Borgobianco Resort & Spa Mgallery By Sofitel

This hotel does not deserve to be on the SLH list.

The hotel added 'drinks' and 'lunches' to our bill that we did not consume. This also happened to 4 of our travel companions, making us wonder if it was a routine practice. Up to 300 euros were added to each bill. When we notified the receptionist he appeared to be niether suprised nor concerned and did not apologise.

Cleanliness was an issue. Bathrooms and floors were not cleaned during our 5 day stay. Some bathrooms were mouldy and had cracked plaster. There was a lot of broken glass around the pool area. Old food and glasses were left for hours on tables around the pool area.

The food is simple and good, but very over-priced. Two small handfuls of tinned corn kernals, rocket and sliced carrot = 12 euros. The hotel is iscolated and there is nowhere to eat locally.

The hotel is under-staffed, with only one person on duty at busy reception and bar areas. Over-worked staff appeared harrassed and irritated. Waiting 30 min to be served at the bar, and an hour for a snack, was not unusual. There was a wedding during our stay but the hotel did not bring in extra staff leading to chaos at the bar and in the restaurant.

When you book ask if there will be any events/weddings during your stay - they play music late (3am) and loud at the parties and as the hotel is small whereever you are in the building it is impossible to sleep when the music is on.

The strengths of this hotel are its design and decor, comfortable sleeping conditions (good shutters, excellent linen and mattresses) and fantastic spa treatments but I would not stay there again and any one intending to should execise caution. Check your bill!!!

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have the best view. Bottom floor rooms are cooler.

This five star hotel is not easy to find this hotel. We had a written road description from a touroperator but had to ask for directions several times. It's in a remote location, which is a pity because Polignano a Mare is actually a very nice and a very cosy little (coastal) city.

The hotel. It has its own covered parking which must be a little plus in summer.

The rooms our all located in a white two-storey building around a central plaza, hence the name (White Village). We got the corner room on the first floor, far away from the reception which made it impossible for us to use the free wifi. So we had to drag the laptop to the reception area where there is a sitting area.

Very nice room with a terrasse and view on the swimming pool and the Puglian countryside. However, the room was completely white. Very stylish but I would have appreciated some colour accents.

There was also an indoor swimming pool and a spa but we somehow missed that.

I read a lot of comments about the staff being unable to speak English but the woman ate the reception was fluent in both English and French.

The breakfast was superbe: they almost run out of space to display everything on offer!

It is a beautiful hotel in a great location near by Polignano. It is not worth the money, I have been to different hotels in the area and I thought it was going to be spectacular due to it's high price. It is definately a place to go single not very child friendly.
- Minimalist in it's decoration (sometimes too much)
- Bathrooms are nice, with a sink with no space to leave your things
- No beach , it has a partnership with a small close by beach wich is ok (do not eat at the restaurant by the beach)
- Bikes are available and free but NO Baby / toddlers seat
- Very nice and romantic restaurant for dinner
- Nice luch but again not worth it to pay 40 euros for the buffet (no drinks included)
- NIce pool, just keep your kids restrained because the lifeguard asked a couple of kids to leave the small pool are because it's only for massages.. (while there was nobody in)
- The cleaning service is quite good.
- Very nice spa! with inside pool !
- So many good restaurants nearby so you can profit from this! and at a less expensive range.
- Free internet in the rooms!!
- Good breakfast. Do not order anything out of the menu

Overall it is not bad, you just have to know what you are dealing with.

I've just had three nights at Borgobianco with my lovely wife. It was a perfect place for a lazy few days by the pool and slowly exploring Puglia. Excellent service; friendly and efficient. The hotel is stylish, smart and clean as was our room. We'd definitely go back. Good value for money.

Very charming hotel. From one side, great view on the hills and on the poolside, great view on the countryside and the the Adriatic. Employee are really nice, the service (laundry, restaurant, breakfast) is good. The location is nice but you'll have to use a good GPS because located on a remotes part with very small roads. But worth the trip.

If it's a beatiful, relaxing and quaint escape you are looking for in the South of Italy - Borgobianco is the place for you. We booked Borgobianco at the last minute for our honeymoon gettaway, and it was everything we were looking for and more. Set in land just 5 kms from the coast, the resort is surrounded by olive trees and a beautiful Italian country side. The only caution I would advise people of is the poolside lunch buffet is a little on the pricy side (we only found this out after the fact on our first day there - enjoyed it nonetheless!).

I would definitely recommend Borgobianco to family and friends who are looking for a beautiful, sunny, Italian destination that is little further removed from your main touristy hots spots.

The only thing to complain - the location is not the bestone.. and for 600 Euro per night they could also make the effort to pay the 20 euro for the sunombrella at the beach!
Otherwise the staff is very very polite - breakfast ist FANTASTIC - very clean - nice rooms - very romantic restaurant.. it's a small dream!
