We started our two and a half week Puglia holiday here on July 17th this year.We stayed for three nights. We loved staying here - very friendly service - at front desk and in breakfast room. We had a superior sea-view room - two separate balconies - one with table and chairs facing out to sea and the other with two sunbeds facing down onto the pebble beach. Yes - it was hot out there during the day! - spent some time ducking in and out! We were a stone's throw from the very nice old town - great restaurants and bars there. Breakfast in the hotel was good. Restaurant great too! We paid for our car to be parked - didn't see it while we chilled there! Best spot in Polignano!

We stayed here in late June in a 'superior' room, which was comfortable and spacious. We had a large balcony overlooking the Adriatic, but unfortunately, at that time of year, it was too hot to sit outside during the day. The evenings were more pleasant. Our bathroom, although small, was perfectly adequate. The air-conditioning unit was efficient (an absolute necessity), but the wi-fi seldom worked in our room. I see that others have criticized the breakfast, but we just want fresh fruit, coffee, and croissant or bread. We had several choices, so we were satisfied.

I must mention that I heard another guest complaining bitterly about his 'standard' room at the front desk. He said it was tiny, dark, and stuffy, so I suspect there is a wide range of rooms in the hotel. Also, the staff at the front desk seems disinclined to go out of their way for guests. They never greeted us or offered assistance with any problem.

And the biggest problem? Parking! One must have a car to explore Puglia; however, the hotel has no parking facilities. There is a free parking lot in front of the hotel, but during the summer, it is totally full, because this is a popular beach area. One Sunday we waited an hour-and-a-half for a parking spot! When I went into the hotel and asked whether there was somewhere else my husband could park, the desk clerk shrugged his shoulders and said we shouldn't have taken our car out on the weekend.

I'd probably give this hotel 3.5 stars, but the location is great, both in the town and in the region of Puglia, so I'll bump it up to 4 stars.

The Covo is a few blocks away from the main street and square, allowing an easy walk to and from town, yet blissfully removed from the urban noise. The lobby is tastefully arranged; the dining restaurant has excellent food. The rooms are modern, well-equipped, and with state-of-the-art bathrooms. Nice place to use as a base for day excursions throughout Puglia.

We were booked here with a group and found that we got good treatiment by the staff. The room was tiny, with no drawer space to put things away and no place to put an open suitcase. The bathroom was large but the shower was barely large enough for an average sized individual to use without banging elbows. The dinners that were provided by the hotel for our group were excellent. However, the breakfast was poor. I give the hotel a "very good" rating only because of its charming location and views and convenience to the quaint old town setting.

Room Tip: Spend thhe extra money for one of the suites. I'm sure the group got the least good rooms.

Travel in the off-season has its advantages. One place we enjoyed was this hotel. The room was spaceous, clean and comfortable, but a bit dark in winter. The view from the room's terrace to the grotto below was stunning. Arab influenced architecture in parts of Puglia is very different from that in the more typical places American's tend to visit. It is hard to tell what the experience would be here in the summer. The staff was helpful if not abundant. The restaurant was verygood.

This is likely the best hotel right now in Polignano, and it is in a great spot. We had nice rooms with really good terraces, but the rooms and bathrooms were a bit small and cramped.
The restaurant is good, and I would stay here again. Wifi was expensive and a pain to use.
