“Yum!”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

Everything on the menu is worth trying and be sure to stop by the butcher shop before leaving town. The meatloaf is a must!

“Best meat you'll ever get”
Reviewed August 11, 2013 via mobile

We first heard about Dario from "No reservation" by Anthony Bourdain. After seeing this show I allways wanted to go there and try Dario's food! All I can say it's that I ate there the best meat! After we ordered our meal arrived very Fast and the Staff is friendly. U must try the Burger wich comes with amazing fries, beans and veggies. Also we ordered a plate with different style of meat( sushi dei chianti, tonno dei chianti were my faves) Good price too! I will allways go back there

“You've gotta meet the "Mad Butcher of Panzano"”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

We first heard of Dario from the Executive Chef Elise Wiggins at Panzano's Restaurant in Denver (a terrific place). Chef Elise had hosted Dario (and wife Kim) for a special "show" at the restaurant in Sept. 2012 (so sorry we missed it). Anyhow, especially during the village of Panzano's market day, Sunday, Dario and his team of "apprentices" really put on the show, along with complimentary wine, bread/oil, lardo, salumi, and wine in his tiny butcher store just off the piazza. Then, we recommed that you have lunch on his terrace, and if you're really a carnivore, return for dinner for what is virtually a free cooking demonstration of the famous Tuscan beef including Bistecca Florentina (a 3-4" porterhouse steak served pretty darn rare). For the best seat in the house, arrive early and sit facing the grill, and the tons of beef about to be cooked. In our opinion, this is one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences that you'll never forget.

But best of all, Dario and his staff are friendly, down-to-earth, and knowledgeable, especially including butcher Liam from Saskatchewan, Canada. If they're not too busy, they're happy to take pictures, including one with Dario (it was unusually slow in Tuscany in June 2013). And Panzano is one of our most favorite Tuscan villages...quaint, picturesque, pedestrian-friendly, and easy to find parking.

“A fun day for carnivores in Chianti”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

Arrive early and visit Dario's butcher shop first where you will be served his 'Tuscan butter' on bread which is herbed lard, and some salami to taste with a glass of red. View and buy some of his cuts of meat which he will be happy to tell you how to cook! Make your way upstairs to the restaurant and choose from 2 set menus which include beef tartare, meat loaf and hambugers served with fresh vegetables and Dario's special sauces and salt. The quality of the meat was very good and served well and promptly. Because you sit at a communal table watching the chef cook on the grill, the atmosphere was casual and fun. We also enjoyed the lard and salami in the shop downstairs - very tasty - a good way to taste some Tuscan produce.

“Hyped up but was just OK”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

Had some wine and bread being given at the entrance, didn't care for the animal fat w/ herbs.
I went for the € 20 "Accoglienza" : Vegetables ( carrots, celery, fennel) to dip in olive oil, steak tartar, pulled pork, roasted pork, meatloaf, bread & water (w/ or w/o bubbles).
Steak tartar was nicely seasoned and I actually liked it. Last and only time I have tried it was at a German restaurant in Chicago and didn't care for it. Both pork dish tasted the same, a bit dry I think. The sauce on the meatloaf made it taste good.
The waiter forgot to give us our bread. We had to wait for refills on water.
It wasn't busy .
