I wouldn't call the Pink Elephant's food or atmosphere "sophisticated" (it is, after all, called The Pink Elephant), but it's clean, cozy and comfortable, and the food is quite solid. Very fresh, very local. My wife is still talking about the strawberries.
The "manager" is actually the owner; a witty and engaging chap who clearly loves what he's doing, and is not shy about having a seat with you and chewing the fat. He had us laughing quite a bit throughout our meal. For curmudgeonly New Yorkers who generally prefer to be left alone, this is quite a feat.
Good food, a nice pint of stout, a beautiful view, and some laughs. What more could you want out of a restaurant?
