Owner description: Since 1922 up until today, memorable pages of motor racing and motorcycling history have been written on the Monza Circuit. The best drivers, the most famous cars, the most important events have created a special legend which has existed for almost 100 years. Autodromo Nazionale Monza is placed within Monza Park which belongs to the cities of Monza and Milan. Monza Circuit was built in 1922, in only 110 days, both for competitions and for motor (auto & motor cycle) testing (Brooklands was built in 1907 and Indianapolis in 1909). Since then, the Italian Grand Prix has always taken place on the Monza track (except during the war years and a few other occasions). The location of the Circuit in Monza Park, is unique in the world. This natural setting is both attractive and delightful. Its location favours the organisation of events and meeting in open areas for exibitions, entertainment and music and supported by internal structures, as a restaurant with 350 places, a 160-person self-service and 2 bars, one bank counter and one information office which are open during the main events. Moreover there are sport and technical shops and a specialized bookstore with international and rare editions. The park offers also other facilities as swimming pool, camping, 18-hole golf course, manège and bicycle rental.

Autodromo di Monza is a place every true motor racing fan have to visit once in their lifetime. I went this September with some friends to watch the Formula One race, and had a great time. The circuit is situated in a huge public park, and there are big oak trees and old stone buildings everywhere.
The first racetrack at Monza was built i 1922, and in 1955 they built a high speed concrete track with two banked curves, which now stands as a monument over the daredevils of the past.
The day before the race we walked inside the track to have a look at the old bankings. We also wanted to climb them, but a guard threw us out when we jumped over the fence. Anyway, the sight is impressive! You have to see it to believe how steep it is!
The races at Monza tends to be processional and not very exciting, but the athmosphere is great. We sat on the grandstand on the outside of the Prima Variante, which is the first chicane after the start. The view was limited and the big screen was partly hidden behind the trees, so the exact standings weren't easy to get as the race unfolded. But the tifosis went crazy every time a Ferrari drove past, and the sea of red on the grandstands were unbelievable, so we decided to just have fun and live with it.
The sound from the cars are incredible, so buy earplugs!
The queues to buy food and drinks are endless, so my advice is to bring your own stuff.
This time we stayed in Milan, but if I go again I will stay in Monza.

What an amazing experience, we have been to a few Grand Prix and i have to say the setting alone topped this, great atmosphere and so central to Monza town which is beautiful and a great place to explore, also free transport to and from the circuit was available over the grand prix weekend

I was in Monza race track only once in my life, back in August 2005. Although my friend and me had Prima Variante grandstand tickets, on Friday we sat in front of the Ferrari pits, which was great. This was my first ever F1 GP and I was surprised how such a little thing like a F1 car can make so much noise! This was simply unbelievable!

On the race day we sat in our designed seats. The weather was sunny, so it was very hot there (no roof on the grandstand and the whole things is metal steps, heating up like a frying pan). Nevertheless it did not deter me to spend almost the whole day there cheering for Ferrari, sadly to no effect on that particular day.

The trip from our Milan city center hotel was easy, by metro first, then a bus, then a walk through the park. The trip back was a bit more difficult as we had to go around Lesmo corners to the train station and lots of people did the same, so there was a sea of tifosi there, but managed to squeeze in and arrive safely to Milan. Lots of merchandize on sale, so we bought some for ourselves. Conveniently located portable toilets which was very good as lots of guys were gulping Foster beer all the time.

My first ever Gp weekend and the most memorable. Worth going.
