places at a communal table at Solo Ciccia cross the narrow street for a two-hour feast with unlimited wine, half a dozen courses, coffee, cake and grappa for 30 euros.
The other guests at out table were a mix of Italians and European tourists, and we all managed to communicate in pidgin versions of each others' languages; goodwill and good food help.
Just about every part of the cow seems to be used in the various meat dishes, but even the wary eaters (our 9- and 11-year olds) were soon convinced. I'm pretty sure the boy ate more than I did, but the restaurant would only accept 15 euros for each child. (Of course, they don't drink wine or grappa. Yet.)
Dario Cecchini also has a full-on, giant-slabs-of-meat restaurant above the macelleria, and a gourmet burger place behind it; we haven't tried these yet, but if they're as good as Solo Ciccia, they must be wonderful. Our advice: go as soon as you can.

Generally I’m not very keen on meat, but I fully appreciated the hearty lunch at Solo Ciccia! They have some cold cuts and lard/meat spreads as you walk in the restaurant offered together with some red wine, all free of charge, so as you sit down at the table you’re already quite satisfied! The weather was great and we decided to have the lunch outside and enjoy the beautiful view that surrounded the patio. They served us hamburgers together with some very tasty sauces that perfectly complimented the dish. Had a great time! Solo Ciccia should be one of the first on the list of places to go if you’re in or somewhere near Panzano

Went to Solo Ciccia for lunch and had a fantastic time! As we walked in we were greeted by a lively, friendly atmosphere and Dario Checcini himself. There were free appetizers and wine and then we sat outside at a big family style table and were served big scrumptious hamburgers. Seeing complete strangers from all parts of the world sitting at one table united by good food and wine in a beautiful, relaxed outdoor setting defintely made the experience very special! Excellent quality food and great service. I highly recommend it. I haven’t had dinner there, but I heard their dinners are exciting and a lot of fun.
