My wife and I have just returned from 12 nights staying at Afroessa Hotel on our honeymoon and can honestly say it was the most perfect choice for our trip. The location in Imerovigli is great, the view of the Caldera and sunset from our balcony was stunning, second to none on the island, and there are some lovely local restaurants. The local area is very peaceful and relaxed, but it is a nice 30 min stroll away from the main town in Fira if you want something more lively - we didn't hire a car or scooter for the whole time we were on the island and got on fine with walking and using the excellent bus service around the island to places like Oia and Perissa.
The main plus point about this hotel however is the personal service provided by Joanna and the whole staff at the hotel. It has a small, intimate feel and everyone was so helpful - the rooms are immaculately clean, the bar staff by the pool are great, and Joanna gave us some consistently excellent recommendations for things to do and places to eat, and was more than happy to make bookings and reservations for us.
I can't recommend this hotel highly enough for the perfect views, the wonderful staff and the great experience you will have if you choose it. 5 stars!

Room tip: Our room (2) had an amazing view from the balcony but all face out onto the sunset.

We booked the Afroessa after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor and were full of hope that it'd be as good as all the write-ups said. It was. Completely and utterly. The Afroessa has the most breathtaking views of the Caldera and no matter where else we were told to see the sunset from (Oia, Fira or even to the south of the island), there was no better place than from the balcony of our room at the Afroessa. Stunning, quiet and uninterrupted views (we also saw a green shooting star on our last night - hope you see one, too!). Not only was the room amazing, but Ioanna and her team were fabulous, too - there to give great advice on what to do/how to make the best of your time there/what to do instead. The Afroessa truly deserves its great ratings. I wanna go back! And you will, too!!!!!

Room tip: We didn't see any of the other rooms but were in room 7 (a suite) and it was definitely worth having it for the extra space and the private balcony. It also seemed to catch a lovely breeze off the Caldera, great for those super-hot nights.

My husband and I picked this hotel based on trip adviser reviews. We had been to Santorini several years ago but stayed in the centre of Fira, this time we wanted something a little calmer and certainly found it. The views over the caldera and of the sunset are breathtaking. You can get a local bus into Oia or Fira very easily and there are plenty of trips on offer too if you so wish. The pool area is very relaxing and never too busy. Ioanna, Nick, Eddie and all the staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to help. Everything was kept spotless and our apartment was perfect with a balcony for the view/sunset etc. You can order breakfast in your room and eat it on the balcony. Lunch and even a simple snack for dinner can be ordered until 10pm which we didn't realise at first. It is also easy to walk to the many local restaurants for your evening meal. All in all a very relaxing and wonderful break in a just lovely hotel.

Room tip: We booked the apartment, room 7, which is just above the pool area. It was nice to have a kitchen and lounge area and has a decent sized balcony for the views/eating.

Alex and I arrived at Afroessa at the end of our holiday in Greece for a 3 night stay on Santorini and chose this hotel on the back of all of the reviews I had read here. I can honestly say it was the most magical 4 days of my life and the hotel really is just fantastic. You are welcomed as family (the one's you like that is!), long lost friends and the staff all go out of their way to make you feel at home. Stunning views, the most picturesque setting, beautiful rooms and the most delicious breakfast I have ever had (the Mediterranean omelette is to die for!!). We would go back to Afroessa so see Ioanna and her team in a heart beat.

We stayed here for 3 nights in June. The location of the hotel is very beautiful in terms of the view of the Caldera and over to Oia and the sunset. However it is about 25 minutes walk from town, so if you prefer to stay somewhere for the view, rather than being in the hustle and bustle, i would recommend hiring some means of transport e.g. scooter as we did. The rooms in the hotel were a bit dated, but that didn't matter as we spent most of our time by the beautiful pool, or wandering around either of the two main towns (Thira or Oia). There is no restaurant in the hotel (although breakfast is available at an additional cost), however there are some very nice restaurants within 10 minutes walk of the hotel. This is definitely a hotel for couples looking for an extremely peaceful and romantic getaway.
