“Lovely, Lovely B&B”
Reviewed July 19, 2007

My sister and I stayed 4 nights out of our 7 in western Ireland here at the end of June and we wished we had booked the entire time with Dorothy! She is a wonderful hostess and the cottage was pleasantly comfortable. She has four rooms, a common room and the dining room. I enjoyed the "full Irish" breakfast--kept me full until dinner time. Dorothy had many great suggestions about where to go in County Clare and has a wonderful sense of humor. The views of the landscape surrounding her home are beautiful and it is fun to watch the donkeys. We only regretted that we did not go with her husband, Michael, when he played out at a pub on Saturday night! What a missed opportunity. :(

I would recommend Dorothy's Clondanagh Cottage without hesitation.

We travelled to East Clare because of our love of the music and wanted to stay close to Tulla and Feakle. This B and B is as good as it gets. Clean, bright and cheerful. Dorothy will go beyond the call of duty to help you out with local information. It is a tad hard to find but just phone when you arrive in Tulla and Dorothy will drive out to find you. Excellent

Having suffered a nightmare stay at Ashford Castle the previous night we were much in need of peace, quiet and a friendly face. Happy to report that all of this was provided by Dorothy and her hard working team of donkeys (eating ginger biscuits is hard work) at Clondanagh Cottage.
Dorothy is a fantastic hostess but true to her easy going manner she has yet to put up a sign outside the house so it is essential that you call for directions from the nearby town of Tulla.
A lovely stay all round.

I can only repeat what the previous reviewer wrote. I agree with everything they wrote. We had a very happy stay.
We did have a little problem finding the property but we were glad we did. Perhaps a board outside would stop people driving past, as we did (twice).

Ireland, Clondanagh Cottage, Tulla, Co Clare,
Date: August 26, 2006
Reviewer: A TripAdvisor Member, Bath, UK

We spent 2 nights at Clondanagh Cottage, chosen because of its close proximity to Shannon airport.

The cottage is set in 40 acres and close to a lake with for us, the great attraction, of several donkeys kept as pets in a surrounding paddock.

The house is bright and filled with an eclectic mix of interesting artefacts. Rooms are homely and comfortable and there is a cosy sitting room for guests.

The hospitality shown by the proprietors was superb and extremely friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. It felt more like a home stay rather than a B&B.

Breakfast was exceptionally well prepared and presented with a wide selection to suit all preferences.

Its proximity to Shannon makes it a great overnight stop at the start or end of your holiday but it is well worth spending at least a couple of nights there to enjoy the fishing or boating that the house affords or the traditional music played in local pubs. It is also close to the delightful county town of Ennis and the beautiful Clare coastline and the naturally wild Burren.

This is a great value stay for anyone and very child and family friendly.

  • Liked — Its homely feel
  • Tips/Secrets — The house is a little difficult to find - make sure you get directions
