We are a family with one child (11 years) and we stayed 2 weeks in Terazza Merlata in July. The house and its interior is absolutely marvellous and the spacious terrace and its view are breathtaking !! Although we arrived very late at night, Nicolas the check-in manager and Mariantoinetta, the owner of the house, welcomed us warmly and showed us around. The house provides everything that is needed (exactely like in the description). Since electricity is charged separately, we had to pay 35€ for having the aircon cooling the house, but that was worth it since the temperatures were pretty high (around 38 degrees celsius). The house is situated in the centre of the old town and restaurants, bars and ice cream places are just around the corner. The walk to the beach takes about 5-8 minutes. We did not have a car and did some trips to the Castellana caves, to Alberobello and Bari by train and bus, which is easy, uncomplicated and very cheap. We would highly recommend this place
The last review said it all really and we agree with everything they said. The owner was very friendly and brought us home grown pomegranate and pear jam to eat on the terrace. There are lots of places on the terrace to eat and sun bathe and we made full use of them! The view of the bay and the sea inspired us to go down and take a dip - take plastic shoes as the pebbles hurt!
The apartment was amazingly well equipped with glasses, crockery, cutlery, sunbeds, towels and even sunhats. It is situated just off the main piazza which has some good restaurants and bars. In fact the town has lots of good restaurants with seafood a speciality and the recommendations by the agents, HelloApulia were spot on.
Being close to the piazza you are also close to the bells which are charming but they do ring through the night so you might want to bring ear plugs. You will probably hear the bells wherever you stay in Polignano.
Thank you to Marion for welcoming us so nicely and helping us with advice and sorting out staying in the house a little longer on checkout day. She recommended a good taxi firm for getting to the airport (Euros70).
Polignano is a charming Italian town with very helpful and friendly people and we would thoroughly recommend it.

The first holiday with our little family. Me, my wife and our 5 months old baby had an amazing time staying here..
Starting from the booking process, emails were prompt, friendly, informative and very clear.
Having been given directions of the meeting point, and a phone call checking on our progress getting there; arrival was a breeze with the help of Marion (of hello apuglia) who was located 2 minutes near the property and lending us a hand to bring our many cases to the apartment..
Walking to this place is like a scene from a movie .. you would usually be on the other side looking at people arriving to this place that is just off the main square in the old town.. but no its you! Incredibly friendly residents smiling and greeting... Marion completed our checking I process and left us with information about where to find things locally..
Mrs De Luca, the owner of the place, greeted us with a delicious plate of Fichi d'india (prickly pear) and welcomed us warmly
Set over two levels and finished with high quality flooring, high ceilings and massive windows this lovely apartment put a smile on our face as we walked into it .. it sits proud with a terrace that looks over them famous cliffs of Polignano.. no need to walk to see them, just go up to the terrace!
The home is set up with all the needs for self catering .. there is even some basic cooking necessities like salt oil etc. Everything was tastefully decorated and arranged.
Rooms were of very good size allowing us freedom to roam around while not out and about.. a large window come door that over looks the alleyway they leads to the main square.. just pop your head out and you can see the busy life out there ..
Despite being in the heart of the old town, the place was remarkably quiet. Just about the right level of life "Humm" as you wake up in the morning.
We head breakfast on the terrace every morning with so juch outside space who wouldn't! The completely equipped terrace with various places of shade and sun fitted the taste of us all!
Mr & Mrs De Luca made our visit beyond fantastic. With advise on where to eat; literally every single place they recommended was just amazing. They are so friendly and kind beyond description and are there if you need them! Nothing like the advice of pure locals :)
I know speaking about Polignano is probably not a review of the accommodation but I feel that not doing so is trying to deprive this home a bit of its features! The old town is one of those places that you see people walking around trying to soak up the atmosphere and heritage in a day.. but being there , for 10 days we did, just made you absolutely and utterly appreciate it all with little or no need to even feel like needing to go somewhere else and see something else.
Our final day was also made easy by a convenient check out time, a quick and simple inspection before leave and off coarse warm goodbyes from the Lovely De Luca family and help from Marion to wheel the cases over to the car. ..
I would never hesitate to come back again.. to this lovely home in this amazing Italian town.
This is a wonderful apartment. Has everything you need and comes with an amazing view. Enjoy your morning coffee or a late afternoon glass of wine on the terrace and admire the beautiful sunset. Polignano is a great place to live, to walk around. Many good restaurants in the area. Great food, low cost. And a special thanks to our charming hosts !
