I was so hungry in my trip from Roma to Siena so I dropped by this restaurant for a lunch at nearly 2pm. It is not in the main street. The restaurant has a nice garden. I ordered a Tuscany pasta in meat sauce, together with a green salad. The ingredients of the salad are so FRESH! Also, the pasta was made very al dente. The lady who served me (who may be the owner) was so nice and patient to explain me the dishes. It was near the time of them having their late lunch but she was still so patient. This is my first supper in Tuscany and it gave me such a good impression of this beautiful part of Italy. 5-stars given!

This restaurant is a great choice time after time. Be it seafood, steak, salads or pizza, the very fresh ingredients are prepared with care and the presentation is pleasing to the eye. The friendly, relaxing atmosphere prevails both inside and in the garden dining area, and on-street parking is easy. Great for couples, families and groups of friends.

This very handsome restaurant offers a more placid dining experience than the bustling, family operated, places in the older part of the town, and also some menu choices that go beyond the usual Tuscan fare, perhaps reflecting Chef Guido's North Italian origins. Fresh fish is often featured on the daily menu, there are expertly prepared risottos as well as the usual pastas, and the calves liver alla veneziana is a particular favorite of ours. The dining room is spacious and there are additional tables in the adjoining garden, but I Poggioli is essentially a three-person operation. Guido and his wife Gabi, who makes the salads, desserts and pastries, work their culinary magic in plain view in a kitchen open to the serving area. One is greeted by the gracious, multi-lingual Mariangela, who seats your party, takes the orders and serves the food, which in our experience is consistently well prepared. It's hard to have a really bad meal in that part of Italy, but "fine dining" restaurants there, as everywhere else in the world, tend to be pricey and pretentious. In our view, I Poggioli offers the benefits of such establishments without those disadvantages.

We have eaten at i Poggioli for many years now. The food and wine are very good, and we always receive a warm welcome. The patio / garden is very popular, & the restaurant itself is stylish. Our favourite dishes are; Antipasto di Pesce (mixed fish starter); Spaghetti alle Vongole (spaghetti with clams); Fegato di vitello alla Veneziana (calf's liver). The restaurant is different for this part of Tuscany, as it usually has fish & shellfish on the menu. The pasta & pizzas are good, but if you want a change from the usual Tuscan fare, this is the place to go. Mariangela , your hostess, also speaks English & German.
