We were so bowled over by the uniquely artisan quality of the meal- using mainly local ingredients to create dishes with an Italian flair- that we asked to speak to the chef. He's Greek, studied at the best culinary schools in Piedmont, and was very thoughtful about how he designed the menu and how he prepares each dish. We had the sausage starter (spicy and delicious) smoked orzo with mussels and shrimp and pappardelle with steak and arugula ('clouds of heaven' per my husband), the green salad with smoked prosciutto is like nothing we've had in our world travels. The chocolate desert (with smoked milk chocolate- amazing!) was a scrumptious surprise. The view is indeed spectacular. Advise coming for sunset or just after sunset to watch the shadows emerge on caldera, the sea, both ends of Santorini, and Skaros rock. The wait staff were so friendly too- offering ladies pashminas as the evening got cooler, and the prices very reasonable (75 euro for two with a carafe of local wine) compared to other such restaurants on the island.
