“Lovely B&B”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

We highly recommend this address in the heart of old Polignano. Domenico and Rosa are friendly and helpful and the establishment is run professionally, in the best sense.

The house itself is typical of the old town, tall and narrow with steep stone staircases. Our room on the first floor was very comfortable, well appointed and tastefully decorated. Breakfast is on the roof, a beautiful place bathed in sunlight with a magnificent view of old stone and an uninterrupted seascape. This is the town where the famous sixties song "Volare" was written - about flying in a sea of blue....
We stayed with our 4-year-old daughter, who was given a very friendly welcome in the house and generally in the town. The staircases are a bit of a challenge for young children, so they can't really run around much inside the house. On the other hand the narrow pedestrian streets and squares are a safe and interesting environment which is relaxing for everyone.
We were there for 3 days and were sorry to leave...

We stayed 2 nights here and found it to be charming. The host could not have done more to make us more welcome and the location was fantastic - if not a bit tricky to get to! Parking was a problem but Dominico found us somewhere as I'm sure he could solve any problem put before him. His restaraunt recommendation was fantastic and we had one of the best meals the night he reserved us a table. The cons: shower pressure/temperature was erratic and the stairs were steep beyond belief - although we were on the top floor!

Room Tip: the lower floors would be my choice as the stairs are STEEP - would not be suitable for elderly or s...

We stayed 5 nights at b&b santo stefano and could not have been happier with our choice. First, domenico is a treasure. Italian friends of ours called the b&b to let them know we would be arriving late and domenico graciously offered to meet us at the interstate to escort us to the b&b. Such service! And it was a huge help because late at night and in the dark, it would have been tricky to find. Domenico gave us a history lesson on our way in. He could not have been more helpful or charming. The rooms were beautiful, clean and well appointed. They accommodated a change in our schedule to allow us to stay longer with a room change. Breakfast was always tasty with a variety to choose from whether meat, cereal or cakes. There is something for everyone.

Room Tip: If you have mobility limitations, let them know. Otherwise the older historic building has narrow ha...

We stayed for 5 days in this charming, clean, perfectly wonderful B&B in the historic center of Polignano.
We had a warm welcome from angel Domenico who also gave us a lot of helpful advises for restaurants and visits in the area. He was always contactable on his cellphone for any questions.
The breakfast was delicious. And the terrace on the roof with a view to the sea is a real paradise.
You could just start your day with a big smile.
Our conclusion: we had a marvelous stay in the B&B Santo Stefano and we would come back any time.

B&B Santo Stefano is located in the historic center of Polignano a Mare, 200 feet from the sea and walkable from the train station. Some rooms have a small balcony, private bathroom, and free Wi-Fi. It appears to have been fairly recently remodeled. They have a great breakfast that includes homemade cakes, and when weather permits it is served on the large terrace with views of the Adriatic Sea. Our room features heating, a cooling fan, a digital TV, and a small fridge. The bathroom is complete with shower and hairdryer. The style is rustic, with stone walls and tiled floors. We will again stay here. The stairwell to the upper rooms offers a challenge as it is VERY narrow and circular. The B&B is located off of main walkway and offers very quite and peaceful place to relax and sleep when required.

Room Tip: If you have lots of luggage ask for a lower room. My wife and I travel with backpacks so it wasn'...

this b&b is a wonderful, comfortable house at an amazing place. polignano is gorgeous situated on the coast of the adriatic see, the rooms are cosy, charmful and very clean. but the most important thing is: that house has a soul. the best location is for the birds if you don`t have human warmth in it. so I can only repeat what all others say: this good-hearted guy domenico makes your stay unforgettable. I spent 7 nights there, every day was a gift. Domenico helps you to feel the heart of (south)italy, to come closer to the people there. if you`re interested in this, ask him and never stop with asking. he`ll be pleased to give you advises for sightseeing, food, locations.. another important thing: the breakfast is brilliant for italy.. (domenico makes the cake by himself- he claimes.. ;-))) enjoy the haunting view from the terrace.

Room Tip: if you`ve any physically disability ask for a room at the ground floor.
